  • Thanks so much for posting this! These guys were one of the awesome Aussie bands of the 1980's!!

  • In my opinion, the lead singer looks a bit like an older version of Elijah Wood. This tune is king tone! A great tribute to what was left of the psychedelic sound of the late 1960s. Some of the very best in "psychedelic" sound was created between 1965 and 1967 (prior to, and during, the so-called Summer of Love).

  • As a kid I always thought this was Mystery Love. Works just the same : )

  • This tune is a sweet musical retrospective of the late 1960s. Hopefully, a new generation will bring it all back. Love the wah-wah and the short psyche guitar riffs. This tune reminds me of my old garage band days (1965 -- 1966). So, I'm "old." But, looking back, oh..., how the neighbors hated us.

  • Can't get over how awesome this is

  • If there is any way to speed up my Lava Lamp, to match the tempo and beat of "Miss Freelove '69", I'd appreciate the insight!! Gosh, felt like I was watching a promo video for an unreleased "Austin Powers" movie!! YEAH, BABY!!! The more I hear and see of the Hoodoo Gurus, the more I likes!!

  • such a good song :D

  • One of the best shows I've seen. They came through Portland on the 'Crank' tour and I had the most fun I've ever had at a gig.

  • i met Dave at a Sharks game last year. He seemed pleased that i asked for his photo :)

  • for a moment there, they sounded like Moby Grape - excellent satirical retro sound

  • That little girl is seriously the cutest thing ever! I love this video & song :)

  • 5 people pay for their love!

  • Psychedelic video!

  • Lead singer reminds me of Sheldon from Big Bang ...

  • @orden265 That's really funny. Now that I look at him, you are right.

  • One of the best and catchiest bands to come out of Australia. I really can't understand why they are not more popular.

  • @TheFrazer84 It's one of my theories that bands with a decent sense of humor have a tough time in rock; something about "not taking it seriously" or "not respecting the Majesty That Is ROCK" or something. It's okay for boring, established acts to have a giggle once in awhile as long as it's generically "fun", but ones that are just naturally fun or even not "serious" have to work many times harder and don't get as far as bands that work the same themes -- Lovin', Rebellin', Rockin', etc.

  • Oh many memories of Cardiff Workers club back in the 80's and the Hoodus good times indeed

  • who is the small child at the start and why do i feel like i've seen her in something else

  • I heard it was one of the band members daughter,I think the drummers but I'm not positive. She is precious! I remember this video when it first came out on 120 minutes....

  • Cool.

  • Where's PedoBear when you need him?

  • @beachboundforever

Was thinking the same thing WTF. Somethings not right.

  • too awesome.

  • dont worry mate, i would have got up and danced too, these guys rock, all aussie rock

  • More than holds it own against some of todays crap. Thanks for the posting

  • dave matthews loves the hoodoo gurus

  • @shinybald36 dave matthews is a fag!

  • @shinybald36 dave matthews is a fag!

  • @MrLOSDEMAS so is your boyfriend....

  • Dear God,

As you know, the Gurus were beyond great.

When you visit earth to gaze at your creation you will know that the Gurus knew what it was all about

    Need anything more be said?

  • I'm no fan of his, but I cant help but think that this song was made for Robbie Williams to cover....

  • I was in a band and we covered this song and we would say that was a Hoodoo Gurus song and(depending on the gig) people would be asking who?

  • one of the most entertaining live acts around....saw them in a club in Toronto....they had the amps turned toward the band....cranked...took 3 days to get my hearing back...awesome

  • I was supposed to see these guys in WA but the bloody volcano in iceland left me delayed for 2 weeks in europe, really looking forward to seeing them some time later theyre awesome.

  • The 8 year old girl is the daughter of the drummer. For a little girl, she can really shake it !

  • @nightshadeah umm actually that girl is my sister and no she isnt the daughter of the drumer.

  • Are these guys really gay? Why are they singing about this girl?

  • I love the little girl in this video

  • @boboberg100 shes is my sister (:

  • I dont think Dave cared people knew he was gay by this song...Love It:)

  • @VVV73 dave faulkner isn't gay there's nothing wrong with homosexuals but dave isn't

  • shaun robbo loves this song

  • The guitar in this song sounds so much like the Meat Puppets.

  • thats my friends sister no kidding it xoxsmiley4evaxox older sister

  • LOL

    thnx.

  • @xxtiktokxxx haha lollsss xx

  • If u guys wanna hear a hilarious song look up

Frank Zappa-Why does it hurt when i pee

  • ok,seriously.. who dressed this band? its like watching the mentally challenged

  • great band love them

  • One of my favorite bands of all time!

  • seems like the Guru's used the same director for all their videos. They all have the same bright saturated colorful look to them.

  • Saw these guys a few months back in Kununurra. Awesome gig, front row centre. They started calling people onstage to dance so I pushed thru the bouncers and stood up next to Dave so pumped. He said, "not you cowboy" then I realised everyone who got up were chicks. How was I supposed to know this song was about to play. haha yeah I felt like a drunk idiot...

  • that's funny! Great story!

Never really loved this song when released coz' it was over-played - now living in USA for last 12 years and on a Aussie rock flash back - THIS SONG (and all the Gurus stuff) is amazing... saw Gurus back in 1984/5 and then many times since - love 'em

  • @billycooke80 So much for free love lol!

  • @billycooke80 you're a bloke with a nice sense of humor. Thanks for share. Best!

  • @billycooke80 Best story ever!!!!

  • @billycooke80

    nice work mate

  • I think it would be so fun to dance under a parachute like that. Alcohol or disco treats would make that great fun. I'm addicted to this song.

