Police always need to be on their guard, drawing a weapon takes less then a second, so every movement of the suspect is considered dangerous and the officers reacts.

I am a law enforcement officer...I know the job is not always pretty, but I do have a question. Where are these officer's badges? Is that not a police officer's symbol of authority? the defense attorney could argue that my his client didn't know they were police officers. It's crazy, but it's those types of details that get these criminals off the hook.
@jacksongino It's not mandatory in Canada for police officers to display their badges. Most PD's don't even issue badges that are worn on the shirt like in the US. Officers do have badges and warrant cards (Dept. ID) that they carry in a wallet, and some departments issue cap badges to be worn on the forage (peaked) cap. Officers do have to display something to id themselves individually (either surname or badge # on uniform) when in uniform.
@jacksongino As for attorneys arguing that the suspect didn't know they were police officers, they can try and argue that they didn't realize the fully uniformed officer, with shoulder flashes say "Police", getting out of a police car with the word "Police" clearly displayed on the sides was a police officer, but I doubt it would get very far in the courts. Lawyers get their knuckles wrapped for playing those games up here. Judges don't abide that shit (in general).

As for the initial headstomp, the suspect did not listen to the officers orders, at this point the officer is allowed to use force. The second head stomp was due to the suspect AGAIN refusing to listen to the officer.

I am a law enforcement officer...I know the job is not always pretty, but I do have a question. Where are these officer's badges? Is that not a police officer's symbol of authority? the defense attorney could argue that my his client didn't know they were police officers. It's crazy, but it's those types of details that get these criminals off the hook.

@jacksongino It's not mandatory in Canada for police officers to display their badges. Most PD's don't even issue badges that are worn on the shirt like in the US. Officers do have badges and warrant cards (Dept. ID) that they carry in a wallet, and some departments issue cap badges to be worn on the forage (peaked) cap. Officers do have to display something to id themselves individually (either surname or badge # on uniform) when in uniform.

@jacksongino As for attorneys arguing that the suspect didn't know they were police officers, they can try and argue that they didn't realize the fully uniformed officer, with shoulder flashes say "Police", getting out of a police car with the word "Police" clearly displayed on the sides was a police officer, but I doubt it would get very far in the courts. Lawyers get their knuckles wrapped for playing those games up here. Judges don't abide that shit (in general).

Abby police officer female is judy dizzy. Half of the department hates her. She has gone on stress leave several times over the years, and has switched positions within the department just to stay on board. It's sad that we cannot find better police in abby to do the job properly.

I don't know why people insist on defending the police about their actions in this video. When the other cop walked over the dudes legs and dropped his knee in the back that was uncalled for. The kicking and head stomping was too. There is a way to retain a suspect and arrest him without abuse. The police force is not there to punish, the court system that does that. Their job is to apprehend.

If the police officer had been properly listened to, the man would never have been kicked. Did anything happen to the (basically) still guy? No. That is because he was still, when a police officer was arresting him. The one that was kicked may have been a potential escapee, if he had not remained still.

@bushin64 Oh please. I don't think the police should handle these guys softly or anything, but some of the things these guys did were totally unnecessary. Take walking on the back of the guy's legs at 0:49 for example, what good did that do? It's certainly not standard procedure to LITERALLY walk over your suspects to get to another suspect.
Policemen (and women) are supposed to be better than these people. By acting this way, these policemen have shown they aren't a whole LOT better...

If anyone would do some research these accused were apparently seen doing a drug deal near a high school and all were taken out of a moving vehicle, which you see rolling backwards in the beginning of the video. Both officers were out of line. There is no reason to kick or stand on someones head because they move with their hands still visible. Both officers were/are under Police Act investigation because of this video. Anyone says this is right. Give your head a shake, could be you next time.

I'm all for police accountability, and the grey-haired officer may have been out of order when he pushed the guys head down the first time, but on the other hand if a cop tells you not to move and you REPEATEDLY disobey him (like 10 times) then I quickly lose all sympathy. I mean it was annoying me the amount that was moving around and my personal safety was in no question... I'm def on the officers side on this one.

From the outside looking in, this does look like these officers did some things that were "not so nice" . What the general public fails to realize is that police work is not a pretty business, it's not always like you see on television. Police officers every single day go out and risk their lives so that we have a better place to live! I would like to see some of the people who criticize go out and do an officer's job, for just one night before you cast the stone so harshly.

Wow....I've always loved cops and still do but this is crazy! What is wrong with this guy...too much coffee ;)... Even though I still love cops since my dad is one and I know so many that are nice...I can realize that this is a rising problem. But the reality of it is, not all cops are the people who do this. In fact its only a small % of police officer's that act like this. Most are good, hard working, and fair officer's. But in my opinion one is too many..

As for the initial headstomp, the suspect did not listen to the officers orders, at this point the officer is allowed to use force. The second head stomp was due to the suspect AGAIN refusing to listen to the officer.

But, I also know that this is the wrong course of action to take, not only could I be punished myself, I could also hinder any future punishment the legal system may enact, I am sure a longer incarceration would be worse for than a beating.
