  • @PonyofDuality (arm cuts) *stab**stab**stab**stab**stab**stab**stab**stab*

  • I made the second COMMENT in this video THREE YEARS AGO!!!!

go to the last page of comment, man so long has passed!!! what an amazing song this is~~!!!!

  • Oh gosh no.........not Asuka's Death......when I saw the moment that she was losing and....*shiver* getting ripped apart by those.....god forsaken Mass Production EVA's...I was acting the same way as Maya Ibuki in that part even the "I kill you I kill you I kill you" one which made me like 0_0......Asuka....what have you become D:

  • You know that a movie was really effective when merely listening to a particular track from its score makes you cringe uncontrollably.

  • @rcarlson1993 One song. One death. Endless torment. This move is too beautiful for words.

  • 2013

  • asuka's death was probly THE hardest to watch, very heart-wrenching up to her last minutes...

  • ikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyouikillyou

  • Everytime I see Asuka's death scene, a image of the 300 Spartans at Thermoplaye comes into mind, fighting to the very end as warriors only to be struck down by arrow/lance fire in the very end.

  • @PSYCOMETAL She was pretty amazing, yeah

  • Reminds me of the music from Rebuild.

  • @Aioria1892

Just, so you know. He didn't realllly spoil anything. The internet is a spoiler free zone. If your looking up music or media of something that has already come out. It's best to watch it before you do that.

I do the same thing with TV Tropes and Youtube. If something interest me enough for me to go around browsing it's media, I watch it ASAP.

  • always thought it was sorashiki nagare.. XD

  • I listened to this track continuously while reading Evangelion Re-Take. You guys should try it. It made reading it so captivating

  • @kurtis1457 Sorry, I couldn't help but laugh imagining reading the sex scenes with this in the background.

  • 2:25 probably the best part of the song.poor asuka

  • La canción de la muerte de Asuka, TT.

  • Remember what was Asuka's plea in Death and Rebirth: "Don't kill me" When she dies in the movie, is the trigger for the end of everything. Her lost meant the lost of the will to exist and the power to go on. Her free untamed spirit is literally devoured by progress and the spawns from a mechanized cold neglecting world. By all means, Asuka's death is indeed the end of Evangelion.

  • has any eva fan really NOT watched eoe by now...

btw great music, shiro sagisu is a fucking god

  • Wait, hold on. When does Asuka die? I watched everything, and I can't recall her dying! I should re-watch the series.

I'd love an answer to this because I'm a little confused.

What movie or OVA is this a soundtrack for? Didn't this come out in the series as well?

  • @dandiaz19934 This is from the End of Evangelion, it's a movie that's meant to be the real end of the series (instead of episodes 25 and 26 which were made that way because of a lack of funds). Sadly part of the movie has been spoiled for you now.

  • @Ozymp The thing is i've seen the movie and OVAs, but I remember that in the end of the movie only Asuka and Shinji are left in the world, at this beach filled with LCL (or blood maybe?). And Asuka even tells Shinji, "you disgust me" in the end. When do you guys think she actually dies?

  • @dandiaz19934 She actually dies at the end of the fight against the Mass Production Evas, thing is that she was part of 3rd Impact and so could reshape her body from the sea of LCL. Actually Shinji probably reverted to LCL and reshaped his body too because he reappeared outside of Eva-01 at the end.

  • @Ozymp Oh that makes perfect sense now! Thank you very much, sir

  • @Ozymp We don't if anything he saw or was even seeing at the end was real.

  • @CaptHawkeye We don't know, but we can be pretty sure. No comments or anything in the script even hint at it being a halucination. If it were a hallucination then when did Shinji lose touch with reality, what would be the truth? We know he did get into Eva-01 so if what he was seeing wasn't real, is he still inside, was 3rd Impact not undone? What happened at the end is widely regarded as truth as far as the Evangelion universe, if you want your argument to gain popularity, I recommend evageeks.

  • When the music ends.....so does Asuka..... :(

  • I love this piece, it's so... TRAGIC

especially the dissonant soft piano parts that play when the MP Evas go all vulture-ish.

