  • I have the same problem saying my name.

  • The speach easy is a waste of money. The makers of this device should be ashamed of themselves for stealing stutterers money. It works for a month or two and then doesn't. Thanks for trying but please stop selling this. Your ripping stutterers off.

  • do you know its 5000$????

  • DONT BUY IT!..it only works wheres theres no noise...and even then the device loses iits effectiveness overtime..about a month or two to be exact...go get a hair mineral analyisis to determine your mineral levels..stuttering is caused by mineral imbalances..usally magnesium..but others could effect it as well too...that device is a waste of money

  • @piffblower69 YEH I WAS THINKING ABOUT NOISE, WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF I WAS IN A CLUB?

  • I want this device so bad, but it's too damn costly-it infuriates me that this device is sold so costly and those that desperatly need it can't afford it.

We want help, but we can't afford it. A device is sold, but not be able to afford it!

  • @happy7117 But I am so pumped for Dan-- he is helped immensely by the SE! I want this thing so bad.

  • Comment removed

  • 4 grands is a total rip off, I feel bad for people that have to pay for this. I've heard that taking magnesium can help people that stutter, so think about magnesium supplements or raw spinach. It's certainly cheaper and easy to find out if it gives results.

  • 4 GRAND?! Why can't the price be lowered so people can afford them.

  • This made me tear up...I'm looking into buying this. It is expensive but they have a payment plan.

  • Wow that was such a powerful story. He must have really busted his ass to become the top of his class and graduate from law school... Had this device not come out, all his hard work would have gone to complete waste. I really hope he becomes a successful lawyer, because he deserves it. Thank goodness for advancements in science.

  • And another thing: PATIENCE doed NOT HELP a stutterer. No matter how patient a listener is, a stutter will still NOT be able to say what he or she wants.

The more a listener does not help a stutterer, the more a stutterer will struggle and get frusterated.

And the more a stutterer stutterers, the more impatient a listener gets.

This advice is ONLY FOR EASY STUTTERERS WHO CAN STILL BE UNDERSTOOD WITH ONLY SOME STUTTERING.

  • -last part-

Being patient is only putting yourself through hell while trying to understand a stutter which won't be understood anyway.

The listener is actualy doing more harm then good when being patient with a stutterer. The listener often doesn't understand the stutterer because the listener was being patienct instead of helping.

Why try to understand a stutterer when he won't be understood in the 1st place??

  • its is a miracle ,BUT I NEED A MIRACLE TO GET THE MONEY LOLL

  • They have an app for iphone/ipod touch that works the same way as this thing does look it up on the app store "DAF assistant"

Ipod +headphones W/ mic + app = cheaper then $5000! It has a trial too.

  • Yeah i got that, only problem is that you need a mic and headphone for it to work properly . Using a bluetooth works but you can hear your self speak. I think with this all you hear is the high pitch and delay not your voice at all.

  • when i first got my device thingy they said i wouldent be able to tell that i was not stuttering. and it was true. for the first few months i thought i was still stuttering but everyone ells told me i wasent. and one day it randomly kicked in and i could hear myself not stuttering. its beacuse whn u stutter for ur hole life. u dont relise that ur not stuttering when u first use the device. but it does work . and it changes people lives. its a great device

  • Did u buy urs for 4grand too, itis so expensive though.Wow it works for him.

  • I actually recieved the speecheasy free from the State of Louisiana. Went through a few tests and speech appointment and get it for free. Worked wonders and helped me get a great job

  • And yes, I have wanted one of these audio feedback devices for years now because my social life is being crushed...

    as well as my self-esteem.

And people waiting for me to say something when I can't without their help makes me stutter worse than I already am.

  • Outrageously sick and cruel!!

$4,000 for something that can make a difference to a stutter like me and yet, it's unaffordable because of the price.

Sick SOB's should die, an oppurtunity unatainable because of the price..

What's the point in helping others, if those "others" can't aford it...

  • I agree, they want to help people but most people can not even afford it. Im sure that thing is not really worth $4,000. They dont want to help they just want to make some money. Sad world we live in.

  • you r right ,i need one of these to make my life sucessful but the price is outrageoussssssssssssss 4,000 pounds just for a little device that plays back your own voice

  • @happy7117 You can get an iphone and then search for DAF Assistant software on google. All it is is delayed auditory feedback... No need to pay 4000......

  • @NYredwhiteandblue yeah, when I first heard how much this unit cost I flipped out. I can guarantee you there is not 4000 bucks worth of technology in this thing. All it is is like a delay or reverb on a guitar amp with a pitch shift. This should cost about 100 bucks ...tops

  • @happy7117 hey man you know those scientists gotta eat too. they have a whole bunch of bills to pay for producing, shipping, etc.

  • mine didn't work on me..........

  • The speech easy works by delayed auditory feedback, where the device plays back your own voice with a delay and a pitch change. The pitch change prevents your brain from knowing it is your own voice. Some insurances will cover it, but sadly, mine didn't. Mine was 4700$, and well worth every penny. Yes, it is so much money, but I would pay three times that for the same effect.

  • if only it didnt cost that much, this would make my life easier

  • i think this is a great story..and it's also revolutionary into tapping our technology onto new levels unheard of. Great for mankind!

