@kdnladner93 the arrival dlc is a crucial dlc for story purposes (best way to make money) at the start of mass effect 3 your at a trial because of the events of arrival.

i do have an honest question here about this though, if they need the mass relays to jump to different systems, (as far as i know they just travel at sub FTL speeds without them) then how do they know there were no survivors? wouldn't traveling back to the Batarian system at sub FTL speeds take hundreds if not thousands of years? or are there more than 1 mass relay per system? (i know from the 1st game that liara t'soni said that some link to more than 1 system) anyone got any ideas on this?
It exploded like a supernova. No planet could survive a supernova. If our sun exploded like that, every planet in our system and then some would be destroyed.

There is no communication with the world. If there is on communication, then the planet must be destroyed. That, and the planet was in the blast radius of the supernova explosion.
@THECHAOS111 the communications network is FTL... and I'm guessing there would be systems close by they could jump to and make it, say, several weeks travel or something to that effect. just cause we don't see it on our star chart, doesn't mean its not there ;)
The Batarians are assholes. Like Zaeed said, they'd happily turn a whole planet into a smoking ruin just to send a message.
Besides, Shepard is a Spectre (assuming you've gone paragon all the way through). He does whatever it takes. If the deaths of 350, 000 Batarians (who are enemies of the citadel anyway) are the price of peace, so be it. Would Nihlus or any other spectre have done otherwise?
Shitty dlc mission is shitty. Worst way possible to create the foundation ME3 is to be built off of. It makes me reconsider if ME3 will be worth buying.

This dlc is just to bridge the gap between ME2 and ME3 as to show how, from the devs point of view, did the events of Shepard blowing up an entire system to slow the Reaper invasion occurred. You can make one out in your mind yourself. Its free. I do that all the times. I admit that some of my versions are more awesome but hey, nothing is perfect. Also, nobody's forcing you to buy ME3. And lets be honest, when it does comes out, thats the only thing you will ever want then.

@fallanhop2 but then why does he say "ill stand trial once this mission is done" when the mission is done already? Maybe that line just shows that it really doesnt matter when you complete Arrival, because you dpn't have to go to trial immediately anyway. It probably takes a while for them to build a case against you, and the Alliance will anyhow give you some time to get rid of the Collectors. ME3 opens with a consequence of your actions in Arrival, but it does not need to happen right after.
Imagine if Shepard timed it perfectly where that at the exact moment the reapers arrived in the system, the Supernova was going off. He could've retired early.

It seems like Mark Meer really improved with the whole voice-acting thing in this DLC. I always thought he was rather flat in ME1 and ME2, but he sounded pretty convincing in this. I hope he keeps it up in ME3.
@DecmanReturns The idea was that he was kinda supposed to be as deadpan as possible, so that you could decide what Shepard's actual feelings towards the situation were. Testing showed that if your character sounded angry with the situation, you'd be more likely to pick the agressive (Renegade) options.
@clemsonpacer1 If you're under the pretense that the Reapers themselves created the Mass Relays. I'm sure in Mass Effect 3 we'll find out where the Reapers came from, but I believe they're the legacy of the first space faring race. Possibly made as some type of government or enforcers of peace that had programming errors.
@MrAlienkiller Agreed, but the way I see it is the creators couldn't think of a back story for the Reapers in ME1 so they basically said, "screw it, we'll think of it another time.". I believe we'll learn their back story in ME3, and that's the only thing I can think of. The creators, however, are much better at thinking up these things so hopefully they come up with something original.
I'm guessing ME3 will start with the Council revoking Shepard's Spectre status. I mean, they did the same to Saren, and no-one even knew what he was planning. Shepard's only excuse involves the Reapers, which won't convince the Council.
@ginganinja714 Except that there is no evidence Shepard was involved in the Bahak system. With Saren and Eden Prime, there was. The Council wouldn't just revoke Spectre status of someone without any evidence. The trial in ME3 is purely an Alliance political maneuver and has nothing to do with the Council. At most, they'll elect a 'wait and see' stance and strip Shepard after being found guilty.

@paulman34340 well, yeah, all the ones we've seen are scumbags, but that doesn't mean ALL batarians deserve to die, there must have been some doctors, firemen or something like that on a colony as big as Arathor
That's not counting that the already shitty batarian-human relations went straight to the crapper, pretty much nulifying any possible cooperaton against the reapers, and possible war

Oh, I remember that poor girl :(, too bad I didn't transfer my colonist ME1 file, so I didn't know what went up with her later.
Although, even if slavery was a pretty big part of their culture, maybe not everyone is guilty... mmmhhh, now that I think about it, maybe a few thousand slaves died there, hah! that's even worst! :(

It seems like Mark Meer really improved with the whole voice-acting thing in this DLC. I always thought he was rather flat in ME1 and ME2, but he sounded pretty convincing in this. I hope he keeps it up in ME3.

@DecmanReturns The idea was that he was kinda supposed to be as deadpan as possible, so that you could decide what Shepard's actual feelings towards the situation were. Testing showed that if your character sounded angry with the situation, you'd be more likely to pick the agressive (Renegade) options.

@clemsonpacer1 If you're under the pretense that the Reapers themselves created the Mass Relays. I'm sure in Mass Effect 3 we'll find out where the Reapers came from, but I believe they're the legacy of the first space faring race. Possibly made as some type of government or enforcers of peace that had programming errors.

@MrAlienkiller Agreed, but the way I see it is the creators couldn't think of a back story for the Reapers in ME1 so they basically said, "screw it, we'll think of it another time.". I believe we'll learn their back story in ME3, and that's the only thing I can think of. The creators, however, are much better at thinking up these things so hopefully they come up with something original.

I'm guessing ME3 will start with the Council revoking Shepard's Spectre status. I mean, they did the same to Saren, and no-one even knew what he was planning. Shepard's only excuse involves the Reapers, which won't convince the Council.

@ginganinja714 Except that there is no evidence Shepard was involved in the Bahak system. With Saren and Eden Prime, there was. The Council wouldn't just revoke Spectre status of someone without any evidence. The trial in ME3 is purely an Alliance political maneuver and has nothing to do with the Council. At most, they'll elect a 'wait and see' stance and strip Shepard after being found guilty.
