  • to get a great metal tone on this amp, just turn everything up on the amp and use a treble booster. I get a fantastic SOAD sound using my les paul through the ad30!! sounds much better than the metal muff thats for sure..

  • For anyone wondering what this amplifier sounds like recorded in a professional studio, head over to youtube [dot] com / decaartaofficial and listen to the songs we have uploaded, all the guitar tones were recorded via my Orange AD30 with my Metal Muff.

  • @devinsetsfire63 It's funny because I saved up for this amp off of my own back.

As I stated in the description, this isn't a showcase of my playing ability, just showing the kind of tone you can get from the amp.

Anyway, since when did amps have a "Skill requirement" for one to use them?

  • @Moustachio101 Nicely put. You play well, man. Better than me. I just bought a Vox AC30 and by some standards I'm a rubbish guitarist. =P

    Keep it up dude!

  • @Moustachio101 There is nothing wrong with your playing at all. Very tight and solid, and tasteful. Hes just really jealous his mommy and daddy won't buy it for him. Everything I own, amps guitars, basses and repairs; I paid for with my job. Im only 19; its not even that hard to save up for a decent setup. Sick sounding amp though, they should put this video for advertisement on Orange's website.

    Cheers

  • @FrenchBeefCDN Thanks a lot buddy, much appreciated!

Yeah, some people don't seem to understand that it takes years to acquire all this equipment, just because they can't save up the money to get it the assume that "Mommy and Daddy" bought it.

I'm hoping to have enough money for an interface and a half decent microphone fairly soon, then I can upload some high quality videos of my proper playing, maybe then Orange would take some interest ;) Haha, hell I can only hope.

  • @devinsetsfire63 Yeah, man not being funny, but this is kind of a douchbag comment. I'm 100% against rich kids having better equipment than people who deserve it, but to say someone isn't a good player because they're not shredding is ignorant. His rhythmic and picking skills are awesome. Great rhythm guitarist if I do say so myself.

  • @scarey2k7 Seriously who gives a shit, people who good at guitar, passionate, and creative are gonna be the one's making good music, it doesn't mean jack shit whether youve got rich parents who cannot afford nice things or not.

  • @devinsetsfire63

Atleast he's not playing the metalcore (shit) single string riffs =)

  • Comment removed

  • @devinsetsfire63 lol you got served.

  • @devinsetsfire63 1.If you can buy an amp,you can play the amp (If you know how to plug one in that is) 2.You have no way of proving his parents have high income of any sort 3.You shouldn't hate on people playing guitar this video is to show off the amplifier, which is why it is a video about showcasing an amp. Not a cover of a song 4.His playing is not that bad.

  • @devinsetsfire63

I viewed your comment just to give it a shit vote after reading. Now that's a shame.

  • man the first part sounds like vodka by korpiklaani !!!!!!

  • i like

  • i'm just wondering but why would you use a metal muff for a distortion when the gain on those orange amps is monsterishly epic and you can just boost it a bit using either a digitech bad monkey for a cheap solution or just a find a good one in a Maxon od808

also you might wanna look into getting a Sennheiser e609 or e906 mic to record the stuff you put on here as it sounds a lot better than that cameramic ^^

  • @SmellvinoStitch I tried loads of pedals through this amp, using them just as boosters to give it a bit more bite, and this one was the one that just stood out to me. It's just the one I work best with.

With it's 3-band EQ it's a bit more versatile than some other pedals, too.

And yeah, you're totally right about the microphone situation, I am going to buy a half decent interface with a nice preamp and some decent mics... When I have the money, haha!

  • @SmellvinoStitch Just my OP of course but the Metal Muff is giving Moustachio101 an excellent tone and great crunch. And I don't get that from my Bad Monkey. (but that ain't what I use it for)

And, I do believe that the muff will give him that crunch at lower volumes so the band doesn't have to blend around the optimum amp volume for amp crunch, especially if the room is too small for the amp to use the best crunch volume.

It's the best Orange crunch so far.

  • hey man nice video :).. i was wondering what your settings are on the pedal and your eq settings on your amp.. i have the same pedal and a tube amp, but i am having trouble getting a good sound. your sound is perfect :)

  • @alex2616794 Hey man,

I can't really remember what the setting were when I took this video, but the settings I normally use now are on the pedal I have the volume at about 3 o'clock, I don't use the top boost, treble and mid are both at about 2 o'clock, the bass is at about 3 o'clock and the gain is nearly off.

