This Diverse Organ sounds alright but to really give it a churchy sound you need a Hammond B-3 with Vibrato C-3 now that's a APOSTOLIC/PENTECOSTAL/PAW TYPE
One annoyance is when he plays great licks in his demonstration, then Sebastian says now show us the "basic" version and the musician's will develop it themselves from there. Wha?? That's why we bought the dvd. Show us the great licks. Some of us already know the basic version.
The song portion isn't much help. The techniques part is where intermediate ppl will learn the most. Key changes, progressions, preacher chords.
It's ironic that this is gospel music, and this brotha is "burnin'". Jazz/Blues/Gospel. Triplets separated at birth. Now I know another reason people get up and do the "holy ghost shuffle" in the aisle at church. I have to pay more attention to Gospel music.
Man im tellin you, this DVD is a must have. If you really want get a good foundation of Church Service playing, this DVD is for you. The chord changes in this DVD will bring tears to your eyes. Its just that sick. Plus he BREAKS EVERYTHING DOWN. The preaching chords section alone is worth the price u pay.
I have purchased a few of these Wheatworks DVD helps and although the musicians are just incredible, there is so much "talk" and not much lesson on most of these at $50 per each DVD. Being a great musician is one thing and being an exceptional teacher is quite something else. Sorry friends, my opinion is that there are better and more thorough lessons out there. If you just want to watch someone great and marvel at their abilities, this would be a great way to do that though.
Which ones do you have? The older ones with John Peters and Melvin Crispel, Didnt teach much, but you can learn a lot from the newer ones if you put the time in to practice, and not become overwhelmed by the amount of material.
nice
