this and radio kept me alive for a few years. it almost happened. and i dont' think she would have noticed. she's doing good. she's happy. that's all that matters. lets' just go with with the music. it's all good.
@PunkxCherub It's hard to recommend some softer HWM songs because this is probably their most laidback song, but I'll try. Minno, At the End of a Gun, Things on a Dashboard, Arms Can't Stretch, are some good softer songs. I'd also recommend checking out the song Cold Night in Virginia by The Blacktop Cadence, which had Chris and George from HWM in it. They're much more laidback than Hot Water Music. But really, you can't go wrong with any Hot Water Music songs.
@crassisdead thanks for the suggestions. They're really good. It's kind of wierd actually, I got into chuck ragan's solo stuff before i really heard of HWM and most of what i heard and really liked was a bit more mellow. I'm not really a true fan though, because i like his voice a lot better when it's just more chill
i think this is their most hopeful song, not most depressing. this song is about getting through the worst times and it encourages each of us to see through the toughest times. this song has hit home with me and helped me out with a lot of shit as i know it has many other people. we're not the only ones that feel this way and we all have what it takes to make it home.
Funny, I always considered this an uplifting song. "We can take the hits and grow tougher collect ourselves to live longer and find there is no need to be afraid." Shit happens, you learn to grow throw it and make tomorrow better. At least that's the way I've always seen it :)
@keymaster2 every band has that one record that really hits home with them. i think for HWM No Division is deffinately that record. most of the songs are somewhat depressing but they do all have a positive message... We all have what it takes to make it home.....
i know just how he feels. shithouse. but this song gives me hope, even after all these years.

@PunkxCherub I was always a fan of the song "Manual." I had a live version of it years ago, but have not been able to find it again.

this has got to be a very depressing record. Like a less punk Rites of Spring record.

This is their most depressing song on this album. Some of their most poppiest songs are on the album though.

It sounds depressing at first but it does get uplifting after that. It's definitely one of my favorite songs by Hot Water Music.
