  • Laura Michelle Kelly's voice is like aural therapy

  • I have mixed feelings about the whole thing. On one hand, I don't like the portrayal of the elves - way too Avatar-y and not enough simple elegance; the makeup and haristyles are also not very elvish. However, it's all a separate interpretation of the books, so I can accept it.

On the other hand, the music is beautiful and the aerials, though somewhat strange at first, are actually quite lovely and I can't imagine anyone singing this on the ground :)

  • I remember seeing this back in September 2007 - pretty sure it was Laura - she was brilliant ... I remember her voice being the one that I didn't forget after... even now I listen to the soundtrack and often skip to her solos :P

  • "laura-michelle-kelly" "you" MUST REMEMBER WHO "I" AM

"I" AM THAT AMAZING-'LOOKING'-'MAN' THAT SAT NEXT TO "you" ON THAT "Delta- First- Class" FLIGHT ON THE WAY TO "London" THAT HONESTLY TOLD "you" "'I' AM TRYING TO GET TO 'STONEHENGE'" SO "I" BE COMPLETELY-"physically"-HEALED AND "you" HELD THE HAND "I" HAVE AS "you" PRAYED-&-CRIED!!! (like a fool "I'' lied to "you" in pride saying "'I'-am-OK" (as "I" was truly in tremendous pain) AND "you" SAID "'I' will take 'you'" - PLEASE CONTACT ME

  • "...and I have to sacrifice Lothlorien for the sake of the Middle Earth."

It never ceases to amaze me how little insight some people seem to have into the roles they're portraying. Giving up Lothlorien didn't do anything to help save Middle Earth.

  • @Serena2009ification ... very true but perhaps that's what the director wanted her character to be seen to be doing... there was a lot of story line changing in this musical... and it wouldn't surprise me if that's what was in the 'storyline' of the script. It was a brilliant musical but for a hardcore LOTR fan - I made myself forget the 'real' story... I thoroughly enjoyed the music and this musical but yeah storyline was quite removed from LOTR :P

  • She sings it beautifully, but I personally really don't like this version of Galadriel. She looks and sounds like a Disney princess. :(

  • @silhuetto

What I want to know is who got the weird delusion that it would be a good idea to put her hair up. :-/ Elves, and especially elf females, always wore their hair long and down.

  • I think I saw Abbie play Galadriel. Yes, she wasn't as magical as Laura, but she did a pretty damn good job considering who she had to take over from. Laura is fabulous and I love her voice.

  • the line over her eye...legolas has got it as well.. O.O great song, especially that oowooohoooooooowoo. really good

  • LMK is sooo talented!

    wow.

  • I No Laura Michelle Kelly.

  • @TheJakey94 well if you're not lying please tell her i said hi and she's got an amazing voice next time you see her please :)

  • Yesterday I saw her on her first night as Mary Poppins on Broadway she was really good

  • she sings like an angel. laura is great. even her accent is great

  • Laura is amazing !

    I love her !

    Juan Pablo

  • Laura is so amazing. I went to school with her and remember her singing in to a milk bottle during a science experiment! Bizarre!!

  • @SnapperWon

That's awesome....what kind of experiment was it? Did she break the glass?

  • Wow... this is beautiful...! :DDD

  • ive watched this video ever since october of 2007 and I STILL get shivers

  • Can anyone tell me when Abbie took over?

I saw the show in June...which leading lady did I see perform?

  • It would've been Abbie then, or one of her understudies cos Laura's last performance was Saturday January 26th 2008 =]

But I saw Abbie in the role on July 19th and she did a decent job =]

  • In regards to people enquiring about Abbie she really is not up to the same standard as LMK was Her singing is average and the way she delivers lines lacks subtlty and sounds more like an old woman giving a crystal ball reading(I saw her recently so I know) I was really disappointed with their choice of replacement having seen LMK in Sept. and being blown away by her sincere and frankly perfect performance. Go and see Lotr for Rosalie Craig now for she is the remaining leading lady in my opinion

  • Ok well I saw the final show in the evening of the final night.

