hey bud....check out my 6.5 videos...yours sounds sweet...mine has the stock pipe with no muffler too, but i got some tuning done to it, it lopes pretty good....video quality aint the best thou

@em1b16a2vtecsi ...thanks....it has injectors, advanced timing, machanical pump, used to have an electronic, cold air....i wanted to lower the compression from 22:1 to 18 or 19:1 compression, but i dont know if the bottom end will handle it, so i just stop with those lol truck gets a good 18-19mpg its a 1500hd with 3:73's

6.5 diesel's always smoke white when their cold....my 96 6.5 smoke an i have advanced timing, advanced fuel pump an aftermarket injectors in it....the 6.5's were famous for smoking when first started...nothin wrong with them

the white smoke is probably just thepump timing being off a lil bit. stanadynes are very sensitive to timing and it looks worse than it probably is because its not up to temp yet. my 7.3 idi is the same way. same pump

They know nothing. I'd like to see em start an old no turbo powerstroke and watch it smoke blue/white the whole time.

@honda300ex03 We have a 1997 6.5, 3500 - after its been sitting for a few hours (in any weather), when I crank it, it starts to idle really rough until finally it stops shaking and idles normally. If for example I go to town to pick something up, it starts right up no problem when I go home (no rough idle), maybe because the engine has been runnin and the batteries got a good charge? The batteries are very old, that might have something to do with it, idk. If u got any info man Id appreciate it

when did you last replace the glowplugs? If their on their way out or bad the truck isn't going to be able to combust the fuel well until it warms up and it will knock bad and blow white smoke

Anyways I hope they are reliable i want to pick up an oold dually ext. cab for grocery getting/trips, and Ive got a  2006 5.9 cummins spd manual for work but its just a single cab.

oh and if Detroit diesel's are garbage, then why was the Detroit 60 Series an optional engine in Kenworths, Peterbuilts, Freightliners, Volvos, and even Macks???? fact of the matter is, Detroit made one of the most fuel efficient heavy duty diesels that you could get at that time. 8-9mpg loaded compared to say a Cummins N14 averaging 6-7mpg.

when u run a diesel hard ur suppost to let them sit runnin for 10mins, befor shuttin them off, and yes that does mean revin them up to 2000rpm over and over again,... and puffs of white smoke over and over dont mean its cold,.. it would have steam rollin out the exhuast when u shut it off if it was cold, got a "96 i kno,... ether u got some water in the fuel, not gettin enuff fuel,... or its just plain fucked

@33countryboy i guess you do know everything about my truck since you have a 96. even though there are a considerable amount of differences between the 93 and 96 6.5's. idk where you got the "10 minute rule" from? more like dont let your egt's to exceed 400 degrees or oil will bake in the cylinders...it was mid 80's that day so idk how steam would be rolling outt the exhaust after i shut it off either? its quite funny reading all of you guys smart ass comments. keep em' comin'

Better get your check book out and get those head gaskets replaced b4 you fry the head which 6.5s are know for. I was an owner of a 92 k3500 and a 95 3500HD. They were strictly work trucks and both 6.5s were swapped for a 454 gas.

@yurifiero no shit.. yeah you have to let them cool down before shutting them off. if... only if your egts are over 400 degrees. get on diesel powers website and look it up. had the heads and everything replaced 2 years ago..... last but not least. watch some of my other videos with the truck at RUNNING TEMPERATURE. when i made this video, the engine was cold. not cold like me jumping in the truck for the first time then revving the shit out of it. not quite running temp here
