  • I'm having trouble understanding how the God particle is such a bad thing. What would it mean for us? A new way to create something from nothing or a way to try to disprove God?

  • People, learn about physics before jumping to irrational conclusions. Come on

  • Well IMO things like the LHC will bring or enable Satan so to speak to return, say via a portal, that being said, IMO i think we are also going to invite or enable God to return as well...

  • I Hate that they have to call the Higgs the "god particale" to get anyone to watch.

  • @hypernovie yeah.. it's like a scientist can talk 3 hours in detail about the most complex systems, and some people will still conclude "he said god, he must believe in jesus as his personal saviour"... Sadly some people will never learn. It would require them to think.

  • did anyone notice the date of the video or is it just me? i am starting to think someone traveled in time

  • Creation is already there, Gods creation. In easier terms to understand, they are smashing grains of sand together to come to the center of the grain. Its all a giant rainbow.

  • Why do they have to call it "god" particle?

I've never heard it like that on CernTV. I guess it's the stupid American habid of acting so religious to maintain their reputation.

  • Why does it take a design/machine to create this?? What outside source did this in the beginning? It couldn't have happened without some help....This LHC just proved God.

  • @moJomittens

Then what created god, if you say we dont know, then why not just say we dont know how the particle was created in the first place, if you say god is forever existing then why not just conclude that the particle is forever existing.

  • @moJomittens Why does an outside source need to create it?

We need machines to create this as the Higgs boson exists in a virtual field, and doesn't exist as a real particle, only for brief amounts of time before disappearing into non-existence. By using high energy collisions, we can produce this particle and hence bring it into the "real world" to be detected.

It continually does happen without some help, it just isn't visible to us yet, due to its exclusive existence in a virtual state.

  • @moJomittens It didn't prove god at all. the Higgs particle simply determines the mass of other particles based on the interaction with the Higgs particle, for instance a photon goes at the speed f light because it doesn't interact with the Higgs, whereas if you speed up a proton to near the speed of light it get heavier and heavier as the energy you put it relates directly to the amount of interaction with the Higgs.

Stop flaming that religious bullshit on YouTube.

  • @JessAlexanderD : You're a moron. Can you not interpret what I said instead of copy/paste some delusional theory? I was saying the machine itself was proof. Without a design/communication of another source, all the laws and movement of particles would be at a stand-still. Nothing would exist without intelligent communication.

  • @moJomittens : And btw, I'll say whatever I wanna say dipshit. I can say the same thing about your "flaming". Go play your little video games and stay in your make-believe world.

  • @moJomittens This isn't god though, it's the way we see our world, and even if we didn't exist, it might be hard to imagine, but these particles would still be moving. Has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with "God" so shut the fuck up and don't call me a moron because you don't even know half of what you are talking about.

  • @moJomittens The LHC was simply used to re-create an event that happens naturally but in a controled environment.....I wouldn't expect you to understand that as judging by your comments it appears that you interpret every thing you see as proof of God.....very narrow minded of you!

  • @theELUSIV : Everything is proof of an intelligent design. Just like the human laws on Earth. To have a law, you must have one to enforce it....I really wouldn't expect you to understand, judging by your bad grammar.

  • @moJomittens your using objective evidence as proof of a subjective conclusion. So the premises of your enitre comment are flawed. Unless your either asserting or assuming that you have found made by god written somewhere that no other man can see, I suggest you study quantum phsics and ontological philosophy and reply back to me once youve demonstrated knowledge of epistemology, until then keep dribbling ya jibberish to ya bible bashing buddies

  • Good explanation tom :)

    Thanks

  • Honest question here: Why should we care that they found this God Particle? How does it actually impact my life?

  • @0Maloy1 Pure science never has pratical application at first. It may be in several decades or in several centuries that the discovery of the Higgs boson could have applications, but those applications would be so far out that I could hardly imagine what they would be. Technology always depends on pure science, and without discoveries in pure science technological progress eventually grinds to a halt.

  • @ClamCrunchy Alright thank you.

  • @0Maloy1 We are on the same page. Just let me keep my cellphone, my laptop, and my car and I will be just fine;)

  • That other word was "damn". He wanted to call it "God damn particle", but his publisher wouldn't allow it. No real physicist believe in what any of you retards would call "God." So no, there is no, and can never be any, proof of "God." It is a figment of human imagination, it is constantly changing to avoid confrontation with reality and it is a complete fucking waste of time. What annoys me most is all you lazy idiots, too lazy to even read about this on Wikipedia. You don't deserve internet.

  • @rvyyn Sorry, sir, but no one cares about your opinion. You go to therapists if you want people to listen to you.

  • @rvyyn Wikipedia? There are plenty of retards on Wiki who change and distort information.. Books are still better! By they way, do you have any justification for your claim?

