At 2:45 you can see her heart start to break. To think that I once did the same thing to some poor girl fills me with, what I can only assume is, the same pain and sadness I had caused her.
This episode always gets to me. I was never mean to someone like this, but at that age everyone cares about what others think of them. When you get older, you realize how irrelevant thinking how "uncool" it was to talk to someone. You realize people go about their childhoods made fun of and such all because people can't think for themselves, they do the mean things to people at that age because of the influence of others. Sad episode, but good at the same time. Love the Wonder Years...
i actually had to dance with a girl just like margaret in 7th grade gym class... the weird girls are indeed sweethearts. the ending to this episode is great too with the yearbook. people like margaret become relatively successful, more than half the kids end up dead, in jail, or on drugs
there's an licensing issue with the music, that's why it's not out on dvd. the company could release the shows without the music but the songs are integral to the show.
This girl was on a few episodes of Roseanne in the early 90's. She played a girl named Dana that was a friend of Becky's. I thought she was Becky's best looking friend. They got drunk in one episode. Her real name is Lindsay Fisher.
Brilliant episode. Everyone has been a Margaret in their life, and everyone has treated someone like this in their life. She is a seriously cool person in the truest sense of the word.
i did something like this to a girl once when i was 12 ... im 28 now .. to this day i think about her ... i remember how bad i made her feel .... to this day i feel guilty ...
anyone know what she looks like today? if she is still alive that is. im not meaning to sound insensitive. im just not sure. any info would be much appreciated.thanks
This was one of the best episodes, because it's a situation we've all been in. All of us at some point was like Kevin and were prejudice towards other and all of us have been looked down upon by others, like Margaret.
I feel bad because I was 13 when I first saw this episode and also avoided girls like Margaret. Now that I'm older and wiser, and look back at the course of this show, Margaret was probably the single coolest girl Kevin met, along with Linda from 'Don't You Know Anything About Women?'.
That was messed up what Kevin said to Margaret, I would have dated her and wouldn't care what people thought. I love goofy/weird girls because their so unique and interesting, as you can see Kevin did so when talking to her in his kitchen. But unfortunately at that age we are stupid, superficial, immature, and cared what others thought was uncool. It is not until we are older and wiser that we think about the mistakes we've made when we were young.
I might care about what people think of me on some level but when I want to be friends with someone, I'm friends with them. Look at all the people you miss out on getting to know when you worry what people might think. lol It's just not worth it to worry. lol :)
at the end of part 2, funny how kev justs pushed her ass out of the door, alright bye!. and when he tells her to leave with the cup and get some water from the hose down the st. lol so funny
that's not quite right, in 7th grade everyone thinks you are who everyone says you are. however, you are still you, and the less you care about what others think the better off you will be in life
7th grade was hard, you'd spend so much time thinking about what others thought of you, you'd miss out alot actually thinking about who you are, and what your about.
It's true what he said about 7th graders saying you are whoever they say you are.I remember when i was in the 7th grade, it was one of the worst times in my life. Thank god it's just a memory now.
I always thought it was funny, because a few years later, I became and AVID 'friend to bats,' and am to this day (and I recently became a friend to tarantulas)
Fred Savage was a beast with his facial expressions. He was so talented when he was young.

This episode should be required viewing in every middle and high school in America: It captures the impact of bullying more than any other.
