  • Why do I always watch this series when I'm depressed? I really shouldn't.

  • Soon, you will be unable to live in a world with even a little happiness. Only Darkness, gloom, and nightmarish visions will you accept as reality with no secrets.

This doesn't affect me 'cuse I'm not the one playing it. :P

  • Your narration is honestly way creepier than the game itself, at least to me. Of course, I've only watched Let's Plays and never played it myself, so I don't know.

  • Only now i realize the gems were important because the princess requires enough gems to be satisfied?

i ignored them from the very beginning.

  • You know thinking on it the cocoron music is very fitting for world x-1. What better music for a happy lie then a song from a game of dreams.

  • Surely this game jests when it makes the enemies stand still so thay you may become the killer of thyself.

  • It was around the "cheery lies" part that I realized the horror hiding under whimsical facades applies to more than just this game... This game changed my perception of reality. It Geroge Orwell'ed me.

  • ......looks fun man

  • "Thankfully it can't get any worse."

    Can't it?

  • This game is like a metaphor for how much life gives you hope, only to depress you to hell and back.

  • Is there a 7-8? If there is..... -shudder-

  • So quick recap.

It goes from happy to so so to dull to withering to dying to hell and then......euuuuugh.

  • Ahhh, I had no idea you could revert ALL the way back to the first world. *sigh* I can relive those happy moments in a world with smiling monsters, blue skies, trees, and flowers. But where did it all go so wrong? D:

  • @zappazoey About world 4, maybe 5, that's my guess.

  • my eyes were used to the dark levels and when it got happier my eyes were like argh it burns!!

  • This game takes your sanity, rips it up, shreds it in a paper shredder, and feeds it to hungry dogs. ...D:

  • 7 levels...AH. Seven levels of Hell.

  • I love how we can hear your sanity slip away...

  • just realized. world 6 music is world 2 music with tempo modulations

  • I remember when my brother shown me this game and I had initially thought that eversion is you go into seperate seasons. But this...

This is no game.... it is a VISION!!!!!!!

A vision that under every happy go lucky game lies a torment... and evil that hides under the guise of today's plastic-fantastic avenue society. An Immoral society...

And the gems seem to represent greed... to appease someone who underneath is a monster..

If you stare into the abyss long enough, it stares into u

  • Hm. I know that, among the Internetites, some horror talent isn't a rare talent, but you actually seem to have a bit of a nack for it, DC. Be proud of yourself. If you aren't already...

    You are, aren't you?

    ...

Well, Eversion isn't. It's not even amused by you.

  • what up with those...ghosts?....

  • there is no story only pain

  • Woah, even happy world is terrifying once you've seen the true horrors of Eversion.

Possibly the most deceiving on earth.

  • the smiles are a lie...

  • "The enemies have taken on an all-too-sinister facial expression. Thankfully it can't get any worse"

    ...

    ...

    ... :(

  • STOP YOUR CHEERY LIES

  • Eversion is always so fun to watch people play. You can just hear them slowly die inside. The best part has to be the first ending though. Either they've gone completely cynical and refuse to believe such niceties as World 1 exist, or they're tricked into believing the once sweet lie is the truth.

  • Eversion is fucking harcore

  • @Chickidydow Megidocore.

  • as you everse from worlds 1-7, the enemys kind of go through a transformaition dont they? the world were they stay still is kind of like a pupe stage or something.

  • Do you know what the worst part about that place was? It wasn't eversions 5,6,7. Because at least you knew where you stood with the creatures of that realm. It was eversion 1. The "bad guys"' smiling faces. The cheerful music. The lie of it. The nagging thought that under this facade lay something dark and sinister. And, finally, the realization that all the cheerfulness and hope of that land only existed to toy with you further.

STOP YOUR CHEERY LIES! IT'S DRIVING ME INSANE!

  • WE MUST EVERSE.

  • I enjoy how melodramatic you are in this LP series. It really spruces up this satanic nightmare.

  • I find it interesting, how your titles, descriptions and in-game comments grow more and more *ahem* insane.

  • What an eccentric performance!

  • World 7-7 is so hellish, it doesn't even get its own music!

  • @IceFireBlast Actually, the music sounds like a heartbeat. You just can't hear it in this video.

  • Stop your cheery lies!!!

  • Yeah, it's always those last two spots... those last 5 gems. So annoying.