  • @WSSIIWarlordII Yes. "The god particle: if the universe is the answer, what is the question?" by Lederman, page 22. And wikipedia is not absolute. You have a responsibility of your own to make sure your information checks out, even with books. A few hundred years ago people would have given a left nut for such a vast resource of knowledge. Nowadays people just take it for granted, as the spoiled brats they are.

  • see "HERE IT HIGGS" on youtube, they repeated a head on elastic collision with two identical particles and caused a divergence of smaller particles. This is nothing new (yawn)! New theory suggests we do not need the Higgs Field...ether!!

  • @sask523 fuck english,,i dont have to know it prefect

  • why this motherfucker said us first its europe you fuck, this collider is in swizerland and for all the dumm peopel out there, swizerland is in europe and they speak german there.

  • @sask523 maybe you should go there, as your english doesn't seem to be all that good.

  • What is the NOT GOOD about?

  • @mastertheillusion Could prove that god exists.

  • @iOutComei - Nah, the Higgs Boson or "God Particle" doesn't really have anything to do with religion, hence it's discovery will neither prove nor disprove the existence of God. If confirmed, it will just be another (but *extremely* important) piece of the puzzle, where it's confirmation will complete the Standard Model of particle physics. But if it doesn't exist, then that means there's something wrong with the Standard Model, and some head scratching for the guys with big brains :-)

  • @MTMind2 Thanks for clearing that up.

  • The best part is, America spent billions to excavate a stretch of Earth decades ago, and then spent billions to fill in the trench they dug. And the E.U is now getting world attention . . .

  • @BOBFREESTUFF--> Hey if you're fine with seeing the images of starving children while the world spends the ridiculous amounts of money on militarys and space programs and world banking scams and multi-billion dollar toys like the LHC that's on you! Now don't get me wrong,, I find quantam physics fascinating but, I'm a father and I have a conscience too. Corruption is corruption! We're a sad world if we pat ourselves on the back while innocent little children die unnoticed!!

  • 1:55 No physicist at CERN says that. In fact, most physicists hate the term "God particle" and resent that the media continues to call it that.

  • Who is really going to "bail out" the failing national economys that are supporting this??

  • @skrakus are you in the US? if you are then shut up. The experiment is taking place in Geneva

  • @CamiloSanchez1979 --> Duh, really? The LHC in Swizzy and France? Really? What does being in the U.S. have to do with it anyway?? Besides I've heard talk of the U.S. maybe having to "bail-out" E.U. countries or probalby the whole socialist leaning mess!! Certainly not the other way around!! But what's new!!??

  • Can you eat the "god particle"? Hope so cuz after roughly 10 billion dollars (probably twice that in reality), that is no doubt coming out of poor peoples mouths, there should be some benefit to humanity!! Will it dry the tears of the mother who her child just died of starvation in her arms? It freakin' better!! Unfortunately it will more likely simply tighten the grip of the elite on the world!! Hope they enjoy their mega- yachts and underground complexes!!

  • @skrakus You're completely mad. The United States spends nearly 700 billion on its military annually. Your examples hold no merit when held against any kind of research. Knowledge of any kind cannot "feed the poor" or "dry tears." Your statement is intellectually bankrupt.

  • @TampaRed --> What does the US military spending have to do witih this? Not that I actually support much of it or these "nation building" efforts on our part, in the middle east. Especially not on my nickel and while unsupportable cultures and religions shouldn't be "bolstered" by Christianitys money and hard "all day" work. But would you have preferred your country to have been dominated by Soviet Russia? How about enslaved and "driven into the ground" by Communist China?

  • @skrakus - Whilst I understand your sentiment, it is imo misplaced. As a kid, I remember concerns about the world's population and how there may not be enough food for all by the year 2000. Well here will are in 2011, with enough food to feed the world twice over, and yet in the west we throw away/waste an obscene amount of food AND we have an obesity crisis! So we have enough food, the problem is the unbalanced distribution of that food, and that my friend is mostly down to politics.

  • @MTMind2 --> So you're saying that my sentiment, which seems to echo yours, that politics is not operating in a manner that is beneficial to a signigicant portion of the worlds population, (in my contention the lowliest and the starving) is misguided? Your point seems to chase it's tail full circle, so....?

  • @skrakus - No, I'm saying pointing the finger of blame at SCIENCE (as you have done) is misguided when the problems of world hunger is a political one, and therefore requires a political solution. So going back to the LHC, the choice wasn't - spend billions on a collider OR use it to feed the world's hungry - billions were not taken away from the hungry, it was set aside for use in science. We already have the resources needed to feed the world, what we don't have is the political will.

  • @MTMind2 --> Right, and at most levels I agree with what you say. But like the head of a household who says, "I need my new car (and the accomanying payment) to get to work and I need my fancy cell phone to conduct my day to day business", but his refrigerator is empty and his kids are wearing ragedy second-hand clothes to school... Should he really have a new car while a much cheaper used one would do and should he have a $100.00 dollar a month smart phone, over healthy food?

