  • we so high right meow

  • Saw him two weeks after Woodstock at Robert Stringfellows club in Leeds (actually Robert Altmans dance studio) .He gave his all even though we were only about a hundred in the audience

  • That has to be one of the best live performances on YouTube... Joe probably needed a week to recover from that one.

  • Vinyl version of Mad Dogs and Englishmen sounds WAY better , band is among others Leon Russell and Bobby Keys .....

  • FUCK YOU CATHOLIC DRUPPIES!

LONG LIVE WOODSTOCK AND THE GOOD WEED

  • @elterrordelosfachos Catholics got stoned at Woodstock you idiot. Everyone did.

  • It's alright to take a little nipppa but don't fall down and bust your lippa. Who sang this version?

  • I'm fucking stoned. Thank you Joe Cocker.

  • @ZeTakeALap back then stoned meant getting drunk.

  • @RonnieRambin I`m that too

  • @RonnieRambin yeah, but in the song he says he's gonna pick up a lid, which meant an oz back then

  • @ZeTakeALap You get your weed from joe cocker??? ;)

  • Peace & love has NEVER been the "wrong" answer to anything its just unfortunately the answer that nobody cares to look towards or consider to use in everyday life anymore cause of how people choose to mind fuck the everyone now, lie up and down bout things they have no idea of......weed hasn't been an enemy until propaganda hit- those people who got stoned and/or still continue to ARE the ones who can change the outlook of the ignorant masses...if only we could get "big brother" to listen.

  • Hi everybody,

I have some difficulties to understand what Joe says in the "acapella" moment (4,30-end)

Could anybody put the lyrics of this moment, It would be very nice for all the fans of Joe who do not speak a fluent English.

    Thanks a lot,

    Adza

  • @Zedisch Man with all due respect, you are a fraud, a fake, a true 'hippie' never sells out to the war machine while blaming his failure to maintain the ideals of peace and love for everyone on the "ECONOMY!" If what you wrote was not so sad I'd be laughing my ass off but it is heartbreaking to think that perhaps someone maybe your mom or dad or yourself even has brainwashed you into thinking you can go kill other people while blaming your actions on the "ECONOMY!"

  • YESSSSSSSSSSSS, JUST WORKIN ON IT, HAHA!

  • This sing was without any doubt the "national anthem" of the hippie movement. And the beautiful thing is: he still sings this way!

  • yes i am right NOW!

  • i dont really care about peace or war i just wanna get stoned.....

  • Not getting stoned, but drunk as we speak 0:-) However, today, there's still drugs, but where did the (good) music disappear to???

  • I love getting stoned (:

  • hahaha I Love the part at 1:58, straight jammin out as they should be! Long live good music

  • what is the meaning of this song?

  • @0:04 "Everyone, get your own gazelle, this is called "Let's Get Stoned."

    @4:16 "Somebody ate a dinosaur."

  • @zephranna01 That wasn't what I was saying, try again.

  • @zephranna01 No, we mean the person that everyone remembers this show for.

  • @zephranna01 Sorry Hendrix stole the show

  • I'd really like to make a big joint right now

  • Someone please invent a time machine for me to go to 1969 PLEASE!!!

  • @williamblair11 Don't worry, I got me a Delorean.

  • @NWFWMbudwieser ...Well shit man.Why did'nt you answer sooner? Tell you what. I'll get the weed and flower power t-shirts and you bring the flux capacitor then off to Woodstock we go.

  • @williamblair11 Dude I love Back to the Future?Especially the one were the future is all crazy and Marty's mom is with Bif.I have it but I'm not sure if it's two or three.

  • He's already stoned!

  • like if u think there should be another woodstock

with all the old classics like this

  • @SKRRBOI There will NEVER be another Woodstock

  • God Bless Joe Cocker...great great blues singer!!

  • Funny how the God fearing song writing team of Ashford & Simpson wrote this gem!

  • @SuperXavier30 God doesn't have a problem with Mary Jane. What's so bad about peace love and understanding...

  • And so he did!!! one of the greatest rockers of all time!