  • With complete honesty, I watch these let's plays more for DC's decent into madness then for the actual games themselves.

  • Hell is woven in to the fabric of demensions

  • The video descriptions only add to the horror. [shudder]

  • THEY SEE YOU.

  • H.P. Lovecraft + retro platforming = Eversion

  • I just realized that this is nothing less than an elaborate allegory of Dante's Inferno. Each eversion corresponds to the little guy's descent into a lower circle of Hell.

  • ...Poor guy, he's lost it.

  • Seven levels of hell.

ABANDON ALL HOPE ALL YE WHO ENTER.

  • It's like Hell Temple with lsightly less insanity and more paranoia.

  • Eversion and conquer

  • the story is things are never as they seem

  • No, John, YOU are the demons.

    ... -is shot-

  • There is a reson for no lives the number next to the world number is how dead or alive you are at 7 you are allmost dead with the heart beat in the backround it could get worse.

  • i don't know why but the music of world four is a litlle catchy

  • STOP YOUR CHEERY LIES!

    Absolutely hilarious.

  • That was probably the most frightening ending I've ever seen

  • I gotta say, your dramatic tone of voice is a tad cheesy, DC. But in a good way. Definitely a good way. ^_^ Depending on the way I listen to you, I either get creeped out or calm down somewhat, and in this game, the latter is definitely appreciated. *applauds*

  • No. You are the demons, DeceasedCrab.

  • Dude I have to say you did a great job of depicting a slow side into madnees. I like the contrast of you deeming the "happy" level lies compared to you yearning for it 2 or 3 videos ago.

  • I remember the last 5 gems.

No matter how hard I try, i still remember.

  • Can I please mention that I LOVE the -2 music? It's like if Cocoron stopped taking so many happy pills and started using the recommended dosage.

  • 4:24

"Stop your Cheery Lies! Stop your CHEERY LIES!!"

I can't stop laughing at that.

  • in this LP was not shown but if you get the real ending, the credits appears and you get a "brand new" title screen xD

  • good job! :)

  • EYES, YOU CANNOT APPEASE *ME* WITH MERE BAUBLES! *YOU* are the FOOL!*

*However, old computers and old computer software works like a charm.

  • Stop your cheery lies! ARGH!

  • So uh, not trying to bust your balls here, but the verb form of eversion is "evert", not "everse". Awesome. Maybe I was trying to bust your balls a little. Just a little.

  • I found out that you don't need to get on the cloud with the evert point. (2 to 3) You can just evert by jumping up from the platform underneath it.

Also I think there isn't any difference between 6,7, and 8 except graphics and 'evertable' evert points?

  • and 8:

    - the level shows the real form (totally black)

    - the enemies (violet in evertion 7) and the spines (green) becomes black too

    - creepy music returns

    - fastest blocks destroying, enemies and bleeds

    - spirals becomes red eyes (real form)

    - "world" letters and numbers disappears

    - "????" disappears and leaves only the gems numbers/level total gems (in world 8 never shows anything even on evertion 1)

    - "ready!" scrambles more, sometimes even to the point of show nothing at all as message

  • This game has darkened DC's view of the world. He is slowly becoming that paranoid homeless guy on the corner that says that "They're coming for me!"

  • I don't know if anyone said this but just in case.

You can reach the evert point between x-2 and x-3 by just jumping up from the bottom of the cloud. Also the blocks fall off at x-6 also.

Actually I don't see any difference between x-6 to x-8 except graphics and everting.

  • Lovecraft sure spins a fine web.

  • 1:10

    You have no idea...

  • I almost used the L word in reply to this T_T

    I jest.

I hate this world of acronyms.

    I

    It hurts....

  • So suspenseful!

But I think the most terrifying part is going back to the cheerful Cocoron music...

Its just not the same anymore...

  • I'm very sure this game is to be the bane of DC's sanity.

  • So going through the posts with all the gems still do nothing? We must everse even further? Even all the way to -8? Oh god, I am scared DC, this would be a better 6 Days than 6 Days itself. Trying to run away as the decay of Chzo is unleashed onto the world, the longer the decay remains on the world, the darker it becomes...

  • Congrats on your 777th video DC! :)

Also.....Wow! I didn't think those last five gems were going that hellish. 0_0

  • Wouldn't it be great if DC did some freaky effects with the sound on the last video? Eversion past the fourth wall.

