  • I am amazed how well organized both of your vehicles are.

  • Your computer will run "just fine", but you are definitely shortening its life.

  • LOVE THIS!!!!!!

    THANK YOU for sharing this!!

this woman is amazing... and i think her dearly, as well as you.

Take care and hope all is well!

  • I want my freedom too. I too dream about living in a van or suv by choice.

  • I admire her workmanship..as this is something I definitely could not do! I'm eager to start living the same type of lifestyle here shortly. I had first thought about going a littler larger, such as a Class A diesel pusher but I've now changed my mind and am going with a Class B van motor home. Still in process of finding a 3-4 year old Roadtrek RS Adventurous to use, as it'll have all that this woman has, plus a bathroom & shower as well!

  • good for you

  • Where/How do you wash/shower?

  • I'm sad now.

  • Nice lady...lovely home..why not...? Very cosy too.....

  • i think i love her,lol.

  • great attitude,great spirit!

  • ah, planned home-freeness.

  • I love how smart she is. I wouldn't even know how to take the seats out of a van and she transformed the whole thing into a home. Amazing. I want to be her travel buddy.

  • This is awesome!

  • brilliant thank you for this vid all the best

  • What a cool lady! Thanks for making the vid.

  • What a strange compound word "vandwelling" is.

  • rachel you are awesome!!! i love what you are doing! true freedom....xoxoxo

  • Get a head lamp the trick to using them is wearing a head sweatband. Start answering craigslist ads for old airstreams you can get a camper with all the baseline stuff~$2k I got one that had a new frige for that and it is a good camper it is already wired plummed insulated. Great thing about campers is you can disconnect and drive your power unit around if you have a malfunction in power unit you still have a place to live stay away from Cali they hate full timers that dont pay for park.

  • that's just dammmmmmmmmmn nice !! great job

  • hero!

  • VERY SMART! GREAT JOB!

  • bravo! she customized it too? nice.

  • sooooooooo, is she retired?? How does she get her money to live? I know you can get jobs here and there, but she isnt mentioning it at all. Think I would need a bit more room since i have 5 small dogs. Wish i would have learned about van living/ rv living when i was in my flippin 20's!!!

  • @wheelori814

Don't know about her, but I can tell you about me (I'm doing a similar project - living in a car, moving up to a custom RV). I make my income 100% online via writing articles for Squidoo & Associated Content + selling my art/paintings/photography on Zazzle & CafePress + doing online psychic/card readings. I make $50 - $600 per month. If it was just me alone that income would be more than enough but with pets I need more so I'm trying to get my income up to $300 - $800 per month.

  • @wheelori814

I would think, having 5 dogs, you'd be quite cramped in a van. If it was me with 5 dogs I would get an RV not shorter than 26'. (I once had 8 dogs all at once, each 40 - 120 lbs, so I know that many at one time takes up A LOT of room!) Right now I have 12 cats, so a van is too small for me, I'm using '80s 31' Class A. Gutting out the inside to do a total custom interior. Painting it pink outside, doing it red shag inside. If it was just me (no pets) I'd do a '50s VW bus instead.

  • @EelKat Lady, you live in a car with 12 cats? What happened to your 8 dogs? I think you need to make a video LOL

  • id love to do this to my hi top conversion van

  • I love this lady and want to be her buddy

  • What a great van! So inspiring to see a woman doing this- Ia m now doing research to out fit my own van, thanks Rachel and Jennifer.

  • um im guessing im what you call a rookie at vehicle dwelling since ive only been doing it for a grand total of 5 months but to make a suggestion or two ya. on ebay you can get a 12volt solar battery charger for like 34$ so if ya had 38 you could solar charge your two batteries. um for interior lights you can get solar lawn light for 2$ or 3$ at walmart lawn and garden so get couple of them for light. thats couple of my plans i want to full time van dwell from aug on but i need a van lol

  • @bluemew88888 correcting my mistake lol i meant if you had 68$ not 38 you could solar charge your two batteries everyday it would be cheaper than using a generator and engine to do it cause the 68 dollars is one time thing

  • this is very helpful, thank you.

  • oh no, harbor freight! their stuff is so low quality, i hope that doesn't break on her.

  • we got a 2010 american coach eagle last year not really the live in kind or rv

  • just curious.....how does she afford living if she is always traveling? did she save up lots of money to do so?

  • I agree you are one Awsome woman

I wish you all the best

    Namaste

  • maybe look into solar?

  • She's sooooo awesome!!! I want to be just like her when I finally grow up! I've had a bad run - so I lost my home vehicle, etc. - not by choice (joblessness). But, I'm kind of relieved - oddly enough. I am craving freedom too. Good for her - I love her spirit!

  • You just cannot put a price on pure freedom! Love what she has done!

  • Although, I don't have near the knowledge you have to convert a van into a home I have been more then pondering this moment for some years now. I have recently decided to give up the propaganda and decided to turn in my house, car, and truck to move into a stage of freedom. My only problem is that I need to have 24/7 temp control against the 4 season conditions for a best friend dog for when I am working and such. I have faith that I will find the answers to my questions but fearthemidnghtshit

  • Impressive, it looks very comfy and usable. I'd like to know what she did for heat though. Best of luck to you both!

  • if you atach two solar panel flat on your rooftop they work well charging your batteries, maebe you dont need that much your generator....

  • Im been thinking about doing the same thing to my GMC Safari great video

  • Is there a way to contact Rachel again and get the schematics of her electrical system? vagabondkeith at yahoo dot com

    Thanks!

  • this is by far the best video of van living so far. great job! I love this lifestyle.

  • Great interview, I really enjoyed watching it.

That pretty lady could camp out in my driveway any day she wants....lol

  • This is totally impressive! Live life to the fullest, you've done a great job with the van.

  • Very informative, down to earth interview. I can't wait to get my van and doing some exploring. Thank you Rachel & Jennifer

  • Insightful interview! I appreciate the revealing questions you asked to explore the vandwelling lifestyle. Thank you! I hope you'll conduct more interviews. Until then...celebrate life! Laurie
