This is not the receiver malfunctioning, I am a top DirecTV tech. over 95% of the time on this problem, you have a bad fitting or cable feeding that receiver. The cable must be RG6 not RG59, compression fittings, weather sealed fittings. If the weather gets in the fittings it corodes the conductor creating this issue. A kinked cable will also cause this, I bet if the ENTIRE cable run was replaced this would stop occuring. Other things can cause this in the system but usualy always the cable run
Since you are a Technition, can you tell me why my picture is slightly pixelated? I'm not using HD, I'm using Standard. But when pictures or text move, you can see slight pixelation around the edges. It's not urgent or a major problem but it is disturbing.
They automatically charged my American Express a $440.00 "early cancellation fee" even though I suffered for more than 2 years with them. After much aggravations, I got it back. I'd say why bother with Directv? There are so many better choices. Why do you have to pay an extra $5.99/month?
I'm sorry you had a bad experience with them, but I've had D* for over 3 years as of last month and I could not be more satisfied. I have their HD DVR service and it is top-notch. Also the $5.99/month extra is for the "Protection Plan" which covers ALL equipment. For example, they will come out and realign your dish if it gets messed up after a storm, will replace any receivers if they don't function correctly, will replace any defective remotes, and a lot more.
Edit your favorite channels list you noob

YOu know that every time they give you a new receiver, they renew your contract another 2 years? They replaced mine 3 times already, all were crap.

They won't add another 2 years commitment if you have a leased receiver and the $5.99/month Protection Plan.
