Im sad this left Kentucky Kingdom, it looks out of place in Great Adventure and the colours, name and landscaping here were much better than at Great Adventure
Finally! I've been waiting for them to put in a stand-up B&M roller coaster to Great Adventure for over 10 years now, I'm so damned pumped, I've ridden every kind of B&M coaster before except their stand-up ones. R.I.P. Great American Scream Machine. Even though you gave me a headache every time, you will be missed.
i'll miss gasm at GAdv, but am looking forward to Chang coming here. it is gonna look strange seeing GL nearby another green coaster: Kinda ka though. The 'batman' side of the park could've used this coaster more imo.
@ferrett6 it also has a taller drop that is larger in proportion to the loops and other elements which means it travels through its elements much faster making it more forceful. On top of that it also doesn't have a brake on its drop. I've ridden both, Chang is a much better ride.
Oh no! Say it ain't so! I thought we at SFGA was getting it?! What the hell happened?! I always knew {even before they announced it} that they were gonna re-theme it after Green Lantern because of the new movie coming out next summer, but I thought sure we in the Chicagoland area (That's Six Flags Great America) was gonna get it.... O well. Now we can focus on getting something even better like a 4D coaster or something more newage futuristic.
@slhone Lol six flags will probably almost never get a new coaster again or at least for right now. The company i still recovering from almost going bankrupt. Mostly every new coaster i from another park. Great adventure got the indoor dark knight which in My opinion was by far the biggest waste of money
this ride looks fun... really smooth... like medusa/bizarro. but its definitely one of those rides that you'll ride ONCE at the park and then ride El Toro and Nitro like 70 other times. needs more thrill. i'll ride it though, halllllaaaa.

@McLovin1188 this is nothing like bizzaro the drop is completely different (and taller) theres a tilted incline loop before the mid breaks theres no zero g roll or cobra roll theres the little turn thing thats right before the incline loop the drop after the mid breaks doesnt turn down the corkscrews are completely different theres no high speed turn right after the second drop and the block breaks are arranged differently...o and did i mention that you stand up in it?

GASM was one of my favorite rides at great adventure. Everyone complained about getting hurt on it but i have never been hurt on that ride. I wish they could have kept it up and put a new one where rolling thunder is that ride does hurt. At least chang is a stand up coaster they don't have one of those at great adventure.

The park is doing this instead of building a new roller coaster which they were planning to do to everypark to celeberate 50 years of six flags but ever sence they went in bankrupt they dont have enough money to do it.So they are bringing out an old roller coaster they had in storage

my cousin (who works at six flags great america) confirmed with me that 1. they have chang in storage and 2. the plan is to put chang up where the former space shuttle america used to sit

Great American Scream Machine will be closing on July 18th according to the park's facebook page (a reliable source). It is expected to replaced with a major attraction for 2011. Which could or could not be Chang, only time will tell.
To avoid an uproar of responses Wikipedia, Screamscape, nor any fan-site like Coaster Fusion is a reliable source. Also RollerCoasterDataBase has the coaster's location as Six Flags Great America. Trolls=Pwned
Do you guys realize Six Flags have not confirmed it going to Great Adventure? Also the rumored closing date for Great American Scream Machine was July 1st. It's July 5th and the coaster is up and running with no signs of removal. For a ride of that history they would probably announce when it is going to close so people can ride it for a last time. Also Great America has already gone to their village board for the ride and requested hight variances for the dimensions of Chang. Rumor=False.
i spent so much time at SFKK as a kid. this was the first "big roller coaster" i ever rode. now the park is closed down and there's a giant empty spot next to the highway where this used to be. :-(

I went up in the sky trek tower at great america yesterday and looked at the space they cleared for this, it is WAY to small. i think that they will take room from the parking lot being that it is friggin giant.
This roller coaster is being stored at Maxim Crane Works in Wilder KY. It is in the process of being sandblasted then repainted. I don't know what or where it'll go from here. I just know that b/c I work at Maxim...

Iron Wolf won't be taken down, it's a great ride with a great layout! They are going to replace the rough trains with Chang's old trains. So it will be IMPROVED.

@AsItNeverSeems It is true that Thymant (the guy who said they won't be putting up Chang in SFGAm) name-called all of us for the wrong thing. You must be very excited about this ride. Iron Wolf will be improved, too. Iron Wolf's old trains will be taken out and Chang's old trains will be repainted and run on Iron Wolf. Chang will get new trains for its life here at SFGAm.
P.S. I might be at SFGAm on the opening day, are you? I don't live near SFGAm. I live 4-5 hrs. from there, I live in Missouri. I visit SFGAm every year. My favorite ride now in SFGAm is Raging Bull, but I sure hope the new stand-up ride will be better than Raging Bull!

I think that means that because it was bolted down it could have been a "permanent fixture" and thus removing the ride was against some sort of contract with the land owners. I read a thread on the "Theme Park Review" forum discussing the issue.

@igetkinki just because a coaster is in storage at the park, doesn't mean it's being built there. when six flags astroworld closed down, all of their major coasters were put into storage at different six flags parks. none of them were built, proving my point.

@LLamaSquadHQClub because wooden coasters are completely different. the rides they give vary greatly depending on the designer. in other words, two wooden coasters with the same layout could give completely different rides.

Great American Scream Machine will be closing on July 18th according to the park's facebook page (a reliable source). It is expected to replaced with a major attraction for 2011. Which could or could not be Chang, only time will tell.

Do you guys realize Six Flags have not confirmed it going to Great Adventure? Also the rumored closing date for Great American Scream Machine was July 1st. It's July 5th and the coaster is up and running with no signs of removal. For a ride of that history they would probably announce when it is going to close so people can ride it for a last time. Also Great America has already gone to their village board for the ride and requested hight variances for the dimensions of Chang. Rumor=False.

i spent so much time at SFKK as a kid. this was the first "big roller coaster" i ever rode. now the park is closed down and there's a giant empty spot next to the highway where this used to be. :-(

@AsItNeverSeems Right now it is just a rumor, but July 1st is the day they are supposedly going to tear down GASM, so if anything happens that day it will be confirmed. I know they have such good rides and all of ours are just so-so.

I went up in the sky trek tower at great america yesterday and looked at the space they cleared for this, it is WAY to small. i think that they will take room from the parking lot being that it is friggin giant.

This roller coaster is being stored at Maxim Crane Works in Wilder KY. It is in the process of being sandblasted then repainted. I don't know what or where it'll go from here. I just know that b/c I work at Maxim...

Iron Wolf won't be taken down, it's a great ride with a great layout! They are going to replace the rough trains with Chang's old trains. So it will be IMPROVED.

@AsItNeverSeems It is true that Thymant (the guy who said they won't be putting up Chang in SFGAm) name-called all of us for the wrong thing. You must be very excited about this ride. Iron Wolf will be improved, too. Iron Wolf's old trains will be taken out and Chang's old trains will be repainted and run on Iron Wolf. Chang will get new trains for its life here at SFGAm.

P.S. I might be at SFGAm on the opening day, are you? I don't live near SFGAm. I live 4-5 hrs. from there, I live in Missouri. I visit SFGAm every year. My favorite ride now in SFGAm is Raging Bull, but I sure hope the new stand-up ride will be better than Raging Bull!

Wow, I feel sorry for the people in Louisville, you had your main attraction taken out for a waterpark expansion, but ended up having the whole park shut down. I think that means that because it was bolted down it could have been a "permanent fixture" and thus removing the ride was against some sort of contract with the land owners. I read a thread on the "Theme Park Review" forum discussing the issue.
