Love Sylvia Miles- a true original, & one of our greatest unsung character actresses--especially in Farewell, My Lovely, Who Killed Mary What's-er Name, & The Sentinel-she's truly creepy in the latter!!
Yes, astonishing isn't it? Cactus Flower was IMHO a silly comedy, amusing yes, but not something I would watch more than once. Midnight Cowboy is (IMHO) one of the greatest films ever made and the character of Cass is perfectly played by Sylvia - I have probably watched Midnight Cowboy at least a dozen times (including three times in movie theaters in 1969 the year of its premiere) WHY? Because the story and the characters played by Hoffman and Voight are just magnificent.

Unfortunately, Nico has been dead for 20 years. She was declared dead of a cerebral hemorrhage at 8 P.M. on July 18,1988 on the Spanish Island of Ibiza. At the time of her death her occupation was sporadic singer and full time heroin addict. Sadly her later years revolved around heroin. RIP Nico.
Hmm the cause of death is correct. But Nico at that point was trying to get out of heroin. She was changing her lifestyle, eating healthy and doing methadon
The great thing about Sylvia is that she keeps plugging away for that Oscar. Anybody remeber her work in "Farewell, My Lovely," "Crossing Delancey" or "Wall Street"? She's ALWAYS excellent!
Not bad for 84 years old. I've run into her at least 3 times in NYC (all within the past couple years). She likes her bars, and enjoys the city to the max.
I took her to lunch after interviewing her in 2002 for "Superstar in a Housedress" and 4 times during our meal people came to the table to meet her/get an autograph/fawn over her, the wait staff gave us a bottle of wine... she loved all the attention!
This clip is totally fun and entertaining! Bravo to Sylvia for never saying anything to Andy, and I'm thrilled Craig was able to dicument this funny story! Cityboy114
Hilarious! I adore Sylvia Miles - she deserved an Academy Award for Cass in "Midnight Cowboy", how stupid they gave it to Goldie Hawn in "Cactus Flower". Sylvia you'll get that Oscar yet!
Was she born in '22 or '32?

I've seen her in a porno with Joe Dallesandro, and she was an Oscar nominee,WEIRD

LOL shialabeouf17, what you call "porno" is probably the classic undeground film, Paul Morrisey's "Heat". Do some research!

Goldie Hawn won the 1969 Best Supporting Actress Oscar for "Cactus Flower" over Miles' performance in "Midnight Cowboy". What!!

No offense, but if she was one of the beautiful people, I can just imagine who the ugly people were.

Yes, I know. I was referring to the story that Sylvia is telling in this video, about the Venice film festival. I knew Nico well.

Indeed, one of the greatest character actresses of our time. Under-appreciated. Oscar-worthy. A national treasure!

I totally agree - I will never ever forget Sylvia as Cass, but have forgotten Goldie Hawn already even though I saw both films.
