Having been trained by a sheriff's academy, I noticed the lack of Miranda rights as well. I recently saw an ad for an officer position in this unit and it requires a POST academy. These officers dont make the same as a police officer. I have been volunteering at an animal shelter for almost 2 years. I dont need to be a cop to recognize cruelty or dog fighting. Boswell is not doing anyone any good by being on the task force, needed to be transferred

Just another example of the progressives trying to turn us into a nanny state. WE have to do what THEY say or there is something wrong with us. THEY always know better what we need that we do ourselves. This guy needed help from the county...I've been in his position and I called the humane society and told them if they didn't get me the name of a vet that performed sterlization at a reasonable amount, that I would start dropping them off on them. Got a name real fast that way & she is GR8!

Animal Control Nazis: far more interested in headlines than helping animals. How can a bunch of jack-booted morons storming around a house grabbing cats and choking them with rabies poles be considered humane? Humane traps are not humane. Witness the terror and panic of a cat in one of these traps. Ever watched Animal Cops? Virtually all cat seizures end with the statement "Sadly, the cats were found to have respiratory problems and were executed, oops, I meant KILLED.

Thing is, people do that all the time. Dump off their cats to become some other poor person's problem. I have a uncle who works a dairy farm, and at one time he had nearly a hundred cats from where people were just dumping them off. He already had two barn cats, and didn't need any more. People really need to learn to take responsibility.

I think this guy is innocent though, most horders are all "I never did anything wrong! I only helped those cats!" Then have all kinds of dead cats.

I think what the LAPD did, is totally ludacris. How can you convict someone who spends their hard earned money taking care of these cats, who can't care for themselves or have families who care for them. If they arrest him, then they should arrest all those people who adopt children and spend their hard earned money on children who can't care for themselves either. That is just the same. When you have someone who feeds, waters, & provides litter boxes, how can you call that "Animal Cruelty"?

The absurdity is beyond belief. They say Mr. Mason has a mental health problem? I beg to differ. The man has been giving food and water to animals, and getting them neutered to help control the population and alleviate future problems. What is more absurd is the fact that the Department is for trap neuter return of feral cats to cat colonies. That is what Mason was doing. Catnippers, a TNR group from Best Friends actually dumped seven of the cats on Mason's property. The Department supports Catnippers. Why didn't the Dept bust Catnippers? and all the other TNR groups? They're doing the same thing Mason was doing.

This is exactly why it will be impossible to get animal cruelty laws with any teeth on the books. These cops have no clue. Questionable situations should be handled by the local Humane Society, & those investigators should be given full police powers. THEY are the pros in all of this. Hoarding is a mental illness. The current ACTF is made up of police officers and animal control officers. There are no humane officers. Humane officers receive police academy training and specific training on hoarders, dog fighters, abusers. Humane Officers have full police powers. SPCAs are made up of Humane Officers. The LA ACTF should have their people become Humane Officers to limit these mistakes. Mason never received any counseling or help from the City. Fortunately rescuers have been helping him.

If you think that is bad, look at the situation at Tiger Ranch in PA....Animal Planet cameramen were onsite for that raid too although the PSPCA director, Howard Nelson claims they had NO access to the property...ON April 28 and 29, Linda Bruno will go to a hearing facing over 500 counts of animal cruelty for running a shelter that took in unwanted cats. It ran successfully with NO violations for over 14 years....Suddenly she is a criminal because some cats got sick, got old and were dying?

the took one woman's dog from at gun point with no reason other than it look ill it was getting vets care as it was victim the bad dog food that came out. SPCA and some Animal right group took the dog and it has not been seen again. Note on this video they kill this guys sister's cat as ALL the Cats were put down. very sad

1 employee told me herself she was there because it was a "city job" which explained her lack of basic animal knowledge. Had I not ever volunteered there I would have never known how horrible things are. Seems like they purposely hire people who are ignorant of animal issues so things won't be shaken up. So unjust! This man went to LAAS for help which they denied him. They should get to the root of the problem and charge/fine the neighbors for having unaltered pets all over the place. This is absurd! This man is not a criminal. Why is he in handcuffs? He obviously has nothing to hide, and he seems to maintain a clean household for his cats. If folks are dumping their cats at this man's home, why is he being arrested? Five cats in his home--that's not anything! So they're lumping him in with "blood sports" and "bestiality". I've seen and complained about situations way worse than this and got shit for a response They must not have anything better to do.