I thought Abbie sounded very VERY similar to Laura and that she was a good choice as her replacement.

As for Rosie, yeah she rocked the show too...and all the fans at the Stage Door at the end blew her away.

    Just an AMAZING night!

  • I agree, I saw Abbie not long after she took over (after seeing LMK the first time I saw the show) and I was gutted that LMK had left and I was not impressed with Abbie at all.

But I was there too on the 19th for the final performance and Abby was absolutely bloody amazing, she gave it everything and the song was amazing, and that end applause Lothlorien got is legend and well deserving of it.

It was so cool at the stage door too, the atmosphere was great, I night I wont soon forget!!

  • can anyone tell me where i can get a cd of this or a mp3 of this song? please please if you know tell me because I am dying to get it

  • You may download it from the LOTR site

  • Laura is a very beautiful and nice woman!)I love her voice, the way she sings...Unfortunately I haven't seen this musical (only here on youtube), that's why I'd like to know,Laura sings in the end of this song like here or like in CD's version?

  • she does sound like her!

but i think she releases more wind in the beginning of her notes

    well that's what i think...

  • Like the CD version.

This was recorded and sang for promo footage but in the show she sang it like the CDs version =]

  • Oh,thanks a lot(:

  • I wanna go before it closes, I want a circle seat tho to get a diff view, as great as row B stalls was 1st time lol! Just to hear/see this scene again *love*

    Havent seen it in AGES!

  • cool. abbie sounds like lmk and me and my friend thought it was her! but it wasnt. she is still really good!

  • I was just trying to find a clip of Abbie Osmon as Galadriel, if she sounds the same that's wicked! Booking tix now (circle)... Thanks x

  • she sounds a bit like her anyway!

    hope you enjoy it!

  • really good, doesn't she sound like ruthie henshall at some bits

  • Going to see Lotr AGAIN 6th June maybe..

  • I really really REALLY wanna go see it for a second time but my mum won't let me. :( I want to see it before it gets thrown in the bin for "Oliver" >:(

  • How Poop!

I will not go see Oliver out of spite!

    Damn them!!

  • EXACTLY!! Oliver is Rubbish.. the original is better, tbh. Lotr is so much better! Better songs, MUCH better costumes, Better voices! I bet Andrew Lloyd Webber did the Oliver for Publicity.

  • I'm going to see LotR for my first time June 26th, I had to see it before it closes!

I have the soundtrack and everything, I seriously am so excited about it!

  • Is the 26th a thursday? If so, I'll tell my dad to book it THAT day. I begged him to let me see it a second time.. First time I went with my school. I thanked God I wasnt sitting at edges of stalls coz Orcs were jumping out @ people! Lol

  • Yeah! it is :D

I can't wait! As soon as I get back I'm going to book for another one! I will see it twice, Once is never enough!

  • Lol.. Where are you planning to sit? Balconies are cheapest on Thursdays, so Im sitting there. :)

  • We're going to a matinee, so we have Grand Circle? Dress Circle? something like that. But on my second show, I'll definately be going to an evening performance :D

  • My dad hasnt even booked tickets yet lol! Cant wait though.. I was talking to my friend Tate about it and he was like "Yay?" Because half the time Im singing the songs or talking about it.. :D

  • Haha! I'm always singing.

A silent moment creeps up and its

"Out of death life, out of night day, Glory from sorrow....." Love it!!!!

AND YOU MY CHILD WILL KNOW NO HARM ENFLODED IN MY ARMS!

Haha, I get way into it :D:D

  • ahhh i sat there when I saw it! it was so fun!!

  • I have now decided to go for a third time! a must see before it ends!

  • wow, I didn't realize how fantastic her voice is till now :O

  • I like her so much more than the other lady! She clearly displays Galadriel's maturity, joy, youthfulness, and grace!

