  • That was Brooks tennis shoe. In my opinion they're just as good if not better than Asics!

  • if you bring stuff like shaving cream and shampoo bring the smallest one you can find. not ever being at an airport before i bought normal sized stuff and they threw it out.

  • @godavidstrong hey man what are the required items to bring? all these videos and info i look at only tells me what i can bring not the required

  • @marksmusicful your not required to bring anything really just bring clothes to travel in. and leave anything civilian behind ie: condoms, knives, computer, jewelry, tobacco etc...

all the things in this video i would definitely recommend though sometimes it is required to buy these items like the towels. and i'm not sure about the whole unscented deodorant thing i mean hell i used axe. also bring your phone you may be able to use it eventually.

  • quiick question are you assigned a battle buddy? or do you pick one?

  • Can you get all this same stuff at Air Force BMT?

  • as a person who starts basic in Augest, I really appreciate your videos! lm sure all the other recruits appreciate these videos too

  • do they let the girls buy pads and tampons??

  • @xeragonx1 no they make them bleed constantly. ofcourse they do.

  • I'm wanting to join the Army. I don't know anyone who is in the Army but I have been warned that recruiters are liars. Could anyone give me some advice please? What do I need to know that they won't tell me or that they will lie about? Thanks

  • @SkylerCowley look up what the recruiter tells you

  • @SkylerCowley So, the recruiters will tell you what you want to hear. They genuinely "don't give two shits". Their job is to recruit...obviously, so they will do what it takes. DEFINITELY do you're homework when referring to any information that they give you.

  • Do you mind telling us what your MOS is?

  • Thank you.

  • thanks a lot for this

  • God bless!

  • I leave for Basic in the Navy in one week for special warfare, but there is honestly no videos, or recent ones, on anything Navy related. Also,, I deemed this a great video so I went ahead and subscribed and what not. Good stuff!

  • so i understand all these are suggestions, my question is ur purchased all these items with ur 250 card? or some with your own funds?

  • @whatryouthinking All can be purchased with the debit card the army provides for you. The only time you need cash is when you want to tip the barber(do it cause the next time he see's you, he wont leave random strains of hair uncut) or when you want to buy extra stuff like battalion shirts and stuff like that towards the very end of BCT

  • Thanks for the information I leave out this June, I have one question tho are you aloud to use lotion while in bct? I sometimes get dry skin on my face and hands, very nice video and I will be subscribing!

  • @MrStonecolddan Yes you can as long as its unscented. if you get any that has any smell to it it will attract bugs and DI's faster than u can say "shit"

  • can you wear contacts at all or is that out of the question?

  • @chuckalucka24 No contacts at all at basic. I had to accept that when I decided to join,

  • to gay for me couldn't watch sorry

  • what is your M.O.S?

  • We had to wear whitey tighties in AF basic

  • No pt on Sunday? wtf?

  • Holy shit that's cool! So I won't need to where the birth control glasses if I have that Eye Pro?

  • @Madmongul No, you won't have to wear BCGs once you get issued the eye pro. You won't get issued the eye pro until you actually get to your basic training company though, so you will have to wear the BCGs in reception and for the first day or two of basic. Then after basic in AIT (depending on your unit) you will be authorized civilian glasses if they meet qualifications.

  • I leave in less then 20 days for OSUT, this hyped me up a lot, thanks man.

  • 20120304 I ship put to Ft Sill, Ok for BCT/AIT

  • i already have all this stuff i am in the army in bct

  • Hi I was wondering, how often do you go/are allowed to the PX?

  • @antuannn1 about once every 2 weeks or so

  • This was a good video. It will come in handy for anyone going to Army basic training. Some things were different from when I went through basic, but that was some years ago when we used BDUs. The only things I would add would be 100-mile-an-hour tape (Duct tape, but never call it that), but you may not use it. I did at Fort Knox, but different training stations and all. Goe gone if you use duct tape at all. 550 cord for lanyards. Pretty much buy extra like you said.

  • Do the lenses in your Shades replace BCG's because those are ugly i would rather have the clear glasses than BCG's. I shipout this summer.

