Thx for the reply, but i do agree with you that its more than necessary for people to start caring about earth.
We just did a reflection paper on "An Inconvenient Truth" for our environmental science class. I've watched the film myself for more than 3 times, and it still pains me everytime to see how people lack the consciousness on such serious matters
The important thing for humans to do is stop over populating.
Women need to have only one child until our population declines to about 100 million. Then there will be no starvation, oil shorages, energy shortages and there will be less war. Cheers!
Even if there were only 100 million people in the world, I think there would still be starvation. 1 million of the greediest people would hog all the resources and manipulate all the other people into fighting each other ...
When people eat cows, for example, they grow grain for the cows to eat, then kill the cows, freeze them etc. If humans just ate the grain in the first place, then we'd use a lot less energy. There are also other factors, like bovine flatulence and gas released by manure.
"Bovine flatulence" = cow farts btw. The NZ government tried to introduce a "fart tax" a few years ago, but lots of farmers drove their tractors to parliament to protest ... and they ended up not doing it. A shame.
You better watch some of "Penn & Teller - Bullshit" episodes especially the one on "Bottled Water".
If your taps are like ours, i.e. you get all the metals additives from rusting pipes, you should get a charcoal filter for your water! It pays off in no time.
Unfortunately, Sarah, nothing, no action of humans, will stop global warming, since humans are not the cause of it, we're merely an insignificant contributor. We can only reduce pollution. :(
Are you sure you didn't mean 'significant' instead of 'insignificant' ?
Volcanic eruptions are the only natural phenomena I can think of whose contribution to global warming might be significant. But surely it's not more significant than what humans are doing ?
There's this huge thing called Sun. It spits gigatons of ionized radiation at us. It also affects Earth's EMF electrically, and can suppress Earths's ability to filter that gigamassive amount of heat enducing radiation. :)
I think you might be right ... I'm not really sure about GW. But I'm really passionate about reducing pollution - I hate dirty seas, rivers, air etc. That's mainly what inspires me to consume less.
Thanks for replying:) But how can it explain the fact that the average temperatures across the globe started rising only recently ? (past century or so ?)
What is the accuracy of the 1900's thermometers versus today! I am not denying the temperature is increasing BUT I would be concerned about the RATE increases rather than MAGNITUDE INCREASES!
As Sarah said, the least you consume the least you pollute!
these options are absurd, i mean hitchhike, can somebody remind me what century were in

What global warming? There hasn't been any for about 15 years. Do your research instead of believing the media crap.
Global warming is a scam.

I didn't know you could stop something that doesn't exist.

these ideas might help slow down the process of global warming... but regarding the issue on stopping... that's a different case

Yes, I think you're right. A silly title really ...

One child per women, don't know about that!
What would women be doing for the rest of the time! I suppose there is always nagging and thanks God for viagara!
FACT: The world has enough resources for 12 billion people and not just 6.4billion as it currently stands.
The issue is inequality and NOT quantity!

If you drink from the tap around these parts theres a good chance youl be pooping all day.
Noah2112 4 years ago
That's too bad. I'm lucky enough to have clean and tasty water flowing from the taps - unlike in many parts of the world :(

Just imagine everyone had good water! Some have more than enough to fill a private swimming pool other's would be lucky to have a drop to drink!
Where is the EQUALITY?
uni000ver000sal 4 years ago
Try some more chlorine in water! Sometimes I wonder if the geane pool could do with some more chlorine too!

I like the "don't eat animal products bit".
Does that includes whales too?

Yes.

you bet, plus I hate fluoride, and chlorine. I've read a really interesting article about fluoride. It's bad....

Very small amounts, not enough to catapult you into the Universe at warp speeds!
Everything we do in life is bad? It amazes me how the human species have grown!

Every little bit helps, both on the consumption and recycling ends of the cycle.
