the green egg looks sweet. I was looking at one the other day. Only a couple of things have me wary of them...the heavy weight and the heavy price!! Still I may get one some day.
@cademar40 Well... I have to tell you. I don't think I would of bought one either. In fact, my wife bought mine and I wasn't exactly thrilled. However, now that I got one, I love it. I have a few smokers and a couple of grills. This things is really all that. Yeah - you're right about the weight. I keep mine in my garage and easily wheel it out when I want to use it. As far as the price - yeah they aren't cheap. But then again - it seems I toss out a BBQ every 2 or 3 years :-)
Good vid on starting the BGE, I am buying one very soon. Have wanted one for many years. I use a weber 22.5 which is also a great grill. But I feel that this is and the way to go. Thank you for sharing.
Loved the video!!!! My husband and I are planning on getting our BGE with tax money this year, so I've been looking at alot of videos and dreaming! I can't wait to make homemade pizzas on it and I've even heard you can bake pies in it!!!
@jenben450362002 You will really like it. Steaks are phenomenal. I hope your tax refund comes in quickly. It's a really nice grill, smoker, conversation piece. :-)
I have had no problems with the BGE or the gasket. Cooking all kinds of stuff in there. Doing some thick old pork chops for New Years Day along with some Hoppin' John and other stuff. Figured I would not do the traditional pork roast. Got a bunch of people coming over for dinner so opted for the chops.
I noticed you did your first cook at 650 F. I have my first brand new Large BGE and was cautioned not to let the maiden cook go to hot as it may singe the felt sealing rings on the rim of the egg and hood. Apparently you need to let the glue cure at a lower temp the first time out.
Did you have any issues with your felt gasket. Can't wait to fire my egg up later on this week. Now back to finishing off construction of my wooden EGG BBQ bench!
@DelSolSea Never had an issue with my BGE / Gasket. I played around with it. Let it heat slow then quite honestly, cranked it up. No issues. Please post a pic of the bench you made.
@airtexaco It's a Large BGE. I've done ribs and pork roasts a turkey and chickens and cornish hens and who knows what else. I really like smoking with it. It is amazing how it just holds the temperature. I just did some steaks for guests the other night and they liked em' a bunch.
@JeffreyCoumbe Not at all. I've had webber's and a bunch of other types of grills, smokers, etc. This is really is that good. It is costly but I enjoy it. It is amazing what and how you can cook with thing. If you were closer, I'd give you a demo.
Man you egg is spotless I can't remember when mine was new. I live in Austin, Texas and cooking on the Egg has been almost a religion. Enjoy you have many years of fun ahead. Cheers! Jim
Nice video. Love seeing the christening of a BGE or any ceramic grill for that matter. You were fortunate to have the understanding it took to pay extra for a ceramic grill. Beatifull job on those steaks. I know you will love your BGE.

The BGE and mw3 are a match made in heaven. What's you'r favorite thing to cook on the bge?
IICOMBOII 2 months ago
@IICOMBOII I have a bunch of favorites I think. It's hard to choose. I'd have to say steaks. Smoked clams were pretty good as well.