  • the best of the best, i think this is the main masterpiece of all shiro sagisu career till today, even more than thanatos, which is other great masterpiece of course.

  • One of the BEST scenes in the movie. Period.

  • This really is a beautiful song. But all I can hear now is Asuka's screams.

  • @ndalum75: Yep.

  • i love this movie, and this song, oh the battle between asuka and the Eva serise is my favorite battle. it was the most epic and emontnal battle, and this song works well for that battle, at first it kinda starts out slow then it gets real emontnal, i still feel a shvier when i think of this fight.

  • THE BEST SCENE OF THE ANIME HISTORY

EVA-02 Being ripped apart by the EVA-SERIE

And the new battle EVA-02 vs ZERUEL in rebuild.

Shiro Saguisu your music is magic.

  • technically through instrumentality everyone physically dies, but their souls are merged as one, returning them to the garden of eden, Asuka's death was just particularly gruesome

  • "...not with my mama watching over me!"

    "...Mother..."

  • Whats the point or use for adding a new character named MARI????

I don seem to like it coz she spoiled the original evangelion series.....

    Can anyone tell me ??

  • @chewinggum56 Why are you now suddenly talking about Mari? Mari doesn't spoil anything, it was a real pity that she wasn't in the original. She was thought up by Anno and designed by Sadomoto like all the others, so she is in there for the same reason that Rei or Asuka are there. Mari represents the concept of walking straight forward and trying everything, even if there's setbacks. Not to mention that she is a walking mass of badass.

  • @KendrixTermina Hmm....I see. But yet I still dont like her... =(

  • @chewinggum56 Well, Personal taste, I guess. Perhaps she'll grow on you in 3.0.

  • @KendrixTermina Yeah...and I cant wait for 3.0!!!! =D But sadly I have to wait for another year for the blue ray disc 3.33......

  • @chewinggum56 At least u have a blue ray player *needs to buy one as soon as she has a job*

  • Asuka :(

  • Retake also heavily implied that she was gangraped by the mass production evas before they tore her apart. But I guess EoE was already terrible enough without an image of that being brought up

Poor Asuka always getting the worst treatment from the directors :(

I hope we get to see her kick some real ass in the new films. And not get horribly mauled/molested in the process

  • @Veerwhil Retake was a fan-made doujinshi. Also, I think the picture of Asuka getting raped was more for symbolism, not to imply that it had actually happened. :)

As for your hope that she doesn't get horribly mauled in the new movies...heh. Well, you'll see.

  • @Pr3ttyL0v3 Asuka was WHAT!? When?

  • @Rezindez If you're referring to my comment to Veerwhil...we were talking about Re-take, which is a very well-known Evangelion doujinshi. I suggest you look it up if you're interested!

One version contains sexual content, but there's a PG version as well.

  • @Pr3ttyL0v3 What's a doujinshi?

  • @Pr3ttyL0v3

I've watched Rebuild. No comment about that. I hope she gets her screentime's worth in 3.0. Though some say it's not really the same Asuka (due to changes to name, personality, hair color).

Also Eva is all about symbolism. The boundary where what really happens on screen and what is implied is very thin.

  • @Veerwhil You're right. It is mostly up to interpretation. Still, there was nothing to imply in EoE that she was being raped. Like I said, Re-take was a doujinshi. People have been pointing out, though that the new movies almost seem to be heading in a Re-take direction in that maybe the Rebuild films are one of Shinji's alternate worlds mentioned at the end of the series. Just a coincidence, probably, but still...

  • @Veerwhil And I was disappointed with the lack of Asuka, too. I really wish the Rebuild had gone over the material from "Both of You, Dance Like You Want to Win". I guess we should just be happy that she WILL be back in 3.0.

  • @Pr3ttyL0v3 wait whats 3.0? everyone keeps saying that.

  • @Ironyumi5 Evangelion 3.0 is the third of the new Evangelion Rebuild movies. If you don't know what they are, it's basically a redoing of Evangelion. The first of these movies was mostly the same as the first several episodes, but the second went in a totally new direction, even introducing a whole new character. Check 'em out! The first is on DVD and I think the second is soon to come to DVD. No idea when the 3rd movie will come to theaters.

