  • Ahhh!!! Been working on this since late June and FINALLY got it today! FEELS FRICKEN AWESOME! I had a sort of cheaters way of doing it by not letting the hoop go a full rotation around my neck (it kept just falling) but I finally got it right. :D Thanks soooo much Babz for all your tutorials. Love you!

  • Thank you Babz! I LOVE all your tutorials and really appreciate the time you put into sharing your awesomeness. I'm so glad I looked at this video again. I've been working on this move for a while and realized I wasn't putting in the one spin on the behind-the-back elbow but rather breaking and trying to lean right into the hoop. NOW I "get" it. Hope to meet/hoop with you someday :) ~ Lisa B

  • @Hoopdancerdotcom hey anytime! maybe someday ill make it to texas!

  • Still trying to smooth this trick out...but I'm getting it! thank you babz! :D

  • I've been using a 1/2" pex hoop to practice this and it's a great hoop to do this with because it's super bouncy/springy, so it takes the problem of being able to bounce the hoop in the opposite direction out of the picture.

However, my biggest problem is keeping the hoop going once I duck inside of it. Most of the time it just drops. Still working on it! I can really feel that my stomach and back has gotten stronger from practicing this though. It used to kill. Doesn't anymore. :D

  • AHHHH this is so frustrating. I have bruises all over my body trying to get this down. I am having lots of trouble with the bump to change the hoop directions.

  • @leslief86 you really have to "push" the hoop back with the outside elbow and really have to "pull" the hoop back with the elbow thats inside the hoop to get some good momentum going!

  • hola babz desde mexico! i hit my face so hard ouch!!! but i love it!

  • I see taking a few neck shots in my future.

  • i have smacked myself in the face so many times attempting this...D'oh!

  • i have a weighted hoop and its about 36" in inside, so its pretty massive and hard to stall, what kind of hoop do you use that is so lightweight and small??? and where can you find one?

  • i can do it in my strong direction but i can not reverse and go back across :(

  • @circlestream my biggest problem i have with my less dominant side is that i dont push enough with my chest to keep the hoop spinning and the momentum just dies :( its alllllll about momentum! good luck!

  • Thanks for sharing :)

  • i've hit my funny bone like four times trying to get this one! fml

  • @scarlettbradley eeeek!!! more arm less elbow!! it may be that you need to get your arm behind you sooner

  • Yay~This is what I wanted to learn:D Thank you for sharing!!I will practice.By the way, You ROCK!!!!

  • I LOVE your videos, I have, at 42, only just started hooping and AM being patient and learning the basics first but it is SO cool to see what I have to look forward to.

Sheesh, wish they encouraged guys to hoop more when I was younger...I know now what I was missing out on :o)

You rock and have a brand new fan

    Richie

  • i got it! finally!

  • @bangels32 Yay!!!

  • I love this trick!! I have the elbow reversal but i am having a hard time getting down the other part that goes around your neck. Do you have any pointers?

  • @MsCookieDivine lean way back into the hoop, once you're in the hoop the hoop spins once and then take it off your body, make sure to keep both your hands up near your neck with your elbows out in front of you. good luck! let me know if you have any more questions!

  • GREAT TUTORIAL! Thank you so much you're the shit :D

  • Hi...your videos rock...they are the best on youtube. Your slow mo parts are so helpful, clear and to the point. Can you please most more. You make hooping look so easy....thanks. I can't wait to try some of your moves this weekend.

Can you post a video on how to: do a one hand vortex and a behind the back (bend over) vortex? I hope that's what its call? lol Have a wonderful day and "May the hoop be with you" :D

  • now i gotta go hoop! imagine that!

  • yeah this is great!! inspiring :)

  • Amazeballs! Thanks for posting!

  • this is sick nasty! i love all the breaks. you're so good at it.

  • @babzrobinson

hanks for the inspiration girl. i feel like i'm a really tricky hooper but i have trouble trying to just be and flow with the hoop. The problem is not having new tricks to work on makes me bored. you have provided me with both tricks and flow inspiration and i thank you

    <3 happy hooping

  • oh awesome! funky elbows are my jam but i've never thought of doing the reversals behind the back! can't wait to try this :)

  • oh my god, if you love funky elbows you should watch some of sharna rose's videos, they are amazing and also where i got this trick from. if you havnt watched her stuff i would highly recommend it. always inspiring

  • this is super bas ass!

  • WOW, looks amazing! Thanks for the tutorial!!

    More please!

  • FABULOUS Tutorial! Clear description, tips and (of course) LOVE the slow-mo!

From personal experience, be sure to Commit FULLY to the move. He who hesitates ends up barking the funny bone (end bit) and it ain't funny - no way no how.

  • What a cool trick. I'm going to practice that! :D

  • good work babz! i'll be practicing that one