  • vocal perfection

  • That was freaking amazing!! She has such a beautiful pure voice!! WOW!!

  • It is Laura I know her, she goes to my church.

  • tell me she's in the choir.

  • well if you're only just realising then you've got some catchin up to do! like she just made a movie with Tim Burton!!

  • i know that. but if she attends church i would hope she puts that instrument tpo use there as well

  • that she did!! :D

  • Do you go to Hillsong London? I met her in the bathroom at Colour last year. He he he. She is so sweet. Extremely talented,

  • Yeah Hillsong London, and no shes not in the choir, there is no choir. She does specials though, like Easter and Christmas.

  • no way! i'd do almost anything to talk to her! she does seem really nice though

  • serious? wow! i wanna meet her :D

  • i went to see it opening night, my college worked on it when it was being workshoped with the choreographer so got to go on the stage and see everything! it is such an amzing show i hope u all get to see it LMK is outstanding it's gutting she's not in it anymore:(

  • I really want to meet her

  • I went on 1st of March, checked the understudy list at the theatre and was like great got LMK again! Comes to the lothlorien scene and after 1 second im like oh nope thats not her...looked it up on the internet when I got home and was upset to see shes no longer in the show! She was so great at the role! No offence to the new one or anything, but her mannerisms are all wrong, even my friend was like 'she wasnt mysterious at all'! Glad I got to see Laura back in December though :)

  • when i went on the 28th of feb she wanst there and i was realli upset!!!!

when did she finish her run???

  • January 26th was her last show.

It was great and the cast gave her flowers on stage and said a little speech just after her final bow.

    =]

  • I was hoping this show would run until Spring of 2009 because I am making a trip with my mom along with her friend to England at that time. I was browsing through its website and I was just awe struck!!! This show looks absolutely amazing!!! I would kill to see it, but its only running until september!!! Not only does the show look stunning I am a fan of Laura Michelle Kelly. Maybe if I just pray, it'll come to the states maybe even California. It could happen.

  • It normally just depends on how many bookings the theatre recieves as to how long the show runs. So there's quite a good chance of it staying until when you're coming here. As to it coming to America, I would guess it would go on Broadway if it was to be done at all, in a similar way to what happened with the Lion King (but reversed). Personally, I think the testing phase in Toronto was the closest you're going to get to an American performance. Hope I helped. =)

  • Well, I heard they're planning to eventually bring it to Dallas (the theatres on Broadway are all too small to present it!), so there may be hope for me! *prays for it*

  • sorry but the show closes in july so i dont think you'll get to see it at all!

  • I saw her in this and she was AMAZING !!! she sooo understood the characyer of Galadriel and her singing and acting was AWESOME !!! o met her asfter the show and she is SOOO sweeet !

  • i met her!! on the train back from the show :D she sat beside me and my mum and my sister...it was awesome!!! shes so nice!!

    :D:D

  • o0o0ooh which date did you go see the show??

=D Shes so sweet isnt she =]

  • ummm i cant remember! it was a while ago now:)

she was chatting away to us cause my sister is in guilford school of acting in london and she knows people there..

it was kind of surreal :P

  • Aww, lucky! I love LMK...I'd love to have the chance to meet her. She seems sooo sweet.

  • Laura is Amazing!!! i wish i could see this! anyone know when the cast recording comes out?

  • 4th Feb.

Unless you go see the show then it's £15 in the theatre =]

  • unfortunately, there is a possibility that the show will come off with Laura. such a shame. i love her in it, she has such presence. I met Laura last year, and she was so sweet, and humble, a true star. i look forward to seeing her in sweeney todd!

  • Laura sings very well. What an enterence too! She is brave, hanging by those big ribbons. I pre-ordered the CD, and I am looking forward to it. It sounds like she is leaving the show, right? Who is taking her place as Galadriel?

  • Abbie Osmon. Saw her on wednesday. She's no LMK

  • i might be singing lothlorien soon!

  • she is brilliant

  • wow

    i wish i was laura