  • @Pr3ttyL0v3 i just wish someone would post um on youtube!!! but you bet your ass ill check um out!!!

  • I really hate Asuka but on the movie she gain all my respect and... her death is such horrible. When i see her eye bleeding, with pain, despair and berseker.. i just began to cry.. and what a lot of pain i felt when i see her arm cut it off... and the holy end...

Just... it's... oh... horrible... and later she was resurrected and abandoned on a empty world with a man that love her on so desructive way that he want's to kill her... it's just fair... xD she is better death, i think...

  • Aw. Yeah you're right. A child being torn to shreds is too brutal and unfair. Watching it was like watching a baby being killed when it didn't have a chance to live yet. This music made it all the more emotional. =(

  • @chocolatechoctaw seeing asuka die was like seeing a toddler being torn apart by a pack of bears. it leaves emotional scars on you... but then again, some things are meant to be seen (or rather meant to be impossible to un-see).

  • @ishouldplayzelda Maya's forlorn cries made it all the more worse. I had to pause the movie when she begged the berserk Asuka to stop.

  • @BackstageGunslinger i know. the thing that really pissed me off is when asuka was dying Aoba says "are they gonna finish her off?" like she's a fighting dog or something but when he sees unit 02's monitor his expression was like "...shit". it was weird because one second i hated Aoba, then the next second i felt sorry for him because it seemed like he felt sorry being an ass.

  • One thing I never got to understand who or what throw the longinius lance that pierced her AT field and impaled her in the eye?

  • It was one of the Mass Production Evas'. Their spears turn into replicas of the Lance of Longinus.

  • The only one I can think of doing it is the one she cut its leg off. Because one she went through with her fist to crush another, thats 2, the first one she killed by smashing its head and crushing its body thats 3, the one with the impaled face with the knife thats 4, one with cut arm and broken neck, 5. One that appeared with its upper half flying away, 6. One with spikes on its face, 7. One crushed with the spear, 8. An the is the one with the cut leg but she counts it as dead or done.

  • the Eva Series had replica Longinus'.

  • Doesn't realy answer my question, they were all dead as far as I know, which one threw it?

  • There were 9 MP units. Asuka only took out 8.

So there was a unit somewhere off screen that managed not to get fucked over by Unit-02.

  • @Calheb there was one eva that you only see Asuka cut off its leg. unless she did some off screen damage, that perticular eva model through the lance of longinus copy.

  • The passage of emptyness...

  • yeah, but you forgot the fuyutsuki's butt, kaworu's balls and kensuke's boobs

  • actually true

  • actually if you think about her bandages, technically they correspond to the injuries she received right before becoming vulturized by the eva series.

  • The director of the english dub said that she felt that Asuka and Shinji had swapped personalities. I dunno, it was too crazy an end to read too much into.

  • Comment removed

  • does that scene in the movie make anyone else feel like a piece of yourself died inside?

  • I know what you mean, it was an impressive and beautiful flurry of violence. Seeing Asuka die was heart wrenching.

  • :, (

  • I hope the Rebuild's fourth film will have a happier ending. In the meantime, look for a manga called The Retake of Evangelion, it's a Japanese artist's 'alternate ending' to Eva, and it's surprisingly good.

  • i've already read it, quite a while ago infact. it's so much better than the angelic days, that manga was shit.

  • Wasn't that the one that read like a shoujo (girl's) comic?

  • i guess, everything was way too happy and convenient to be an evangelion spin off.

  • Dude. I stayed up all night and watched it. It was very good and I was wowed. Thanks for the suggestion. wasn't expecting the nudity though.

  • She didn't die.

  • Asuka DID in fact die. Just because she was at the end of the movie doesn't mean she wasn't killed off prior. Remember Yui's words; that those who have the will to live will return. Asuka was one of those people. There was also no way Asuka could have survived those injuries.

  • @ktzeroii So she died, then came back to life to take on the role of Eve? And Shinji tried to strangle her at the end of the movie so that the human race could finally end?

