...and people hate Frankie because he was on the UK's most popular TV show which had a large proportion of young viewers. It then emerged that he had been cut from the show due to drug abuse. This is unacceptable for two reasons: a) because he was at that time an idol for young people, setting the wrong example b) because he was given an opportunity that thousands never had, was voted for, then threw it back in their faces.

Having watched the first live show last, it just confirmed what I though all along, John was BY FAR the best of the boys group, and the rest of them come to that.. Such a shame that someone which such obvious talent should be overlooked.. Without John, the X Factor has become of no interest to me this year, what a wasted opportunity.... So hope he does well without the programme, he certainly deserves to...

From one musician to another, you have more than the 'x' factor. Get yourself out there musically, write your own lyrics. Frankie has only been put through over John, for the adolescent girls and their obscure taste in skinny "indie" boys. When I first heard Adele cover this song, I thought it was amazing cos it was Adele singing it. Now, I've heard a few people cover Promise This. Each time someone sings it, it sounds new, different and good. I still really like the original but there have been some amazing covers too.
You can say what you want about Cheryl Cole and her singing ability, but you cannot deny she has a great taste in music. All her songs are just so unique(3 Words in particular).

@scamrasc Do you know how an album is made? The songs are written for her but she's given anywhere up to 30 songs and must pick the ones she might want. Then, they go into production, at which point Cheryl will pick the 13 songs that will appear on the CD. A good chunk of the songs on MLD were actually meant to be on 3 Words but Cheryl pushed them off til later.
And as I said above, I especially like 3 Words, which she co-wrote. Plus, she nearly always picked great songs for her acts.
@HPislegend248 even artists who write their own songs are subject to lable approval. unless the artist is huge and quite credible, a large lable, like universal, has the last say in how the album is made, which songs are included, which producers etc are called in to work on it and even which singles are released. unless an artist such as cheryl cole who has the absolute bare minimum input into her music, really objects to a particular song, then the songs are shortlisted by the lable.
@scamrasc Well Katy Perry's label wanted to drastically edit her song "Peacock" so they could release it as a single. She refused and that was that. I fail to see how a label can release a song over the singer's objections. The singer is the one who'll have to promote it. How can you try and sell a song the artist won't sing? Britney has even less input into her music and she got to pick most of her tracks for Femme Fatale.

Yes, the label had the songs written and produced(or in Cheryl's case produced by WIll.i.am, her BFF), but Britney is the one who picks what songs go on her album. There's footage of her in the studio with Will.i.am, asking her what she though of his re-worked version of one of her songs.
If Britney gets a say, then I'd guess that most artists do.

Good voice but Gary obvs didnt see him as standout, although as Robbie said "thats not his job", John seems suited to delivering well written songs and letting the tune do the talking, which has been both Gary and Robbies careers so not all bad ...would have like to see him do something like a Hurts song or pehaps something a little harder edged just to set a cat among the pidgeons, but thats obvs not his thing ;OP

Having watched the first live show last, it just confirmed what I though all along, John was BY FAR the best of the boys group, and the rest of them come to that.. Such a shame that someone which such obvious talent should be overlooked.. Without John, the X Factor has become of no interest to me this year, what a wasted opportunity.... don't think there has been a better singer in xfactor history. This is a guy who can sing Leona Lewis, Jenifer hudson and Adele. Yet he still sounds like a man and not a girl like Cardell ( I do like Matt don't get me wrong.) not only that but in his own style and better than the girls themselves. Totally, totally outrageous that John Wilding did not get through to the live shows. If you read this, get yourself into a band and DO NOT GIVE UP. From one musician to another, you have more than the 'x' factor. Get yourself out there musically, write your own lyrics. You'd sell millions of records and will show just why the x factor cannot cope even with the artists that win. Leona Lewis is the one exception. They do not know how to take artists to the next level. You're above this. Good luck.

Frankie has only been put through over John, for the adolescent girls and their obscure taste in skinny "indie" boys. He has zero talent and, remarkably, even Gary said that he didn't have the best voice in the category. So he was clearly put through on looks, especially since he was up against such an amazing talent like John. I truly hope that John finds his fame somehow using his beautiful voice! You would have got my vote, John!

When I first heard Adele cover this song, I thought it was amazing cos it was Adele singing it. Now, I've heard a few people cover Promise This. Each time someone sings it, it sounds new, different and good. I still really like the original but there have been some amazing covers too.
You can say what you want about Cheryl Cole and her singing ability, but you cannot deny she has a great taste in music. All her songs are just so unique(3 Words in particular).

@scamrasc Do you know how an album is made? The songs are written for her but she's given anywhere up to 30 songs and must pick the ones she might want. Then, they go into production, at which point Cheryl will pick the 13 songs that will appear on the CD. A good chunk of the songs on MLD were actually meant to be on 3 Words but Cheryl pushed them off til later.
And as I said above, I especially like 3 Words, which she co-wrote. Plus, she nearly always picked great songs for her acts.

@HPislegend248 even artists who write their own songs are subject to lable approval. unless the artist is huge and quite credible, a large lable, like universal, has the last say in how the album is made, which songs are included, which producers etc are called in to work on it and even which singles are released. unless an artist such as cheryl cole who has the absolute bare minimum input into her music, really objects to a particular song, then the songs are shortlisted by the lable.

@scamrasc Well Katy Perry's label wanted to drastically edit her song "Peacock" so they could release it as a single. She refused and that was that. I fail to see how a label can release a song over the singer's objections. The singer is the one who'll have to promote it. How can you try and sell a song the artist won't sing? Britney has even less input into her music and she got to pick most of her tracks for Femme Fatale.

@scamrasc When it comes to creating music, Britney is as shallow as it gets and she got to pick what songs went on her album. Yes, the label had the songs written and produced(or in Cheryl's case produced by WIll.i.am, her BFF), but Britney is the one who picks what songs go on her album. There's footage of her in the studio with Will.i.am, asking her what she though of his re-worked version of one of her songs.
If Britney gets a say, then I'd guess that most artists do.

@HPislegend248 both cher and katie where TERRIBLE at judges houses and shouldn't have got through. katie became a public hate figure and it was blatently fixed to keep them both in and get cher into the finals. ridiculous. gamu was a favourite of mine from the start but she had visa issues so that was obviously not cheryl's fault - however, keri was fantastic! beautiful voice and cute too. turned away. infact, anastasia and raquel were also more deserving of a place than katie at the very least.