I have my amp on whatever volume (Normally low at home), treb mid and bass are all at about 2 o'clock and the gain is at about 12 o'clock.

    Hope that helps, :)

  • @alex2616794 Also, if your amp has a clean and dirty channel select, put it on the dirty channel.

  • 1- you are really good at playing

2- IT SOUNDS GREAT the metal muff+ orange amp

3- you are very lucky ù.ù

  • @Cthulhuized

    Thanks buddy :)

  • Hmm...just realized you can hear the strings over the amp. How loud was this? I'm really considering this head right now.

  • @666lucky13 This was probably only on volume 2,

If you're looking for volume, this thing has tonnes of it.

It may only be 30 watts, but through 4 12" speakers it's loud enough to compete with 100 watt half stacks, as I do every time I play a gig,

  • @Moustachio101 Hmm, sounds good for sure. Thanks man.

  • I am going into a studio to record with my band later this month, so I shall post up some clips of how this exact rig sounds recorded professionally with about 250'000 bucks worth of equipment.

  • @Moustachio101 I'd like to hear that! I'm gonna hold you to it :)

  • @feo130 Tracks should hopefully be ready by about February, so keep an eye out for it ;)

  • that would be sweet dude! I have the AD15 and the metal muff as well takes well! have you tried the DigiTech Bad Monkey? crank the amp gain and use the BM to give you the sustain you are looking for. works really well and is nice and transparent. the metal muff is great but has the high sizzle that's not so nice.

  • @mikevmpr3 "All i got to say (in complete constructive criticism) is if u wanted a metal tone, ORANGE, is not the amp of choice."

you're wrong. My Orange AD30 puts out more balls than a peavey 6505..and the cleans are beautiful.

  • Comment removed

  • @WhoisTerrorEyes The only trouble with what's going on here is that people are trying to compare a class-A rock amp to a balls-out metal amp.

They are both totally different sounds, what someone may percieve as "the perfect tone" somebody else would fucking hate.

I see no sense in everybody arguing about something being better than something else, because we all have personal opinions about what sounds good.

Personally I love my Orange, Amen.

  • @Moustachio101 word.

  • dude great tone. and there are plenty of metal bands who use orange so haters can go and suck it.

  • All i got to say (in complete constructive criticism) is if u wanted a metal tone, ORANGE, is not the amp of choice. It was built for other styles of music.Mesa Dual rec., peavey amps (6505/5150, JSX, xxx) even CRAP ASS bugera amps copying other line of amps (i would never recomend a bugera before other metal amps, they are built cheaply), soldano, or engl. all good metal tones right off the bat with a good set of v30s,

  • @mikevmpr3 I see where you're coming from, and I agree that Orange isn't the best amp manufacturer for "metal" amps, but honestly it's all down to personal taste.

For me I much prefer the sound of a Class A amp with something infront to kick it some more gain.

I'm not really using the pedal as a distortion pedal anyway, but more as a overdrive+treble boost to get rid of some of the muddy-ness this amp has when you turn the gain up.

  • @Moustachio101 Understandable, but if you ever get interested in replacing your orange (unless you need it for the appropriate genres, which i can understand further why u have a pedal) guitar center used gear sells amazing amps for cheap.

  • @mikevmpr3 Thanks for the advice, I'll check that out.

  • @mikevmpr3

doesn't really work like that these days. metal's a completely generic term and when you've got Sabbath using old Laney single channel 'low' gain amps, guitarists from Slipknot and Marilyn Manson using Fender guitars, Eddie using bloody Peavey of all things and nearly everyone in between using a generic classic blues designed Marshall the terms get all washy.

Orange have killer tone and with some volume and a good pedal can crush even a Hughes.

  • @thisroninsbane with certain genres of music, come adavances in technology. Is there a Ginormous sabbath or sabbath esque scene?

At any rate distortion pedals blow in comparison to natural preamp driving the post section of an amp. idgaf about what you got to say about peavey, BUT if this guy wants more UMMMPH, in his amp, the orange is not the amp. (my apologies to the uploader)

  • @mikevmpr3

maybe, but if you take any of the major amp makers top end gear it will all be based on old preamp designs.

no artists use a straight amp setup, but the amp(pre) is the most important for setting up the tone's baseline.

this amps tone as a baseline is a great place to start, the only concern being that it's a low gain amp, which is what i think you're getting at. that has nothing to do with tone and can be combated with a decent effects setup.

