I have an EVGA X-58 MOBO mounted in a CM Storm Sniper case from CoolerMaster. The case has a fan at the top and the MOBO has the heatsink on the side. I noticed someone was able to bend the heatink out enough to fit the the heatsink on the board, but can you tell me if it will fit in this setup with the top fan of the case?
I've been thinking about picking this up, would it be a good replacement over the Vigor Monsoon II TEC? I might wait till i can upgrade my mobo, processor and a few other things. Is there any way to order just that chassis? I'm still rockin the old school Force Recon :(. Hook me up with one of those shirts lol
i got one coming from new egg, fan looks great. I had to buy a lot of stuff lol new egg gave free shipping on all the items :>) (Intel i core7 920, asus P6T deluxe, G.Skill tri channel memory 3x2GB and Vigor Monsoon III LT) For you guys with the Asus P6T deluxe mobo its a good idea to grab yourself one of those 15,000 RPM SAS hard drives and use it as your primary hard drive. Then you can buy a 1.5TB sata hard drive. Your sas will pick up data sent from your sata very fast.
Damn, I thought it was the caveman from the geico commercial for a minute there lol.
I just ordered one of these from newegg. I hope it kicks ass, there aren't any reviews that I could find and this was one of the only decent looking coolers I found for the x58.
Yup it won't fit because the heatsink by the CPU socket. You have to bent the silver heatsink a bit in order for it to fit. Were you able to come up with a different solution?
What kind of thermal paste did you use? A silver? MX-2? Or the stuff that came with the monsoon III lt? I'd like to know because I just ordered the cooler and I'd like to know how good the thermal paste that came with it is.
I had a 920 overclocked to right around 3.6Hz (180x20 i believe) stable as a rock at about 60-70C under maximum possible processor load (100% across all 8 cores, pretty much not achievable in even the most rigorous usage). Idle temps are obviously a lot lower and in my opinion not relevant. Of course ambient temperatures tie into the results as well.
will this cooler fit inside a NZXT tempest case? and if the fans on the heatsink die can they replaced? and if they can what type of fan is recommended especially by CFM?
that dude is creepy lol

They do build some very nice PC's. But really...build it yourself. Youll get twice as much PC for the buck.

is it possible to take the side panels off this thing cuz the way my case is designed it would work tremendously better if they weren't there thanks!

have you got a chance to try the thermaltake ultra-120 extreme because i was realllyyy leaning towards that before I even heard about this cooler