  • Comment removed

  • @Rezindez

Also: Evangelion doesn't really have a religious connection (all religious terms were thrown in without any significance) and there is no Eve in the Evangelion world. It was written on an Eva trading card that Shinji strangles Asuka because he needed "to feel the existence of an 'other'. To make sure of rejection and denial." In Complementation, all souls accepted one another, but before that, they rejected and hurt each other. He wanted to prove that pain existed once again.

  • @Pr3ttyL0v3 So he strangles Asuka to prove to himself that the flaws of the humanity still exist?

  • @Rezindez That's it exactly!

Do you know what a manga is? A doujinshi is a fan-made manga. So it's a graphic novel made using characters from an anime or manga that's already in existence. It's not official because it's not made from the original creators; just fans having fun.

  • @Pr3ttyL0v3 Alright. Thank you for helping me understand what is widely considered one of the most confusing plotlines in anime!

  • @Rezindez Ehat the last scene meant is up to interpretation. It could be anything from what you just said to 'Shinji saved the world'.

  • @ktzeroii Haha, look at this guy trying to make sense of the series.

  • @CinemaZebra ...It's honestly not hard to understand it. You just have to think a little. Everything does make sense more or less.

  • @ktzeroii Nope. If you think you do you're just lying to yourself. Sure you can have interpretations that look good but there's no way of proving that you're right.

  • @CinemaZebra For certain things left intentionally vague..of course. But the majority of Evangelion is very simple to understand, it just seems complex on the surface.

  • @ktzeroii That I can mostly agree with, although I don't know if I would use the word "majority".

  • @CinemaZebra ...well.. what isn't easy to understand?

  • @ktzeroii The last two episodes, the movie (and which one is real or if both were real), who Rei is, who the Angels are, NERV's true purpose and what they're hiding, the end of the movie (actually the entire movie), and the rebirths. It actually doesn't matter, because the viewer knows about as much as Anno and he's made it pretty clear that the movie was a "fuck you" to the fans anyway, so therefore making sense of it is pointless. The Rebirths are a different story though.

  • @CinemaZebra The ending to the TV show, and the movie are both the EXACT same ending. They're just told from different perspectives. Rei is clone of Yui, with the soul of Lilith, her entire character arc is about becoming her own person, which in the end she gives up for Shinji. It explains what the Angels are, and the purpose of NERV.... pay attention a bit more. The movie is in no way a 'fuck you' to us fans... do you seriously believe that?

  • @ktzeroii Nice interpretation, but like I said earlier, you can't prove that you're interpretation is right. (no matter how much you "pay attention") If they were the same ending, why would Hideaki Anno bother to make the Rebirths? And yes, the movie is a 'fuck you' to the fans. That's not even a matter of "belief", Anno has pretty much admitted it. There's avant-garde and then there's just bad writing. But never mind me, it's pretty clear that we can't reach an agreement.

  • @CinemaZebra Umm, that's not interpretation... that's all fact. The EXACT same events that happen in the TV series still happen in the End of Evangelion movie. They are the same. The difference is that by End of Evangelion they actually had money to spend thanks to Death & Rebirth, and profits from the TV series adding up. For the TV ending they literally had nothing, hence all the reused animation cells and sketches used. If you don't want to accept it, then that's your problem.

  • @CinemaZebra I didnt find it a Fuck you. I like this ending much better, its so deep.I really associate with Ikari Shinji so thats probally why i liked this ending.

  • @ktzeroii

What confuses me is Asuka's injuries. I mean, she has an eye-patch where she lost her eye and a cast on the arm that was split in two. But if she was reverted to LCL just like everyone else, when she reformed, why didn't her injuries disappear? And where did those bandages come from? Was Anno just screwing with us by making Asuka look like Rei Ayanami in her first appearance?

This series is the definition of mind-screw. I'm so glad that Rebuild is being made by a healthier Anno.

  • @Numbnut10 To be honest, Anno was not depressed when he made Evangelion. He had just gotten over it.

  • @Numbnut10

It's all symbolism dumbass. No offense though.

  • @infinityblablabla

    No offense taken, dumbass.