  • I dunno, that might be hamming it up a little. DC already gets pretty immersed in the atmosphere of these things just with his tone of voice and melodramatic monologues and stuff like that, and I think that's a pretty good level of involvement.

  • But it's pretty obvious that he has won the game before (with good ending and all). Not as obvious as with first levels, but still.

  • The thought of backtracking through Hell reminded me of the movie What Dreams May Come, going through Hell & back to save your princess.

  • Ah, I see this game is making you paranoid. I started to notice how world 5 actually looks peaceful compared to it's latter counterparts.

And yeah, "annoying" perfectly describes this level. Good luck with the last area.

Oh, right. DC, have you tried Balding's Quest?

You don't have to LP it, but I suggest trying it, it's fun to mess around with.

  • Wow, I missed quite a bit.

Played eversion myself, both endings. It was fun, but I'm not sure if the nightmares I'll be having are worth it.

  • So, I take it that, just maybe, there are two endings?

  • so much SUSPENSE!!!

  • Good luck on beating the game. I had some trouble with it myself. (I did beat it though)

  • I watched this one while installing Warhammer: Age of Reckoning. Your voice was horribly distorted, slow and scary.

"severaaaaaaaaaaaaal times aaaaaaallllll the waaaaaaaaaaaay forwarddddddd and allllllllll the waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay baaaaaackkkkkkk."

As always though thank you for another great LP.

  • The style of your commentary brings me back to your hell days in Cave Story. It's nice. Although, it may just be me enjoying a mix-up instead of just commentary.

  • Grrr is anyone else having problems with this game? It keeps crashing every 2 minutes its really annoying...

  • Are you on Windows Vista?

  • Im on XP , i found just a moment ago that by using version 1.4 instead of 1.5 it seems to have solved the problem , for now anyway... Thank you for replying tho , Mr.DeceasedCrab :)

  • I really like the world 3 song.

  • Notice how you're saying "Go forward" to refer to the deeper eversions now.

Heh... the darkness has you now.

  • May Heaven smile.

  • And the devil have mercy.

  • @DeceasedCrab And the cheery lies stop.

  • "Averse one last time"

    Hah.

  • Everse. I've been saying Everse the entire game.

  • Oh! Sure took me a long time to realize that the title wasn't "Aversion".

  • Unless that's just part of their lies, too!

  • With this being video 777, do you feel lucky?

  • Oh man, even for a let's play this is a big cliffhanger.

  • excellent cliffhanger, i hate you for it

  • I hate you more!

  • Cherry lies are delicious.

  • Damn you cliff hanger. Damn you to hell or that last world... Same place.

  • Damn their cheery lies!

  • DC, you just love to tease us, waving that LAST video over our heads. You're good at being evil. Ever thought of becoming a super villain?

I wonder if the rabbit hole is worth going deeper into. The top gives us hopes and dreams, and the bottom seems to only crumble them in front of our faces, yelling about stars and something about cancer.

    ...Wrong game.

  • Right level of dread, though.

  • Man, I hated getting the last couple of gems. I suck at Eversion.

  • great commentary DC

  • after going through the later levels, level -1 hurt my eyes. it's just so bright.

  • the music in world -6 remids me of the hotel

  • *shudders* What happened to the cute part!?

  • Hey folks, stop with the spoilers.

  • They STILL don't get it?! What the hell?! I know that it's a bit much to hope that people would know better, but seriously, you've been saying this statement since PART ONE.

Honestly DC, some of your fans. I worry about them.

  • Insert quotes by Albert Einstein, Frank Zappa, and if you're feeling malevolent, PT Barnum.

  • Theres only one way from here

    Pitch black hell

  • tht happened to me alot!

  • This level was really stupidly hard. Not to clear, no, but to get the gems? Oh god.

    Next time on Eversion?

    it hurts.

  • Father, no!

  • What emulator do you use?

  • Never ask me this question. Never. Never Ever.

Furthermore, this game isn't emulated. It runs natively under Windows XP. Probably 2000 too. Vista, unlikely.

  • Oh, ok. I found the game just now, too. Thanks for the info!

    P.S. I won't ask again. I will be a good boy.

  • It runs on Vista with no errors that I'm aware of.

  • Vista IS an error.

