is it selfish for a muslim girl to break an engagement(khatooba) just because she doesnt feel no attraction by her fiance?i've been engaged for almost two years and i feel like i've been forcing myself to feel attracted by him. from the very first moment i saw his photo, i automatically said to myself "oh god, this isnt the kind of husband i was looking for"but i was willing to let this engagement continue bcuz he is a person with a really good background which now a days its hard to find in men

I love this brother. And I am glad he answered this question and mentioned about modesty amd chastity.Some men abhor a woman who isnt chaste or has been unchaste before. It is mustahabb to marry fertile virgin women anyway so of course men naturally dislike that the woman they love was with anyone else. Muslims gave great ghayrah over their women. And the islamic law closes the door to evil walhamdulilah!

@halfhausaman Maybe you should ask a scholar etc? Plus, perhaps they need to seek repentance if they made any mistakes. They also need patience and perseverance…and I have heard fasting helps as well. Whatever is meant to be, will be inshaAllah. Allah knows best. As-salaamu 'alaikum.

What's the point with getting engaged if engagement does not allow the future couple to do anything more than before the engagement?

As He said, engagement have to be quick and fast , the point of engagement is inform everyone that the two have made a promise to get married, so that other hopeful will look elsewhere ,also it is HARAM to interfere with an engagement, People dont get married immediately because of finishing studies, waiting for the right date where all family members & friends could attend or recover from certain illnesses , In Islam patience is 1/2 of faith, so when you're engaged, be patient