  • after a while when the stutter person get used to hear his own voice he go back to stutter again..

  • It is very expensive and what if you loose it. Which is very possible.

  • $4,000?????? OMFG...com on cant they make somthing cheaper????....i woul give anything to get rid of this wow

  • It does seem like a lot... Medical stuff is always expensive, but on the bright side it looks like you'd only need 1!

Hopefully medical care programs and/or insurance would ease the pain of something like this?

  • wait im confused, u sed "on the bright side it looks like i dont need 1".... what do u mean by that?

and i dont think insurance can cover it because stuttering doesnt effect your health in any way. It just makes it harder to get a job, do regular things, and etc

  • i think it should be covered under insurance or at least reduced dramatically as well.

  • i agree

  • Wat a tosser, (the guy that left the comment before me)

  • God DAMNIT YOU BULLY SHUT YOUR FUCKING MOUTH

my GOD WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE SO MEAN

  • ill break ur teeth u keep fucking around like that....its no fucking joke

  • I wonder about this device if in fact it really works. I started a self-hypnosis treatment and I think I improved slightly. Its going to take work but I am confident it will go away. This is a learned behavior, it can also be unlearned.

  • The speecheasy isn't that great I used connected speech to eliminate my stutter without devices

  • I want THAT DEVICE!! It's about $4100 to $4900 and there's one in the Seattle-area. :D after 25 years of the horrored taunts I'm about to END IT.

  • im inside playing world of warcraft all the time when im not working or sleeping, i love social interaction. Its just not possible because i stutter. I hate to see ppl stutter so i dont like it that i stutter myself. Its far from as bad as this guy but its keeping me from getting reallife social contacts. How can i think if ppl will accept a stutterer when i cant accept it myself. Sometimes killin myself seems to be the only solution....

  • If you are really interested in what can be done to reduce the amount of stuttering in this world, please search for 'speakingout2' and look at 'Save 9 out of 10 children from a lifetime of stammering'. There is currently an opportunity to do exactly this in England and Wales, but it would be possible to do it in any country in the world. The video is a bit long and serious, and there is quite a lot of stuttering, but it's very important stuff. Nice shirt, too.

  • That's my half brother. he's now an assistant prosecuting attorney for Yakima county, unfortunately the effects did not last. He can still use it but it needs adjustments now and then. But they made his stuttering look a lot worse than it is. he gets a lot worse when he is nervous or stressed.

  • i know he is married, but damn, he is so hot!

  • I wish was Danny-Boy was a chick so I could say he's hot!

  • This is an awesome device. gives hope to people.

  • i stutter to not as bad as this guy, im lookin at gettin one of those im 14

  • i know how all you people feel.. but these things are so fake... i know so many people that have them and they dont work for them they are only beneficial once you have skills downpact message me more for details about fluency

  • Have you tried one to be able to claim they are fake??

I tried one in a speech therapy session, I obvioslu could not keep it, but I was fluent immediately.

  • Be warned: these Speech Easy device videos are a very slick commercial advertising.

I have been a stutterer for 50 years and can pick out in a second what a distraction gimmick is and what a real therapy program is.

I have tried the Speech Easy a delay device that distracts a person's mind away from his/her speech process.

Yes they work for the short term; however, when worn for an extended period of time, your automatic motor reflex system over rides the distraction.

  • the speech easy does work but only for short term. your body does adjust to it. it does help during presentations and i am really happy to have it but honest i cannot wear mind all the time because you literally hear everything and it can be very annoying. I would recommend it for presentations and times when you really need to speak clearly.

  • I grew up stuttering, and although I went through much speech therapy, including biofeedback, it didn't get better. I know the feelings of fear, isolation, and rejection that come with it. I have painful moments in my teenage school years forever etched in my memory. Now, it has greatly improved, and I can only thank Christ for that. I still do struggle at times to get words out, and that's frustrating, but I'm more at peace now. Bless all you who stutter. Don't give up.

  • Add me, dude. Do you have the device?? Does it work???

  • Attention, all stammerers. I am currently composing a short video explaining how I have all but conquered my stammering problem of 21 years. My approach does not involve ridiculously expensive little earpieces or even speech therapy. Be warned, it is NOT easy to implement and will probably be received with some controversy. However, I now regard myself as about 90% cured with 100% fluency as a realistic goal. I hope to have the vid posted around Feb 15th; check my profile!

  • Man i'd love to try one of these. My stammer wasn't as bad as this guys, i usually shut up when i know i can say something, or replace the words, or just try and force the word out as i'm sure most stuterrers do. I hate it when people ask me my name lol. But i hate even more that i can't reply them. Good for you dan.

  • my stuttering is so bad i think of suicide.. if i wasnt such a coward i wouldve did it already

  • I Was Stutter. now i,m 13 years old, This Was my problem .Now i m not stutter because i training with myself ,if i starts speak i starts speaks slowly and i not sutter;D. im From Estonia!.Forom Tallinn.

  • I stutter also, and its really taking a toll on my life. Sometimes I feel is if im going to lose my girlfriend and social life all together. My parents are looking into getting me a SpeachEasy. I cant wait to use one of these.

  • I also suffer from this, but I don't have it nearly as bad as this guy... I mean I've never seen someone so affected by this.

  • i stutter and am trying to find a way to stop so this might help me.
