In XVII century all kinds (heavy - hussars, middle - pancerni and light - wołosi/tatarzy) of polish cavalry was better than cossacs. Cossacs cavalry was only for recon. The succes of Chmielnicki's uprising was to merge fine cossacs infantry with good Tatars cavalry.
@crazykoszy1 In case no one has gotten back to you as to the music, some is a generic Ukrainian musical style, but the predominant melody is that of an old traditional song called "Їхав козак за Дунай" (which translates as roughly: A Cossack Rode Towards/Beyond the Danube).
I've found 2 reasonable versions for you:
youtube.com/watch?v=lPLi0dtuui4
and another I like because it represents the traditional/national folk style of singing:
I have seen this show at the hungarian horse festival in Zánka. The cossacks gave show 3 time, and they had riding with the horses in the rain. And when the show was ended the crowd screamed! It was aaaawsome! The cossacks are very friendly guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We liked the show!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@crazykoszy1 It's so good to read your comment! Even though I am of Ukrainian Cossack origin, I don't want arguments as to who is better. Skilled riding is skilled riding & should be appreciated for what it is. I am reminded of an Hungarian friend who had many anecdotes from his grandfather about when the Ukrainian Cossacks would ride across the Soviet border to attend markets/bazaars in Hungary as they'd done for generations. The locals loved them & they loved the locals so risked their lives!
I love my country! i love my people! and thats why we have great history and great people, im not counting the part of our history 1900-1990 when these fucking russians made us part of thir fucking comunist country, but still out great grand parents did all they could when russians came PROUD TO BE UKRAINIAN slava Ukraini
I knew one chestnut stallion under rider wearing red sharovary and brown waistcoat. what a pity now is doing hardly anything in England, nothing to do with cossacks riding, don't know why:(
