Washington Crossing Historic Park has a page on their website that discusses Leutze's painting that was done in 1851. It is a beautiful and heroic painting, but there are a lot of historic inaccuracies. It is very interesting. Kunstler determined that Washington would not have crossed in a Durham boat, but in a ferry because he would not have travelled across without his horse.
This guy is trying to rewrite history, and the original painting was done 75 years after the crossing... Think about it... The original painter would have more knowledge of the real incident, plus, there was a mini iceage going on which would have created ice as shown in the original painting... A ferry or barge as this guy is trying to change it to would not have been available because of the war, and it would have left the British subject to night attacks, and was some of the first things gone