  • and we stop viet nam war, what are you doing for it today?

  • 1:58 "We're fucked up, yes ...yes we are."

  • I never thought you would ask Joe Cocker, hell yeah I'll go get stoned with ya!

  • @Organnabis i'll join you!

  • @Organnabis

Every time invited. Wasn't he a well educated musician? Perhaps a conducter? He certainly knows the instruments.

  • this is fucking awesome i am 16 and i wish i lived in these days subscirbe to me if u love jams like this, smoke pot, or just love life and peace

  • Damn! Remember when Belushi did Joe Cocker on the original Sat. Night Live? Man, we was stoned, mezmerized and laughing our asses off!!! Nothin' better

  • @TheElissaS that nite john asked anyone in the audiance if they had a gas tank for a panhead harley so my dad wrote and tryed to give him one with no reply. i remember that nite. i`m not burned out yet, cool see ya billybob

  • it was a time - the young generation won't understand it. It was the time of peace and love and - war. But we believed in love and peace. We were wrong - but we still believed. And today: it was the good old time. The golden time. we were stoned. But we felt better than today. We had something to believe in. And today????

  • @Zedisch today you got old...

  • @Zedisch fucking blind optimism your trends didnt last did they??? you didnt even make a change from war to peace all you did is fuck it up even more for the future generation you guys had the best chance to make a real change but failed bc you were too stoned and now your children are even more stoned than your generation

  • @jyac328 you dumb fuck we fought a war we were not allowed to win , we brought change to a fucked up government & world we believed in Peace sure we got high on occasion we grew up how about you what kind of drugs do you do??? what do you believe in we settled arguments with our fist got whupped shook hands & became friends not with a posse with guns like today

  • @jarhead242able i was talking out of anger bc there is so much potential for humanity esspecially the youth but we seem to put our energies in wasted outlet that only lead us into disarray like drugs and disconnected sex i am deeply sorry for that comment i know how much your generation wanted and even put their lives on line to change this country and i thank you we are still inspired by the 60's.

  • @jyac328

and what YOU are doing for the future generation?? Are YOU able to stop the war in Iraq and Afghanistan?? YOU today have the same chance we had therefore!! So: take your chance and do something against it: against the war, against the hungry people in Africa and Asia. And be sure: I'll be the first one, who will congratulate you for your success!!

  • @Zedisch

Man... 'The young generation' definitely understands. Our economy is bad enough that the 'hippies' (myself included) Have had to join the military just to get a foothold. We still believe in love and peace. We still believe that is possible for the rest of the planet. Yeah, you had Vietnam. We have Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, etc... Yet we still believe in Peace. Are we still wrong? I salute you brother! But the times, well... they are not-a changing.

  • @Zedisch You believed, and you were happy, but then what did your pacifism leave for my generation? The need to fight rather than have something to believe in. From my point of view it would seem that your happiness was a selfish act that left my generation in the shit. That being said, this song is amazing.

  • @nubzaquer i believe you are responsible for your own generation. your statement has proven to me once again the under 35 come from a reality you had me so you own me. we don't owe you shit buddy. we did make changes. lots of them. ask any woman. who still aren't equal but at least we're not still home barefoot, in the kitchen and pregnant,.

  • @tlynch1218 I'm not saying your generation didn't do plenty, I'm just saying a pacifistic attitude leaves others with mess to clean up. I have no idea what you mean by "your statement has proven to me once again the under 35 come from a reality you had me so you owe me."

  • Respond to this video... that would be "owe" me.

  • @Zedisch you know, you're right. Most people my age don't understand it. But I feel it. I close my eyes, I am there, in the field, lying on the grass waving my head slowly, listening. I feel it. If only I were born then, to actually be able to witness it. It will be forever a dream to me. But when I close my eyes, I am in the field, amongst the people. Love, peace, music. The cool air and the sense of freedom. And I lean over to my friend, and in a small, calm voice, I say; Let's go get stoned.

  • @Zedisch We still belive in peace and someday the world come together as one <3

  • @JuuLgRaN This is the sort of comment that brightens my day ;)

  • Un VRAI homme. <3

  • @patsykftusa Lucky you !!! I would have love to be stoned too !!!

