I thought you had great energy and great passion! Diction is also pretty good. My suggestions would be to slow down when you have those urges to speed up. We lose the language. Also, watch your gestures. You tend to use one over and over. My professor calls it grapefruit acting because it looks like you have grapefruits in your hands. I've been guilty of it myself. But I applaud your monologue choice and memorization. Overall, good job.
buddy I think you were a pretty good Hamlet, very good.Be careful with Aaron the Moor. You were mugging Aaron like some unintentionally comical gangster rap artist.Aaron is more intelligent and decisive than Hamlet.Don't do Aaron like some pathetic black guy full of rage and self-pity.Aaron should be played as a superior man who luck or fate would have it, got ensnared by his inferiors.Aaron rage was toward fate,he was only mocking the Romans. He wasn't trying to "stick it to the man".He was theMan
You're not a rogue, nor a peasant slave Craig. Quite the reverse. terrific. made me listen to this speech again, and reminds us that shakespeare is for all time. I think hamlet though is a little more wily and alittle less shouty.
@pablo8174 ..Shoot him for what, because he knows something else besides street shit. At least he's learning something different and not out selling drugs or something. And I'm from Camden and I seen it all and done it all, but I love when people be theirself and don't follow the crowd. He gets much respect from me. Comments like your is the reason our people is fucked up now.
@Spyder8561 didnt u read the comment he wouldnt get shot cuz hes educated hed get shot so he would shut up that shits annoyin but it was just a joke and i got mad respect for this kid. it takes a real man to realize that brains is the way out the gutta not sellin drugs or robbin niggas. i got nuthin but respect for this kid and kids like him i was just fuckkin around.
Well done. Don't worry about these minor criticizes you see here, you are very good.
If I were to offer any advise it would be to try and keep that same level of passion but without needing to yell as frequently... The more frequently you raise your voice the less effective it becomes.
Anyway Amazing Reading 5 Stars. You are an amazing actor, don't ever give it up.
Camden is a sad looking city, every apartment in camden is boarded up, filled with rats and roaches, blacks & hispanics killing people there, hopefully this kid makes something of himself and doesnt become a victim of a shooting
This sucks. He spoke those words with almost no clarity for what he was saying, with no sense of timing, and I get the feeling he didn't even understand what some of it was about.
Thank you for this! Shakespeare is meant to be acted, and seeing how people chose to act his plays is extremely helpful in understanding his work. You did a great job.
you could learn alot from branagh. SOO unreal. im obviously watching someone pretend to be someone. and they live in denmark so i wouldnt say english role
More movement would be good. I know it's spur of the moment but the phrasing is wrong at some points. like "about my brains" thats actually the next line. and there are two parts that don't seem to be in this. Hamlet suddenly changes mood in the middle. Kind of like a manic depressive.
as far as i can get it right, cause i´m german and i only know the german version, i hear that you´re really workin good on the language of hamlet, but your not really acting.
and i think, it´s not really necessary to scream everytime when things are becoming intense.
Tbh i don't really believe you, your either shouting or talking, there's like no emotion
well done for learning that much, i couldn't do it but i just didn't like it
and i don't know if you realize it but you don't really use your body just your arms, and you do a nervous walk, you move your feet without a definite purpose, you lift them and then shake them, it's not very gd for such a speech
Quite good, really! But the strong emotions perceivable in your voice are not really reflected in your body movement, you look quite relaxed. And the outbreak after "Now I'm alone" is a bit too strong, but otherwise fine!
I like that he did not speak in an English accent. I feel that English accents kill modern adaptations of Shakespeare. I also like that this was filmed ON the street; with no back drop or costumes: that type of setting empathizes Shakespeare's transferability of mastery through out the ages. Thus the reason why Shakespeare is still studied.
I thought this might be terrible when I saw the title, but that was really good. It got better as it went and as he occupied the role more. Good stuff.
Now normally I scroll through Shakespeare on here going 'Craaaap' 'Learn what each word means' 'Not bad for an american' Very rarely do I get to say what I'm about to... That was good Pretty damn good Verging on great Well done dude U seem to understand it, Hamlets hard and UR doing it pretty well Good Job
Good start. I feel like you're a bit stiff. You're on a good path, but I feel as if there is more that "you" want to do. Listen to those impulses. You're body wants to create something. Allow it to express itself as long as it follows the story. Also, remember who you are talking to. What would motivate you to speak in such a way and who are you trying to affect? I thought that I would try to give some constructive criticism compared to others :/, but overall, you have a great start.

I'm not a profesional director or anything but I have a bit of advice. I see alot of myself in your performance. I think we both need to let the words carry it and not worry so much about dramatic gesture and declamatory shouting. These can often drown out the actaul essence and meaning.
Oh, this is wonderful! Much applause and five stars. Very well done, especially for such a hard speech. It's great to see Shakespeare just happening, you know?
Excellent job my friend. I also love Shakespeare and more specifically HAMLET.I am in the process of memorizing the complete HAMLET text..the full text. Right now I can recite from memory acts 1-4. You have balls kid. Very courageous and inventive take. I would actually like to direct you in this play, as this role. I would work on grounding your voice and gestures. . .some specification issues, but you are 18- with some training, you will be magnificent buddy.
WAY ahead of your years!! With your passion and intuitve understanding of the written, your performances will only grow through time... IF acting is your dream, never give it up!!!
I really like your portrayal of Hamlet, you capture Shakespeare's words beautifully. I love how you've kept your own accent, there is a tendency to assume that Hamlet has to be really posh, but this really needn't be the case! Perhaps when he decides to entrap Claudius ("the play's the thing...") you could downplay it a little, so as to develop Hamlet's introspective character? Nice work, keep it up!
Wow... I'm one of the education interns at STNJ this summer, and I am SO looking forward to watching what you do as an Apprentice. This was one of the most incredible performances of that monologue I have ever seen. I am just so blown away right now... you rock!
Try and make better use of the space around you. Don't remain so stationary. Vary the rate of your voice more. Just trying to help you better yourself.
hello mr Bazan Hoo-Ha! it was compelling, your Hamlet. when i experience such artistry it cleanses my soul from the troublesome experiences like our govt and Katrina, or Iraq. art is the answer to man s quest for nobility and you got it: I especially like the Hecuba part and your generosity of spirit.
Very talented, man. Don't get too settled in that though. The theatre is a very disciplined art form and to do it well, requires lots of study. So do that whenever you can. Acting (in my opinion, and many others) is so much more craft that talent. So build on that!
It's really awesome that you did that on the street! Loved it! Keep up the good work!
to all of you who have something negative to say, get a life, why is it that if this young man tries to bring some positive light to a city that has been deemed Murder City some of you have to bring him down? You don't know what we as students in Camden, everyone of us, Camden High, Woodrow Wilson, Creative Arts, Medical Arts and Met East, you don't what any of us have to go through, so don't you dare part your lips or strech your hand to bring us down, because we've had enough of it already!

You really did a fantastic job! I agree with bethmorrison: you have the passion, the thing--the "it" factor. Keep it up!

Try and make better use of the space around you. Don't remain so stationary. Vary the rate of your voice more. Just trying to help you better yourself.

WANNED! WANNED! Not wained, damn it.

hello mr Bazan Hoo-Ha! it was compelling, your Hamlet. when i experience such artistry it cleanses my soul from the troublesome experiences like our govt and Katrina, or Iraq. art is the answer to man s quest for nobility and you got it: I especially like the Hecuba part and your generosity of spirit.

i think i coped on that corner,hahah..great acting.