  • @Gecko1230 They don't. They're more for when you require eye protection like at the firing range. You will HAVE to wear your BCGs. On the bright side they are damn near indestructable and you will need function more than fashion. Your shades will break to easily for you to use all the time.

  • Are you aloud to purchase these items before bct?

  • @knightforge13 You can and its not a bad idea to do so, but bear in mind that you will need to carry everything yourself in one bag. Also the prices at the PX are usually cheaper than anywhere else. So the answer is yes, but it will be more practical to buy them when you get there.

  • @otankun222 thankyou, the reasoni was wondering is because my Mother coupons quite a bit, and she has actually gotten a very large savings on items. Secondly do i have to care the items i plan on packing in my duffle ALL of basic or just until we get our bunks and lockers?

  • @knightforge13 Your bag with your personal belongings, or civilian bag, will be locked away for the cycle once you ship from reception. You won't carry everything the whole time, just when you ship. Once at your training unit you will get your TA50 and alot of that you will be carrying around even though you won't be using it.

  • How many shirts and pair of shorts did you buy?

  • I greatly prefer compression shorts underneath my pants. Will i be allowed to wear under armour compression boxers in BCT?

  • great info here man seriously about time i found one of these, wish you could do a quick one on PT schedule on a weekly basis. very fucking informative man thanks.

  • What are the recommended amount ya would recommend for each? I already took the test and got my job listings, I just wanna get all my information before officially register?

  • 7:36 the nice smell turnes into bad smell, then into, what my commander said "FUNK"

  • I cant wear silk boxers

  • Comment removed

  • @CaptainAmerica322 No Compression shorts aren't authorized.

  • how did you become a specialist?

  • It seems like I wont have enough money if I buy extra everything..

  • Excellent video with lots of important Information. Thank you and God Bless ya

  • This video is great. It's clear, you can understand everything you're saying, the quality is fantastic, the information is relevant, and it answers some questions that aren't readily found in other reading/viewing materials. Thank you for posting this.

  • What the hell is this army training clothes or ????

  • what is px

  • @Ascenscion123 Post exchange

  • @westondoland hey man quick question what are tactical gloves for cause i see it in military media also why do they have those kunckle shaped pads

  • @Ascenscion123 For fast roping,mountain climbing etc

  • @westondoland Oh I thought it was for gun gripping (is it) but how come it had that weird knuckle shaped pad on the top what is that for fighting?

  • @Ascenscion123 yeah its to make it easier to grip ammo in the cold, and idk y they have knuckle pads

  • @westondoland Yo I miss the old Military I would love love to serve in ww2

  • What to buy In basic: porn magazines, Lube or Vaseline, a towel and some latex gloves

  • you should put up a video of how the DS wants you to organize your locker and droor for inspection because with all the extra items you recommend it seems like it would be difficult to stay organized and have everything in the right place

  • I had some asshole steal my socks and watch in basic

  • so they have like a little store at basic with all this stuff?

  • Im leaving for basic summer 2012. so i hear a lot about stealing in this video and you also mention purchasing items at the PX. I was only wondering.. do people also steal money to buy items at the PX? would cash or card be better for something like that?

  • @snowboardersrule You are required to have a debit card with a bank account set up with direct deposit for Army pay before you ship for basic combat training. Also, you are encouraged to bring some cash with you when you ship for basic combat training, but no more than $50 cash.

  • @godavidstrong Thank you very helpful. I already have a checking account but I'm thinking of getting another just for the Army. I have MEPS this tuesday (overnight) and wednesday. and if i qualify basic is summer 2012. wish me luck! going for 12Bravo combat engineer.

  • @snowboardersrule I leave the 23 of july. Wbu?

  • @TxGxOxDx93 Wish I knew. MEPS was pushed back another week due to medical issues and missing paperwork. should go this week but being I'm a Jr i'll end up going in June.

  • @snowboardersrule What MOS are you going for? When did you get your ship date?

  • @snowboardersrule when and where are you going? i am also leaving for basic training june 5th to fort benning.

  • @snowboardersrule I leave august 6th. when do you leave?

