I'm not sure that music is dead nowadays, like someone says... because every time you listen to something like this song, the music is live inside you.

i understand that i understand nothing. i am continually unlearning. i am climbing down the mountain of knowledge. when i reached level ground , then i can procede to venture upward . the road between knowledge and wisdom is love. we dont control what we get in this life , only what we give. in the book The Prophet , by Gibran, he says " in the end you will understand the hidden purposes in all things , and you will bless the darkness as you have blessed the light. " keep giving, keep loving.
stop judging or you will never escape the duality. sorrow ,joy , pain ,pleasure, right , wrong etc. this has been going on since time began . you cannot change the world only yourself. look to God , wait in patience, keep showing kindness , forgiveness , humility , non judgement etc. etc. when we are worthy , when we are ready , for new understanding, the light will come . i love you all ie. i allow you to be what and who you choose to be. for if your God allows you to be , how can i not.
@Derekspop ..If your God allows you to be.. According to scriptures the God's seem to do the most judging. A brave man to judge you wrong but could God be the self awareness of the Universe? If so no more or less or different than each of us and the undeniable energy between all co-existing life? Still.. the most profound and inspirational comment I have read on youtube, peace Brother/Sister :)
cat was always beautiful. still is . just that the ugliness in peoples hearts blind them. he loves now more than ever.if you want to see this love , you must love all. love is not always to like , but always to let. namaste
@clandry6281 Yes because music stopped being real. Tastes changed, music never stopped being music, however your "taste" stopped. Maybe think before you post, you almost sound over 12, don't scare us by saying you're 13...
I love this song and the fact that people always comment about religions and argue instead of focusing on the beauty of the art makes me very sad. Cat Stevens is a wonderful artist who cares about his personal beliefs.
@kimolesen Absolutely beautiful in song and thought. Must've been meant for us to pass along that same kind of genuine care for another. I do think it's the one thing that keeps this world spinning :).
@zelden666 I just returned from a conference of archaeologists who, for the past 16 years or so, come together to share their finds. It's open to the public. Most of these archaeologists are renowned authors of their work. Interesting how, during each talk, all of them involuntarily referenced the Bible to validate their finds. I think I would've been too embarrassed to ask any of them if they, themselves, were "real" or not. :)
Please activate the option for mobile phones, so that this great song is also viewable on android mobile phones and especially on android tablet PCs (Youtube: "My uploaded videos - Edit - Broadcasting and Sharing Options - Syndication – Yes, make this video available on mobile phones and TV … - Save Changes").
O take heed of yonder dog! Look, when he fawns he bites; and when he bites, his venom tooth will rankle to the death: Have not to do with him, beware of him; sin, death, and hell have set their marks on him, and all their ministers attend on him. He is like a foul misshapen stigmatic, marked by the destinies to be avoided, as venom toads, or lizards' dreadful stings!
Who cares, he wrote this before his conversion and even if he wrote it after it's still a great song, true talent. We could debate religion for a thousand years and never get anywhere, this song only last for three minutes.....time better spent methinks :)
@riastradh2 ... other than needed time spent thinking about eternity, and who it is we're investing in for that. Do love his talent, though - no one like him.
@Catlovertea4 Relax you can spend your life thinking about all that and you'll be in exactly the same position as the guy who didn't. You'll find out in the next phase. I wouldn't worry anyway if there is a divine power who created everything he most likely doesn't have an ego so worshipping him/her/it is kind of meaningless too. Maybe listening to one great tune is all you need to do
@riastradh2 mmmmfor me - I prefer to avoid surprises around that corner. Can't come back and do it over. Cat made his decision on it. I made mine. I prefer trusting in the words of Jesus (John 14:6).. ...which means... I am relaxed... now. :) I do believe, though, that the idea that one guy is in the "same" position as another (in eternity, I mean) - takes more faith to believe. And worshipping God works out for my benefit. Even though I do love my music - it just doesn't compare.
@Catlovertea4 Hey If it makes you happy why not. But I would ask you to consider why you look to the writings of somebody sitting on a rock two thousand years ago who never met the object of his writings for answers. I can assure you he was more lost than you are. No one exists to save you, especially an omnipotent being and y'know thats okay....
@riastradh2 I take it you never read the book. Maybe you don't read history books either, I don't know. From what you wrote it sounds like if history is not in your current schema, then it only plays out the way you've decided. Interesting.
@Catlovertea4 Yes I have, probably more than most people who believe in it have. The bible isn't a history book,it's mostly allegorical,so maybe it's you who isn't used to reading history books or you'd know that. Also aspects of the story of Jesus share an alot with deities that came before him,i think he shares about 19 of the 22 aspects of a hero tale. The virgin birth resurection etc, all happened in other stories of other gods before him.So that story isn't just fake it isn't even original!
@riastradh2 If you read any of the first four books of the New Testament, the book of John, for example, you would've read about the miracles Christ did, and, like no one else of course. You would've read how He was punished under Roman law - for our wrongs. Over 500 people witnessed His death and then spent a month's time with him afterwards (I Corin. 15:3 - 6). Many of them died for what they saw. Would you die for a lie? Maybe you're willing to. I'm not taking those kinds of chances.
@Catlovertea4 Okay I'll go slow for you. It's been proven that no one who wrote any books of the bible ever met Jesus, witnessed his miracles OR his death. In fact there is at least a forty year gap between his death and writing anything. In those days life expectancy was about 30years so nearly two generations. Most of what we know about christianity from that time comes from the apostle Paul and his story was completly metaphorical, Jesus's life and ressurection according to him didn't even