  • Absolutely! What a wonderful tune.

  • Yeah ... Wouldn't put my 11yo up there ... Wonder what she thinks of it now, though? ... I bet she gets a giggle out of seeing it ... Amazing vid, awesome song!!

  • She'd be 29 now... yikes time flies by.

  • I think that's kinda the point, Neddie... the joke is that people singing about Free Love in the 70s would have to remember that their objects of affection would have been about 11 in 1969 - the Gurus just literally put that up on screen :-)

  • @nseagoon71 that little girl is turning 29. she is my sister.

  • I so love the hoodoos...saw them live back in the 80s in a small club in boston...such a great band.

  • Makes me think of the movie "Little Miss Sunshine".

  • Yeah, that little girl is freaky.

  • I've always been a bit uncomfortable with an 11 y/o girl "struttin' her stuff" in this video.

  • I believe she is the daughter of the drummer. agree with you though, I dunno bout her doing that.

  • me too

  • @ChopBoy09 thats my older sister

  • Cool song and video. That tune really makes you wanna giggle.

  • I so love the Hoodoo Gurus!!!

But that little girl in the silver freaks me out!

  • man what happend to music after this era?!

  • It turned black and obsessed with sex

  • Absolutely fantastic Australian rock, they were great live, listening to any of their songs just brings back such vivid memories of that time

  • THANK'S M8!!

     I"m feeling better now.

  • Does anyone else think of 'Groove Is In The Heart'

when they see this Video? Both Vids are DeLiteful

reminders of the brief fascination in the mid 90s for 60s music and clothing. Good times they were!

  • Fantastic tune - jeez they wrote some good songs!

  • 1980? More like early to mid 90's.

  • I have a copy of the video from at the latest 88.

  • Just did a check and this video was released in 1987

  • Do another check - "It was released on RCA Records in February, 1991;"....I doubt that they released the video four years before the single.

  • nope 91 is when Kinky came out

  • I saw this video in 1980 something and loved it.Thanks for posting this.

  • Is that a midget? If it isnt i need help!

  • Caught them in Vancouver in 1987 for the Blow Your Cool tour. They were awesome live!

We need more bands like the Gurus!

  • OHHHHHH gottta love the Aussie pub rock music.... no-one does it better,,,,,

  • Love love love the guitar at the start

  • saw these guys in Liverpool [UK] in 1989. They rocked their arses off. 'Magnum Cum Louder' and 'Kinky' are top fuckin albums

  • Actually, I remember Miss freelove '69, Axegrinder, I want you back being played on college radio...at least in N.C./NM/and Maryland..for certain !

  • The only song by the gurus that was played on the u.s. college stations was "come anytime". damn shame because there was a time where there were great aussie bands that should've been bigger: midnight oil, the church, crowded house (my fave), icehouse, hoodoo gurus, etc....

    what about wa-wa-nee? hahaha

  • who were the dancing girls?

  • I used to live in Australia in the late 80's-early 90's, I just love aussie music, especially Hoodoo Gurus, Ice House, Boom Crash Opera & 1927....What a pity these bands never made it in Europe.

  • They made it in Europe ... I saw thwem in Spain in 88 or so, and then again ... just 3 monyths ago !!!

  • saw these guys play near Santa Barbara, CA, in the late 80's...they rocked!

  • my second name is freelove lol

  • Its a good catchy aussie song! thats what i like about it!

btw thats a bit wierd and pedo dionsmith007

  • I saw these dudes play in 86 or 87. In our little underground music scene they were one of the gems. I still have em on regular rotation. They were ahead of their time. This tune got a lot of air but radio ingored the rest in the US. Shame!

  • i'd like to spank the girls bottom

  • Awesome syncopated rhythm!!!

    I can't stop chair dancing...arggggggg!

    Totally underrated band.

    Excellent post!

  • I loooooooooooooooooooooooove this song!!!

  • Hoodoo Gurus are the most under-rated band. They suffered only because they weren't untalented models. Love thier music!

  • Amen!

  • @leftcoast67 totally agree 100%

  • Don't forget about Magnum Cum Louder as best Hoodoo Gurus album. It's hard to pick one.

  • freakin awesome!

  • go see this lot live if u get the chance!!

  • miss sweet love looks about 13

  • this is totally my song right now, love it too bits! Forgot about it for a while but am reliving some classics at moment.

  • here here, to good classic rock songs. With good riffs and great lyics!

  • Totally and heard Whats my scene on the radio today. Love Bittersweet too. That was a great era. I think I scared the other drivers when I was pretending to play lead guitar while driving!

  • Yeah good stuff, well this music was goin down when I wasn't born. So I missed my era!

  • Disagree, both Mars needs Guitars & Blow YOur cool are better than Kinky

  • in my opinion, only mars need guitars is better

  • For the record, Kinky is their best album. Bar none.

  • I saw these guys in Baton Rouge, LA in 1992 or 1993 and they were awesome. The guitar sound from both guitar players was so raw and distorted and loud and awesome. I didn't know that they might be reuniting. If they do, I will be sure to see them.

  • Ditto

  • Kinky was such a great CD

  • que buenos que son!

  • its sooo good

  • kinda to much of the hippie stuff but i still dig it thanks who put this on

  • It was on "Kinky."

  • Does anybody know which album this was originally released on?

  • Hoodoo Gurus are one of the most underrated aussie bands. Brilliant band, great song.

  • so innocuous and nostalgic...too bad so grainy.

    Thank you!

  • the Greatest Band that most people never have heard of...total classic!

  • Well aussies around the world tend to spread this.... I know from Stockholm university class of 96(!). I still like it! So totally underrated!