  • Shows you how much feel and heart people had them days , todays music is full of posers that look pretty yet when it comes to music . they production is good and the music substance is poor. back them you can go in a record shop blind folded , pick any album and your`ll get good value for money .

  • @BrothersOFMine

I agree with every word of that.

  • Joe Cocker and the Grease Band. Before Leon Russell and the Shelter People. A great band. Henry McCullough on lead guitar (Paul McCartney & Wings), Allan Spenner on bass, Chris Stainton (Keyboards) (Eric Clapton) and the inimitable Joe Cocker on vocals. Joe was always outstanding and a real entertainer. Got you into the music along with the band.

  • Never saw Joe perform live, just fell in love with his music and how it applied to my generation...didn't know he smoked or was a bit spastic. but...that really doesn't matter because he has earned his Super Star status with his music! Thank you for posting this great stuff! Reminds me of my teenage days- Stargazer

  • @zephranna01 INDEED!

  • @zephranna01 Indeed!!

  • @zephranna01

To me Woodstock and the whole period round 69 - 72 was the dawn of a new era and Woodstock was somewhat like a manifestation of the first steps. The Who, Santana, J. Hendrix and the critical songwriters bout/against the war in Vietnam - it was not only a music festival, it was a sociocriitical event. Elvis was already part of the so called establishment - and by the way: he and his songs would have been intellectually overstrained there.

  • @zephranna01

I guess he simply did not fit in there. I meant he made a transition in Vegas, he became a show star and wasn´t a rock´n roller anymore. I once talked to Scotty Moore - his guitar player in the early years - and he had the same opinion. By the way: could you imagine Elvis with his Vegas outfit in Woodstock? LOL

  • @zephranna01

Oh c´mon - Elvis? This wasn´t his concert - at that time he already was in Vegas making McDonalds a rich company.....

  • OK I definitely HAVE to get to work on that time machine! Don't you think it would be cool if a whole heap of people got together (who are into this era), dressed in 60s & 70s things, drove the vehicles, got amazing, beautiful performers, and had like another Woodstock? It will likely not be as beautiful but hey, I can dream right? :)

  • Maybe the best cover of Ray Charles' original

  • People knew how to get stoned...

Today people dont know how to get stoned and how not to get stoned...

I hope we overcome this shit

  • He was trippin' balls. fo' sho'.

  • the dude can sing, and dance, check out that air guitar. whoo!

  • This just made me feel better this morning. It's been decades since I actually "got stoned", but this song seemed to mellow me out really nicely.

  • papacito!!

  • Why wasn't Elvis at Woodstock TOO MANY FREAKS!

  • Cockers idol as a kid was ray charles

  • the man from Sheffield ,U.K. does a great rendition of this soulful classic.....that voice is gritty and full of energy!!! damn Joe!!!! you killed!!!!

  • I love Joe Cocker's music up to the eighties' rubbish poppish charts music, but he never sounded so good to me as in concert, he never made more sense than on live performances like this. Thanks for the clip!

  • Saw him at the first SummerFest in Milwaukee in 1969, a few weeks before Woodstock, and wondered "who the hell is this guy - he's great!"

  • COCKER IS KING

  • joe cocker didnt do many hallucinogens, alcohol was his drug of choice. Not sure why hes always swaying back and forth, i guess that was just his style

  • Che tempi ragazzi! I giovani di allora sognavano di cambiare il mondo, oggi sognano un lavoro a tempo determinato, che catastrofe!

  • joe looks like eddie vedder on this video

  • Still like the Ray Charles version ....but Joe does it official

  • Loved Joe then, Love Joe now.... that voice is so evocative and so sexy!

  • Sheffield Steel on top of his voice-power and - of course - on top of HIGHNESS itself ;-). Incredible Man, unique forever.

  • Preach it Bro. Joe Cocker and pass the plate !

  • This was, certainly, not in the Woodstock movie.

  • He is just the voice of the rock...Did u get it?