  • @Numbnut10 Maybe because she was injured in her last frame of conciousness, and her reversion from the LCL was in that same state.

Something like Residual Self Image in The Matrix.

The bandages wouldn't have reverted to LCL in the beginning, as they have no AT-Field to begin with. I just don't know how they've gotten applied to her, as Shinji doesn't look like he was in a mood to put them onto her. Being Mentally breakdowny, and all.

  • @ktzeroii

    I agree with you 100%.

  • yes :(

  • damn, this is good 'last-ditch attempt' music

  • its like someone you truely loved is dying in your arms its so sad.

  • I love this theme

  • The flow of emptiness

  • This is one of the very best songs that Sagisu has ever composed. No doubt about it. But it's too sad for me. The song played before Asuka dies, my favorite character.

  • Great composition. This dreadful feel of impending tragedy. Sad and frightening at the same time. Amazing piece of work, really amazing.

Along with 'Air' it always makes me remember the most depressing and the most beautiful scenes of EoE.

  • justamente una muerte digna para una guerrera, sin energia, modo berserk....

los mataré, los mataré, los mataré, los mataré, los mataré, los mataré, los mataré, los mataré, los mataré, los mataré, los mataré, los mataré......

  • Ella no murio.

  • she did not died, what the hell are you talkin to. the eva 02 died

  • Yeah and she died with it. Do you not understand how the Eva-Pilot link works?

  • then anno gathered the dragon balls and she came back to life

  • there were no dragonballs shinji wished asuka was with him again.

  • No, Yui said that you can return to human form if you want it bad enough. So Shinji and Asuka were the only two people on Earth who wanted it bad enough. Although people may begin to want it bad enough later on.

  • @GOODPLAYA20 Or maybe Asuka was just the second one to return. If you look closely, Shinji apparently had time to errect grave markers for everyone, and one was destroyed. So we can assume that Asuka walked out of the sea, kicked her grave thingie ("I'm still alive, you baka!") and laid herself next to Shinji. Shinji having been alone for god knows how long could explain what he did to her when he noticed her...

  • @KendrixTermina Yeah, that could be true, a normal person being alone for a long time can get fucked up, so Shinji being alone for a long time, who knows what could happen?

  • Kill yourself...twice.

  • with the dragonballs

  • nasar7s right dude.

  • the best of the best, i think this is the main masterpiece of all shiro sagisu career till today, even more than thanatos, which is other great masterpiece of course.

  • this actually made me sob for real this is beast

  • Man, I love this song.

  • Este tema es pura oscuridad épica. No sólo es el mejor tema (original) de toda la banda sonora de Eva, sino que también es lo suficientemente bueno como para estar en el cd después de un tema de Bach.

  • As opposed to American TV shows and movies, where the whole world is the USA and the Pentagon.

The world outside of Our Heroes' home is probably less absent in Eva than most 'fate of the world' type works. There's a sense that things are going on elsewhere, with references made to NERV units and events in Germany and the US. The main action takes place in Japan because that is where the black moon crashed long ago and where Lilith is held, attracting the angels. It makes sense.

  • And the fact that everyone else on the planet died as well doesn't affect you as much as Asuka's death?

  • This song is played when Asuka dies; hence, his comment.

  • Must be in another released version of the movie, because I don't have that song playing on my DVD copy when Asuka dies

  • One person's death is a tragedy. A billion people's deaths is a statistic.

  • is that a steven wright quote?

  • It's often misattributed to Joseph Stalin, as in "One death is a tragedy. A million deaths, just a statistic."

But according to Wikiquote, it's most probably from a novel "Der schwarze Obelisk" by Erich Maria Remarque.

  • infinitamente divina _o_

  • si es de lo mejor q eh ecuchado en toda mi vida genial!!!

  • 私のこと my song.....

  • this is my fav song from evangelion.

  • Asuka !! The best !!

    :D

  • This song is sooooo incredible the beginning part is really bone chilling. I need to get this album ASAP!!!!

  • this song is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!remember me the battle of asuka(the best battle of evangelion)and her dead...i love it

  • this is the best song!!!!

  • Simply Amazing!