  • @mikevmpr3 It may not be for the metal styles you favor, but Orange is definitely metal. Soldano, Diezel, Titan, Engl, et al, are all for modern metal styles. Orange, Matamp, Electric, Sunn, Green, etc. are all favored by guys who play doom, stoner, sludge and post-metal styles. If I'm playing stuff like early Sabbath, Sleep, Boris, Electric Wizard, High on Fire or The Sword, I'm choosing Orange.

  • @noisebloom Ok, but this kid in the matter is playing with boost pedal, meaning he wants mroe oomph. i could care less about what you play XD

  • @mikevmpr3 more*

  • @mikevmpr3 So what, he's playing with a boost pedal. Doesn't mean he's going after modern metal. You've missed the point. Orange is still metal.

  • @noisebloom and your missing my point that i dont give a flying fuck what you think hahahahahah XD. i gave the dude in the video some tips in getting some chug, everyone who wants to wah wah wah oh my orange has balls can suck a fat one :D

  • Hey is that a PPC212 cab? and if so open or closed back? :)

  • @quinnsley123 This is the PPC412 closed back cabinet.

I think it still has the original Celestion Vintage v30's in it (I bought this amp second hand).

It's one of the most well built cabinets I've ever used,

Much more sturdy than the old Marshall 1960 I used to use, but that's probably because it's over-sized to give it that nice low end, this thing is BIG and weighs a damn tonne!

  • @Moustachio101 I'd definitely agree that it's well built. >.>

  • vomit

  • @vonalxao1 Yes, your comment induced it.

  • I love this tone. New favorite amp. Orange kicks ass.

  • are you using any pedals? or is that just the tone from the amp? sonds awesome :P

  • @nvfour I'm using an Electro Harmonix Metal Muff, just mainly as a booster.

    Yeah, this amp sounds amazing!!

  • is that an Agile?

  • @jridenoure No, it is a Tokai LC50.

She's an absolute beauty to play.

  • awesome tone man. exactly the tone that i wish my amp would have. ;(

  • This pleases me.

  • Comment removed

  • that is a sexy ass tone. Metal Muff's a great pedal man.

  • @YesterdaysApocalypse Oh it's definitely loud enough for a small/medium venue of around 150-300 people, no problem. And even if you were playing at a stadium, all you'd have to do is shove a microphone infront of the cab and it'd perform just as well a 100 watt double stack.

I gig with it all the time and I have no trouble being heard over a hard hitting drummer and a bassist who is always on 11.

  • haha no way it's dave! i randomly found ya man! it's mini-dave btw

  • It's... Beautiful

  • I was being hallway facetious. We all have our preferences, I really like dark sounding natural distortion. It sounds just fine from what I can tell, it's just not that good of a recording is all. Post the video and I'll give it a listen, I'm sure it sounds great. Oranges are pretty gnarly amps no matter what you put in front. I also have a Sunn Sollarus, which compliments the AD30 really well.

  • Dude, you want to get metal out of this amp? Get an attenuator, turn the master and gain up to 7, turn your guitar volume all the way up, get a compressor and crank it all the way up. A distortion pedal on tube amp is lame, use the natural distortion that you spent over 1000 bucks on!!!

  • @briel I find the natural distortion on this amp can be a bit muddy when the gain is above 5/6, so I use the distortion pedal to make it a little more "crisp" and to boost the signal to get a little more gain.

And, when I use this amp for live shows it sounds absolutely killer, I'll upload a video soon of my band playing and you will see.

    Dave.

  • @Moustachio101 For my metal tones I use a treble booster in front of Channel 2, it tightens up the flubby bass too, sounds great ;)

  • @Moustachio101 I have an AD30HTC and Orange 2x12 cab. I can't get my Master Volume up past 3 without drowning out the rest of the band. I try to open it up a bit, but the sound guy gets me right away. Within seconds I hear "Tim, you gotta turn it down"

  • @briel you dont spend the money on an amp like this to change that much. my guess is he likes qualities of both together. orange can do anything. not every metal guitar player wants to sound like mastodon.

  • Ill show you a metal muff xD
