1,000 thank you's are not enough to thank you for posting this incredibly rare and wonderful footage. it's thrilling to see Pavel Klushantsev's work becoming available to the West. is there any way to buy a DVD or download a torrent? What about his other films?
actually Pavel Klushantsev was ABSOLUTELY unknown in the USSR. Even professionals didn't know a thin' about his works.
russians discovered Klushantsev only after Kubrick mentioned Klushantsev as his teacher. I've said all that because unfortunately Klushantsev's work not available to the "east" either. i've never seen any Klushantsev DVD in russia... shame.
Thanks! Where did you get this? Is it a transfer from videotape? Is there any way I can get a really high quality digital copy? I would love to grab some frames and also use various filters to try to improve the image quality
definitely not on TV. there was big problems in soviet moon program at that time. this film has been shown in few movie theaters and then quickly removed to not to frustrate soviet ppl. (sorry my english)
Klushantsev was quite a master with special effects back in his day. Having seen this (moon), and "Mapc" and the earlier film from 1957 (dont recall the name), have to say he was a great filmmaker.
So sad, the road not taken... back in the 20th century they still had a future... we don't.
