What caliber is it? Is it 7.62x51 or 5.56x45? An M-134 is 7.62x51 and is mounted (usually on vehicles). An XM-214 is 5.56 and never went into serial production due to its impracticality. If you ask me, this sort of weapon doesn't belong in this game. It's a worse Hollyw0od cliche' than a SPAS-12 or a Desert Eagle. Plus, it's to0 inaccurate to be even the least bit useful. I'll stick with the SG550, the AN-94, and the AS Val. Those are weapons that belong in the Zone.
What could they have used the XM-214 for, anyhow? A cheap way for infantry to engage Soviet helicopters without using expensive missiles or a prototype platform for a CIWS gun? It's quite a bit overkill for the standard infantry-portable machinegun applications.
Ever saw a real gatling firing? The spin up time is really really short. That dramatic, 3 second long spin up known from other games isn't quite realistic.
Good Game!!

Nice gun, but the sound effects are sadly unsatisfying.
Make it sound like the minigun in Predator, and you have a winner.

Iggs, look close. "7.62x51 FMJ" in the lower corner.

Oh yeah. *facepalm* Should have thought of that. So it IS an M-134 (which is a Vulcan but is NOT a Minigun). I think I'll stick with the PKM.
IggyHazard 2 years ago
Actually, the M134 is the MInigun. The "Vulcan" is the M61 20mm aircraft cannon.
The XM214 is called "Microgun".

This isn't oblivion as in Elder Scrolls IV, this is Oblivion Lost, which is a mod for the game STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl

What, could they not program walking animations for this weapon, or a time delay when it spins up?

@fredmachine actually it takes over a second to go to full speed, but it fires while spinning up