  • "lets all go get stoned."

never a better idea was ever spoken.

  • they really DO NOT get much better than this!

  • Oh for the GOOD OLD DAYS! When music was music- people were people- and life was good!

This guy can sing the hell out of that song!

  • @deborahmouser VERY WELL said, dear

  • @deborahmouser life was no good, there was war goin' on!!!!

  • @deborahmouser and you could get high at concerts. today they are so antiseptic.. where is the mood without the blue smoke?

  • @tlynch1218 i have (essentially) never been to a concert where I couldn't get high at the show if i wanted. Maybe your going to the wrong concerts?

  • @deborahmouser and then there was Vietnam, Nixon, and a significant rise in drug overdoses. Music was great though

  • @deborahmouser Good music today is still music. Just like then. People are still people, and life is sometimes still good.

  • whats the song right at the end where they r all the swimming pool? heared that somewhere else before :D

  • hahahahah i have the same comment as bluegenie guy you know youve made a good song when all you can say is fuck yes! hahaha

  • FUCK YES

  • so much soul

  • what a great performer god

  • joe cocker looks like he is tripping so hard

  • @kingzep just feeling the music in his soul bro;)

  • Comment removed

  • @kingzep That's called the soul of music flowing through him, brotha...& probably a little LSD, too. ;D

  • @kingzep "I flew in. They led me out of the helicopter and I went straight on stage. I didn't find out until after that all the guys in the band had dropped acid, and I was the only guy that hadn't..." - Joe Cocker

  • @kingzep to be fair he always looks like that

  • @kingzep he was tripping though thats what most people think but he was really speedballing

  • @kingzep, doesn't he always? xD

  • FUCK YES

  • 60's & 70's ROCKER's ARE STILL THE BEST...I SOLD MY SOUL IN ROCK EN ROLL!!!

  • Man the crowd is awsome like rock concerts have got retarded now kids jumpin around all violent and such...I would rather just sit on a hill and smokesome grass that'd be cool

  • I love the two little young dudes standing at attention (4:05+) in living testimony to Joe's performance. Wouldnt it be cool, if one of them would write a comment, here, about what they were experiencing at that moment in time?

  • @jkws They were the appointed sentries of rock and roll, doncha know?

  • I love this song, awesome video

  • Beautifull days of music, wish i would have been there then.......

    Love Joe's music!

  • word

  • love him :)

  • One step ahead of ya browtha.

  • what a voice - he can do so much with it

  • another awesome joe cocker video... love it..

makes u feel like ur there.. he's awesome..

and the shots of the crowd are hot

  • Ray Charles cover nice

  • How is it possible I havent heard about him before? Very nice

  • oh, ok my bad.

  • Yeah, drugged down, but still an amazing voice, and a good entertainer. ^^

  • TigerJohn, Joe weren't on no trip, he was smacked out of his head on Heroin, he was a notorious Junkie, at the beging he states "get your own Kit out" kit as in Works

  • What I meant loisb420, was that: This is what everyone is saying. They're whining about the fact that he might have been high etc.

Parents not letting their kids listen to pink floyd coz the music MIGHT influence them in a bad way etc.

    This sickens me.

Today people are so afraid of everything from this day and age. "Great music but they're all sinners and will burn coz of their lifestyle"

    This sickens me aswell.

This is what I meant so..

Go get some treatment for your homophobia :)

    Varmhund

  • yeah, all this opression of beeing a human beeing should keep the younger generation from knowledge of self. f*** religion, long live god and the people!

  • varmhund, dont be an ass just cuz your not cool enough to understand and the feel the fuckin REAL power of REAL music, dont be a fag i know its hard but please keep your gay-ness to your self.

    Peace, Love, And Soul

    Louis

  • peace love and happiness...or understanding

  • Everyone is like "I LOVE THE 60'S MUSIC!! Though that darn Joe seems like he's high on something fishy, not good at all! He better take care of his colesterol! God bless"

    When did everyone become pussys?

Why o why, was I born in this day and age? I ask thou this!

Oh.. Yeah, hate society and all that bla bla bla

    Best,

    varmhund