  • so friken true >> my pc has vista and it freezes every so often its a pain the the ass

  • The only problem i can find anywhere is not being able to run things that work on xp

  • That is so very, very true.

  • i second that

  • Actually it can run on Vista, but it can be laggy at times and La-Mulana lagged so bad that I don't even want to play it anymore. I hate Vista, I hate it so much.

  • Really? The game runs perfectly on my box.

  • Motivate thou self, download a better OS with backward compatability :)

  • Heck, I have Vista Ultimate and Cave Story's text still overlaps.

    Makes me aaaaaaangry.

  • It's not a console game, it's a freeware windows game

  • Thanks to you Dc i played this terrifying game and its gets uglier from here

  • That description really freaked me out. Nice dramatic commentary. You should do audiobooks.

  • World 7-7 the score isn't even there... Because your success won't save you.

  • I asked for a mission and for my sins they gave me one, the horror. Any way this has been psychotic fun

  • Now mate, I think we had a misunderstanding. I don't know what glitch you thought I meant, but it obviously isn't the same.

At best I'll make a vid of it when your series is over.

  • Yet another incredible DC Let's Play series. I can't wait to see the end to this one!

  • I'm guessing that if you pass through the goal in World -7, you still get the bad ending. Or it doesn't let you go through.

Either way, it'll be fun to see a video where the game simply everts from -7 from -1.

  • I find it funny he has 777 videos and his 777th is this evilness of a game :D

  • It'd be better if it was his 666th video, because then it'd have signifigance since 666 in 'evil'. But 777 has no special signifigance (to my knowledge), so it's not quite as... Dramatic, I guess. Not sure what the word I should use is.

  • and world 7 :D

  • 777 to me means JACKPOT!...straight to HELL!

  • Phew, sigh of relief when you got the last 5! This series is awesome! The narrating on this one and the last one were great, also.

  • The game is based off of a Lovecraft style of horror.

  • Hence the opening quote

  • Aww, now DC can never enjoy Cocoron again. :(

  • I thought Nibble and lack of jet boots handled that already pretty handily.

  • The Wrath of Nibble!

  • Eversing again? >> Either that means x-8 or you have to go all the way back to the beginning/x-1, either way it's gonna be a challenge, so good luck! I can't wait to see the ending!

  • "Next time on Eversion... We everse, one last time."

    Best Let's Play-er ever.

  • DC, CALM DOWN. The description scares me you made for this episode. Also nice videos you ROCK

  • Why calm down?

  • Why so serious?

  • Lesson, everything, even you, are not what they seem. Nice let's play Deceased crab!

  • Sometimes I think this game hates the player and all they stand for. That's why they screw with the mind. I personally think it's a load of crap and

    THEY SEE US

  • Um. Is it bad if I find this one spot in my house where everything gets darker?

Yeah, I'm not going to sleep tonight.

  • Here's a way to solve that.

Go into the bathroom and light a candle. Turn out the lights and face the mirror. Take a deep breath, and then just begin saying "Hastur Hastur Hastur Hastur Hastur Hastur Hastur Hastur".

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • I don't have a nervous disposition, but this game may give me one if I keep playing it.

  • We must everse... FURTHER!

  • SANITY...is for the WEAK.

  • My, what a traumatized little flower.

  • i like the world 2 or 3 music the most. it makes me happy inside.

  • It lies...

  • I think this line deserves more recognition.

  • No, DeceasedCrab, you are the demons

  • He's already a zombie, dude.

  • You know what? Asides from the 'scary' imagery, the game is actually a fun platformer. The "seasons" bit is interesting and the obstacles are rather original.

Plus the fact that you don't have limited lives and you can continue easily. It kinda diminishes the challenge, but it still makes this into a short, fun game.

  • you're right, it is pretty fun in an "oh crap, everything is trying to kill me and I'm sinking slowly into insanity" kind of way.

  • Infinite lives does not diminish the challenge in any way. It simply reduces the amount of time you have to spend between attempts to overcome the challenge.

  • The moral of the story is if at first you don't succeed, everse everse again.

  • the anticipation is killing me.

  • i was hardly bothered at all by this game. the only thing that got to me was the heartbeat (but putting on some C64 chiptunes resolved that). And i beat it at 20 minutes past midnight!

  • STOP THE CHERRY LIES! Or Cheery...whathave you.