@riastradh2 I see that you have not consulted archaeologists, biblical, at that, Hebrew, even. They use it to uncover finds, which of course, validate what's written. The Bible is not only archaeological sound, but historically accurate. But I don't live by it for those reasons. I haven't heard you cite where you're getting your information, yet. Every belief about our origin and destiny takes faith. It's whatever you find most reliable.
@Catlovertea4 I never said that the bible didn't have a historical backdrop (alot of books do), I never said Jesus didn't exist (just his story is fake).I said the bible was mostly allegorical so not literal and since it contradicts itself should be taken with a grain of salt.No archaeologist has ever validated the fact that Jesus had magic powers, please grow up!Read the study of folklore, read through the points all these stories have in common jesus has 19 of 22 in common with gods before him
@riastradh2 quoting you: "just his (Jesus') story is fake" - You still haven't cited your sources. Jesus proved himself and eye witnesses who testified to his miracles, death, and resurrection. (John 9, for one.) No one else has ever done what he did and what he is still doing in the lives of those who follow him in spirit and in truth - John 4:24. John 3:19 - 21. John 12:37 - 50.
@Catlovertea4 in the physical plain. All of what you believe comes from the writings of the people who took him literally when he never meant it that way. There is evidence a MAN called Jesus existed and was killed in the same way as everyone got killed back then but Santa existed too.We all know that Santas magical powers are made up,but yet you blindly believe in that Jesus had some?People die for lies all the time (think WMD's Iraq) but again it's made up because the story of Jesus is made up
@riastradh2 (quoting you) -"All of what you believe comes from the writings of the people who took him literally when he never meant it that way." -- Who are you speaking for? --- --- "There is evidence a MAN called Jesus existed and was killed in the same way as everyone got killed back then.." -- No, He was killed as criminals were. In fact, Christ took the place of not only one. --- --- "... the story of Jesus is made up" -- Better check your sources.
I love, love, love, adore it. His performance is brilliant, he is talended i don't care about the choices he made in his life... that's his life. I'm just Lisa, sometimes, sad Lisa. lisa lisa, sad lisa lisa.
Hey, all of the comments about Islam- ... this was certainly written and sung before the Cat became a follower of Islam. Enjoy the song for what it is, and stop the hating.
I wish everyone leaving comments here would please just stick to commenting on the song or the performance or the video instead of anything else. It's a lovely song, can we agree on that at least
It’s dull, dull, dull. My God it’s dull. It’s so desperately dull and tedious and boring and unimaginative and irrepressibly drab and awful and desp-er-ate-ly dull.
The purpose of Islam is Islam – the spread of Islam, the subjugation and destruction of all things non-Islamic. There is nothing else to Islam. It feeds off itself and reproduces itself. Islam becomes tyrannical – and dull.
Muslims are boring dull and unimaginative and Yusuf Islam is very boring
Great song, one of my favourites. I caught his last tour in '76 at William & Mary College in Va. One of the best concerts ever. An amazing singer.. I grieved forever after he stopped singing. It was so wonderful that he came back.
@LinkTheBraveOne that sounds hopeful. Can you give one example of a specific Frusciante song that you would judge to be as good as "Sad Lisa"? I'm not trying to be smart here...I'm earnestly searching for good "recent" songs (anything from 1991 onward) that compare to the best of the '60s and '70s.
@takfam07 i can't judge song's,i cant compare anything with sad Lisa becoz sad Lisa is unique.and for example every song of Frusciante is unique.i am just saying there are a lot of beautiful musicians our days (i am not talking about mainstreaming crap) with beautiful influences, like Queen, cat stevens, jimi hendrix. that they are giving their best to express their feeling with music..that's all, music is changing, there is different, beautiful, unique music out there, like Yann Tiersen, frusciante etc.
@sp16199 Congratulations. You want a medal ? Perhaps a written document saying that you're better than your contemporaries who listen to modern music ? If you can't find new music you don't like than your either not looking hard enough or you're missing a chunk of your brain.
@wheresmyelephantt hey i think its you missing a chunk of brain if dubstep likes the song whats it got to do with you? and not liking new music is his choice and nothing to do with you, he is not saying he is any better than anyone else maybe its you that needs a medal commonly known as a stupidity award !!!!!!!
@dudstep Music like this is on youtube now and you're listening to it for free. When it was first released you had to work for 5 hours or more just to have enough money to buy one record.
I have to say, I was born a few decades too late, I wish I'd been born in the 60s so I would have been old enough to go see him in the 70s, but unfortunately I was born in the 90s :(
i was every young when i heard this song form a german guy called neils who volunteered at a children's home that i resided in for couple oof years... will never forget how sad i felt that day! i always think of him and this song is just too beautiful!
@DaLikkaSto - yeah, usually the live versions are a bit faster, you are right...it is because you have more adrenalin and faster heartbeat on the stage than in the studio... the crowd simply drives you wild
Lots of my friends broke their old Cats Stevens reconds when he supported the Salman Rushdie fatwa. I didn't because what he did as Cat Stevens is just wonderful. And I'm glad to hear he has moderated his views. No one deserves to get killed.
Cat Stevens, what an impassioned song writer, a genius of our 60's & 70's generation, a timeless creator with a beautiful soul. His music has no boundaries and no time limitations, just as beautiful then as his music is now!
I've just watched a Yusef Islam: A Few Good Songs on BIO. I loved him in the seventies and what an inspiration he is today. So inspired was I that I've booked to see him in concert in June and have purchased a long forgotten album Tea for the Tillerman. Every song is measured, unpretentious, and from the heart.
Really tiresome to see one comment after another about religion on every music video here featuring Cat Stevens. Who CARES? This guy was an artist from the ground up. Everything he did was heartfelt and executed with talent and class.
No one is writing or performing this kind of music anymore; very few performers
left with this much independence or perspective of their own. Just enjoy the music.
i look to his music not his religion, we all have our beliefs and must respect others beliefs too. CAT is such a great musician and one can see the intense emotion he pours into his performance which is packed with enthusiasm. He looks like a man possessed while he is on stage. He will always be one of my favorites.

