I hate to dwell on religion here, but can we just note that when Cat wrote all of this beautiful and profoundly moving music, he was Christian? An Anglo and Christian background is what formed him into the great man he was/is. His conversion as an adult is his choice and everyone should let him be, but all the Muslim's seem to take credit for him, when they should count themselves as lucky that he is in their company.
@misslanvin It amazes me how nobody seems at all concerned that this "great man" once called for the death of Salman Rushdie and said he would like to see him burnt alive - rather than just in effigy. I was a huge Cat Stevens fan but that finished me. I know people say his songs have nothing to do with his religion and we should keep them separate. I can't agree.
I've been listening to Cat Steven way back when. I have all his albums and had the pleasure of seeing him in concert, which was unbelievable and one that I would never forget. For what ever reason he decided to stop singing, writing, and recording it hasn't matter to me, I still feel he is a great artist. I also wish him well with ever he is doing now.

The difference I notice is the subdued, sadness he projects. If you watch his live performances of this song from earlier, he was so animated and jubilant. It's kinda sad to watch.

Why can't everybody just get over Yusuf/Cat's religion and get back to the music. Just about every comment on his song on youtube is about his beliefs and has just turned into a fight about religion. It should be just about his music, not about who he is and has become. I am Christian and I believe that he is a very inspiring musician, regardless of his beliefs
