  • heard this on my favourite episode of criminal minds

fell in love with the song instantly

  • I love the lyrics ... :)

  • I shed so many tears!

  • I think I can safely say that Jonsi is by far the best male vocalist I have ever had the pleasure of hearing.

  • can someone tell me at least what the title means? it seems like such a beautiful word

  • @jameslee246 it's a neologism... probably it means "pitch black" as in "pitchblack darkness"

  • Wonderous, magical, perfection.... :o)

  • Perfection note by note... this is what happiness and peace most sound like!!!!

  • So grateful I'm not deaf,

  • real steel trailer 2 music :)

  • I want to fly on the back of dragon... while listening to this being played by the world...

  • @thatsmellsnice323 The way I know you'Re a 90s kid is that your comment was influenced by never ending story :)

  • Sadness ought to make us thankful. There would be no Jonsi if there were no sadness.

  • the intro reminds me of diamond eyes by shinedown

  • sounds like heaven is roaring...

  • @marcusklaas don't listen to it then

  • ah! this song was used in the preview for Real Steel in theaters! :D Go Jonsi !

  • @shinogaara I knew it.

  • <3 !

  • this songs feels like a storm to me. the type of storm you can stand out in the rain and not worry about stuff. this may sound stupid but it's a really eye opening piece. it just makes me fell calm.

  • Maybe it's just me. But with this song I always picture Africa and I see all the animals by the waterhole and all of a sudden a rainstorm comes and all of them hide until the end, they come back out and look around - then the song is over :p

I love Jonsi so excited I found out bout him

  • Uncredible.

  • Favorite on the album other than Tornado. I LOVE Jonsi with a burning passion.

  • Booom !! this was uploaded on my Birthday :)

  • What...just happened...? Unreal.

  • Virkilega gott lag, þetta og hengilás eru í miklu uppáhaldi

  • @Squinchyy Whoa! You speak like Jonsi !

  • @myforeverbliss Yeah might be because we are both from Iceland ;)

  • @Squinchyy Awesome, Do you have a cool accicent too???

  • @myforeverbliss Indeed i do :)

  • @Squinchyy Your gonna have to teach me that sometime buddy! There's few times when a person gets to meet someone from Iceland. ^.^

  • i love the build up!

  • well, that was flippin awesome.

  • Honestly, the best music I have heard in my entire life. Period.

  • Life = Music

  • i love his falsetto its ckear as a crisp, awesome prodicing i must say, to capture that voice so well is no small feat

  • The change into falsetto at 2:01 is what takes this to another level. All singers/bands: learn from a master.

  • This is most beautiful song I have ever heard

  • I really like this song, my favourite on the album. A fine addition to Jonsi's already impressive catalogue of work. If I made music, Jonsi and me would sound very similar because I believe great music sounds like this!

  • 1:47 <3

  • I just saw jonsi in concert.. I haven't been this happy in years.

  • @Kapalaran quit writing this on every single song

  • Kolniður svart, hvergi bjart = Pitch black, nothing bright.

    Amazing lyrics!

  • @McIcecreamers

What language is this? it sounds very beautiful =]

  • @anitabog Icelandic. Jonsi makes it sound so graceful and lovely :)

  • @anitabog Icelandic

  • @McIcecreamers

    That's not entirely true.

  • @subonad What do you mean?

  • @McIcecreamers

I think Kolniður is a name derived from kolniðar most usually used in the sense "kolniðar myrkur" or "pitch black darkness". If this meant simply pitch black the name of the song would be Kolniðar not Kolniður, which clearly gives you the feeling that this is a name.

  • @subonad That, in fact, is not entirely true. Because he says "Kolniður svart, hvergi bjart". In this sentence he is talking about pitch black darkness because there isn't anything bright. So in that sense the name of the song is Pitch Black.

Which shows us that Kolniður -a means pich black. (Not directly of course)

And it's not "kolniðar myrkur" it's "kolniðamyrkur". In my opinion Jónsi was just twisting the word into something artistic or whatever :)

  • @McIcecreamers

Það að maður skrifar kolniðamyrkur í einu orði skiptir engu hér.

Hann byrjar textann á að tala um glóandi augu, hver á þessi augu?

Allavega ég nenni ekki að þræta um eitthvað svona ómerkilegt þetta er bara túlkun á textanum það eru engar staðreyndir í þeim málum. En ég held að það sé nokkuð ljóst að Kolniður eru einhvers konar persónugerving á kolniða-. T.d. segir hann "Kolniður gref" þetta hljómar eins og kolniður sé að gera eitthvað.

  • love this song!

  • It sounds like he's heading into a war...like one that counts...

  • Man. I love Sigur ros and I really want to like Jonsi's album but I can't because It's fast and loud. I guess I'm just used to the Sigur Ros way. Slow and quiet and then it becomes loud and fast

  • Jonsi Ég elska þig svo mikið. tónlist er svo öflugt. Elska þig. tónlist er mjög líkur til að vinna Hans Zimmer's.

  • @TeresaSunn Talarðu Íslensku?

  • jonsi is a true musician. provokes endless emotions.

sigur ros is fucking great too! <3

  • there is nothing more amazing. there is nothing more special.

  • i was about to cry

  • Comment removed

  • Jonsi's music always makes me cry, it is so beautiful...

  • The power and majestic beauty of Jonsi's music is that he is able to express the ineffable, the sublime, the transcendant to such an overwhelmingly deep and inspired level that he leaves people feeling so profoundly moved, transformed and mesmerised. I was fortunate and blessed to have seen Jonsi perform in Berkeley last Friday and was utterly moved to tears. It was easily one of the best performances in my entire life <3

  • @jadeowlchemist

i cannot describe this music in words, yet you were able to capture my exact feelings in a couple of sentences. kudos, my friend :)

  • @nabil350

Thanks for your kind words. I'm glad that I could help express your feelings about Jonsi's music by expressing my own feelings about it. It's wonderful to know someone else also shares the same feelings about it as me :-)

  • @Bl4ckice117

What does that have to do with his music?o_O

  • @Bl4ckice117 Contrary to popular belief, atheists also enjoy music.

  • @zoso820 In support of popular belief, atheists are still assholes in general.

    _____

And damn do I love Jonsi.

  • @AnthonyDavis217 I make an obvious statement that no one could possibly disagree with, so you call me an asshole. You do realize the irony in this?

  • @AnthonyDavis217

    And religious people aren't?

Jonsi=nothing to do with religion anyways.

  • @Bl4ckice117 no u dont

  • Brilliant song.

  • Dear Jonsi,

Do I understand what you're saying? No. Does this affect how I feel about your music? Hell no. Do I think you're effing amazing? You betcha. <3

  • @NascarTres 10/10 lame points for you, kind sir

  • @lucadepu Ok...1) why do I get lame points for liking this song a lot? and 2) I'm a chick. :)

  • @NascarTres 100 retard points to you for replying, great job

  • @lucadepu Wait wait wait, so you're allowed to make some snooty comment that doesn't make any sense but I'M not allowed to reply, honestly asking why you didn't like my comment? Oh, now THAT makes sense. All I was asking was why I'm getting "lame points" for like his music.