  • @snowboardersrule you will only need the cash towards the end of BCT to buy like t-shirts and Battalion crest shirts. They will give you a debit card that is linked to the army pay system that will take money out of your paycheck to cover whatever you buy during your time at BCT.

  • @snowboardersrule no one steals in the army you aquire stuff

  • @snowboardersrule Also, be prepared with combination locks. Yes, there is A LOT of stealing going on in BCT.

  • 6:42 between the monitors 20 points!

  • thank you so much david!

  • In BCT, theres no such thing as looking cute. For those of you who worry about how they look.

  • Thanks Davids you answers many of my questions

  • Are you allowed to wear glasses if joining the army? if not are contacts more prefered?

  • @hardheadguy1 Glasses only, no contacts what so ever. Contacts can trap debries against the eye.

  • @Jakerem870tac ok thank you

  • it gets cold!!

  • Great tips, I kinda wanna pack you for basic so you can walk me down the isles of the px, lol just kidding but very informational stuff I'm gonna be well prepared now.

  • @CinNaMonBeauty77 Don't worry, it'll all work out. You'll see. :)

  • @godavidstrong can u go to px more then once??

  • @bolowhiteboy333 Your Drill Sergeant will decide when your platoon can go to the PX which will typically be once a week, but not always. So while you are there stock up on EVERYTHING because you don't always know when you will be back.

  • @godavidstrong Do we need and can we take combination Locks?

  • @TheLocoman209 Yes. And I would encourage you to take a combination lock with you when you ship to have while you're at reception. People steal! Some would argue that it's just borrowing when it comes to the Army. But I say BS!! Don't even trust your battle buddy. Lock your stuff up!

  • @TheLocoman209 There is a saying there is only one theft in the army, everybody else is looking for their shit. The other reason to lock up your stuff is if the DI find a locker that isnt locked they will throw your stuff EVERYWHERE and if you have liquid detergent they will just drench the stuff they throw out of your locker and top it off with your foot power. its happened to me before. NOT FUN. also when you are going with a buddy to the same base stick with him if he's reliabl

  • LOL at the "no-name brand of shoes". Brooks is a really nice shoe company, they also ONLY do running. So unlike Nike and Reebok, you won't see them advertised on every major sports broadcast. my cousin runs marathons and swears by them.

  • Don't they give you around $250 once you get there? They give you a prepaid visa or something correct?

  • @Tuval80DK yea i think so

  • So how much money should I bring to BCT ?

  • Do they lock up wat u already bought from the list? Like unscented deodorant, pens n paper and markers?? I see they took your new shoes........... Ship Fort Jackson 20120130

  • you by any chance going to OCS after Basic?

  • What is the eye requirement so that you don't have to wear the bc's?

  • Omg Love your vids...im going to bootcamp Jan 17th fort Jackson

  • how are you supposed buy all this stuff there i thought your only allowed to bring 50 bucks

  • @brandonm1392 they take $250 dollars out of your next few pay checks to pay for everything

  • Can you join if you take Percsription meds for allergies? If so can you get them at BCT?

  • @BIGNEWSPRODUCTIONS You cannot take any prescriptions with you to BCT

  • @COOKIEJONSTER Can yuu get them there by a military doctor

  • @BIGNEWSPRODUCTIONS yes you can, if the military doctor sees that the medication is necessary they will re-issue you a prescription given by the military pharmacy

  • i ship july 18 anyone else

  • do u but these before training or during the training?

  • @stygian14 First, the things I'm showing in this video are suggestions, not requirements. Second, these suggested items can and should only be purchased once you arrive to your basic training post.

  • @joshholly23 Do what you can to make your stay in BCT comfortable. What I mentioned were suggestions.

  • @godavidstrong No prob. :)

  • hey what kind of camera did you use to film this

  • @monstadakid I use a Canon 5D Mark II.

  • lol weird question but do you wear glasses? im actually referring back to the i-pro sunglasses portion of the video, when you had the lens carrier in.

  • @Cburgtiger Yes I wear glasses. Because I need glasses to see long distances and to fire my weapon they provide an insert for the eyepro. Good catch! :)

  • I am going into the airforce, and I can't find anything as detailed as this. do you know if this is almost as true for the USAF?