I wish everyone leaving comments here would please just stick to commenting on the song or the performance or the video instead of anything else. It's a lovely song, can we agree on that at least

what bullshit from the muslim Yusuf Islam who makes death threats

@redshirtish yawnnnnn!!!!!!!!!

@nencio00 I agree with you
Islam

Beautiful. Where's music like this now? What's up with that?
dudstep 1 year ago 35
@dudstep there is music like this now...just check better....for example check john frusciante, his solo work is a piece of art ;)
LinkTheBraveOne 11 months ago
@LinkTheBraveOne that sounds hopeful. Can you give one example of a specific Frusciante song that you would judge to be as good as "Sad Lisa"? I'm not trying to be smart here...I'm earnestly searching for good "recent" songs (anything from 1991 onward) that compare to the best of the '60s and '70s.
takfam07 11 months ago
@takfam07 i can't judge song's,i cant compare anything with sad Lisa becoz sad Lisa is unique.and for example every song of Frusciante is unique.i am just saying there are a lot of beautiful musicians our days (i am not talking about mainstreaming crap) with beautiful influences, like Queen, cat stevens, jimi hendrix. that they are giving their best to express their feeling with music..that's all, music is changing, there is different, beautiful, unique music out there, like Yann Tiersen, frusciante etc.

sp16199 8 months ago in playlist CAT STEVENS
@sp16199 Congratulations. You want a medal ? Perhaps a written document saying that you're better than your contemporaries who listen to modern music ? If you can't find new music you don't like than your either not looking hard enough or you're missing a chunk of your brain.
wheresmyelephantt 8 months ago
@wheresmyelephantt hey i think its you missing a chunk of brain if dubstep likes the song whats it got to do with you? and not liking new music is his choice and nothing to do with you, he is not saying he is any better than anyone else maybe its you that needs a medal commonly known as a stupidity award !!!!!!!
karlotter68 7 months ago
@dudstep Music like this is on youtube now and you're listening to it for free. When it was first released you had to work for 5 hours or more just to have enough money to buy one record.

I have to say, I was born a few decades too late, I wish I'd been born in the 60s so I would have been old enough to go see him in the 70s, but unfortunately I was born in the 90s :(

Why do performers always feel they have to speed up the song ? Is her in a hurry to get off the stage?
DaLikkaSto 1 year ago
