If you was an Aussie I'd recommend witchetty grubs and roasted brown snake, but as you're a canuck how about pine needle tea or under bark. Pine monkey nuts are delicious also...and there's plenty of rats, mice, rabbits, fish, frogs, cats, dogs, lizards, birds, believe it, you'll eat anything in a survival situation if you're hungry enough! Lots of other good bush tucker all around mate, just a matter of being aware and looking for it ;)

I think you are right. If we are starving anything is gonna look good to eat. I heard snake was good eats and elephant trunk too. Meat is meat and it all contains energy.

You'll also need a means of making fire for cooking and warmth. A magnifying glass of flint set are invaluable, or just stock up on disposable cigarette lighters. Sorry, just thought I'd add to my earlier comment :)