  • @emofestjazz Regardless of what military branch you are "applying" for everyone goes through the same processing at MEPS. It's only different once you ship off to your branch's basic training site/post.

  • I leave in 18 days and I just barely found your videos.! I subscribed as well. I have a question. All of these items you speak of to buy, WHEN do I buy them ?At BT/AIT or before I even ship out?

  • than k u!!! lol jajajaa vomit green towers? O.o

  • Wow you are so articulate and intelligent. Why are you a spc and not an officer?

  • @PushyLittleKid I'm currently working on getting commissioned as an officer as we speak. :)

  • @godavidstrong Are you doing ROTC or OCS?

  • were u going im shipping out 23 to fort jackson my mos is 91b

  • very informative. i will ship off may 24, i will keep ur tips in mind when i visit px, thank u so much

  • are you allowed to bring lotion to moisturize your skin? because my skin gets dry really fast. how about chapsticks?

  • whats that in the background looks liek the matrix pretty tight

  • @ronjr77 I'm The One. lol jk It's The Matrix Screensaver that I found for Mac through Apple.com's downloads section.

  • @godavidstrong lol that col man so what yo mos where u stationed at

  • @ronjr77 I am an 88N - Transportation Management Coordinator. We move the Army in other words.

  • u buy all these things at bootcamp?it seems like u can buy all these items at home. would they get mad if u buy them at home?

  • @therealmistamike Please believe me when I say that you do not want to buy more than what your recruiter instructs you to bring when you ship to basic training. you will get a lot items during reception in addition to what you bring with you. remember that once reception is over you will be taken to your basic training company whereupon you will be given a 'shark attack' by your drill sergeants. they will smoke the crap out of you with all the crap on your back. you cannot put it down.

  • @godavidstrong thank u bro! so was urs packed since u bought extra stuff?

  • Thanks David!

  • thank you!

  • @apogeus1 Quite welcome. :)

  • I leave for fort benning on the 15th thanks for the advice. And do you know anything about getting a shaving profile in the army

  • @Coreeville You're welcome. Yes. But in order to get one you have to actually show signs of serious breakout on your face so that you can go to what is called "sick call" to request a shaving profile. The profile isn't permanent, but if you know you are prone to breaking out again, then make sure you let the medic know so that you can come back to renew your shaving profile later on in training. Keep that profile on your ALWAYS. NOT in your locker! All the best!

  • By the way, seeing is believing and if your drill sergeant doesn't see a profile on hand, and really wants to teach a lesson for not keeping your profile on you, he/she can smoke you for not shaving even though you do in fact have a profile. Just FYI! Drill sergeants can be just that douchey about it! LOL

  • Hey David

I never knew that q-tips were that useful when it comes to cleaning your M-16 wow..you learn something new everyday. About the Spandex would you drill Sargent would allow you to wear the branded stuff(Under Armour) since is the official "team army" approved. or the Nike one? since we are in this topic i just found that the USMC has banned the use of that material because they can melt into the skin, something i found weird since both branches must have clothing that fire retardant

  • Thanks, good to know. Good luck in your Army career.

  • Hey David do they let you buy lotion when your in bct? I'm going to Ft. Leonard Wood in 11 days, it's pretty cold there and I have dry skin.

  • @kwuneko lol Yes you are allowed to have lotion so long as it's unscented lotion. I get extremely dry skin as well, so I understand your situation.

  • Thanks for the video. I leave for BCT in 3 days. I dont plan on buying that much until i go to the px. Thanks for giving me a little insight into what i should expect. WISH ME LUCK! HOOAH!

  • @71889kay I pray you have a easy time and learn a lot. Avoid the drama in the sleep bay during lights out. Respect and obey your students leadership no matter how apprehensive you feel towards them. Listen to your drill sergeants and never say "sorry" or "thank you" 'cause they don't care and will punish you for it. Just do what you're told, but ask questions when you don't understand with confidence or they will pick on you. Show drill sergeants fear and you become a target.