  • @skrakus - Ok, but that only strays further off topic. We can discuss the pros and cons of our society and how it relates to the richest (there are over 1200 billionaires according to Forbes) down to the poorest in the world, but that's really a subject for another topic. My objection here is to the often unjustified attack on science of "Why spend so much on XYZ, when that money could be used to help end starvation, end poverty, build hospitals, build schools, reduce crime, etc".

  • "big bang machines"? their audiences are a bunch of 12 year olds?

  • Comment removed

  • why is it not good? i mean this is a question we want answered!!!

  • why is it not good?

  • When remote tribes are located in formally isolated areas, and are confronted with technology as simple and mainstream as a camera, the reaction they exhibit is much like the bible-quoting simpletons posting here.

The degree of pseudo-mystic all-knowing woo-woo is quite remarkable - they seem quite oblivious to their irrational anachronisms.

  • Is not the god particle, is the goddamn particle!!!

  • THEYVE DISCOVERED COLD FUSION AND CREATED A MINI BLACK HOLE, EVERYBODY RUN....WHY CANT I GET MORE CHEESE ON MY CHEESEBURGERS THO

  • @zythepsarian They haven't discovered cold fusion or a mini black hole. Oops.

  • "GOD PARTICLE"

    God is a PARTICLE! OMFG!

  • Well, I know a spot where women screams Oh my Gawd!!!

  • how about spliting an electron into pure energy instead of small particles

  • Latest buzz in the physics sphere is that they have actually discovered the Higgs at CERN. Apparently, it was discovered at 125 GeV (Giga Electron Volts). Which was within the expected range.

No press release yet as they are going through the verification phases now.

  • geez...they don't know yet......they STILL haven't discovered it....please listen to this sound-byte....

  • Ipowne you confused child you need to read some books and stop reading some bullshit over the net! If there was no god then how do you explain everything to be closely perfect? Dinosaurs were wiped out for a reason,so we could live peacefully!God keeps us safe!

  • @shigri4lyfe delusional to the max!

  • @shigri4lyfe Everything to be closely perfect? Are you insane? What about cancer? Malaria? The bot fly? Cholera and dysentry? Deserts where people die of thirst and famine, hurricanes, volcanic erruptions and tsunami's that kill tens or hundreds of thousands of us? IF it was so perfect, NONE of this would happen. It would be, as you say, perfect and it really, really isn't. We've gotten bigger, fatter and lived longer because of science, not God/god/gods.

  • "Scientists spot GOD PARTICLE!!!!!! NOT GOOD.... " - Why is it not good?

  • .. "we might be able to understand some of how God thought about putting together the universe",,, - Amazing arrogance. Why don't you call it the "We Amazing Men" particle?

  • @sue200012 That'd be an awesome name! :) Although the women in the Science community would probably take exception.

  • @jamesinsaltlake well, The Amazing People Particle lol!!

  • @sue200012 its gonna give those religious crazies more reasons to believe that god created dinosaurs 1000 years ago.

  • @god604 actually it will help prove the opposite

  • God as a Scientist ! The action, when the God of Everything, compressed the whole Universe into his palm, the scientists named ‘singular point’ And the action, when the God of Everything, opened his palm the scientists named ‘Big Bang’ Does evolution begin on big bang level ? At what step does consciousness begin? Does consciousness begin on big bang level ? What is our intellect ? We can see this practically : after ‘big bang‘ all Galaxies run away from us
  • How in the HELL could they possibly know what has NOT been discovered yet? What a bunch of conjecture!

  • Getting real close, but the dogma of science will blind them to what they see. We need a true out of the box thinker to come up with the answer. Someone who is prepared to abandon traditional mathimatics. Make it flow as a wave, the mathimatics is in music.

  • 1 COR 3:18-20 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.

JOB 5:12 He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.

  • PSA 94:11 The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.

  • @trustChristJesus Your insane!

  • @Ipowne3g ACT 26:8 Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?

  • @trustChristJesus Why is it so hard to understand, You can´t prove SHIT, no religion can, You have no proof, just because it is written in a book doesn´t make it true, Science can prove you wrong, but you ignore the evidence.

  • @Ipowne3g ROM 1:20-21 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

"...what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch." (see MAR 13:37)

  • @Ipowne3g all the quantum theories hold true in the al-quran. you're just ignorant and arrogant. all the arrogance and ignorance cannot help you from death. the power of God that gave you life can resurrect you and make you pay for your arrogance and ignorance. your consciousness is a quantum equation that needs to learn the reality of this space time continuum and make your peace with God.

  • @realbulletshooter FUCK YOU, you have no proof!! It´s just a fucking book!! it´s not even creditable !! It´s wrong. Are you afraid? afraid of not going to heaven, well you should because there is none!

  • @Ipowne3g the al quran is for humble scientist like me. all the facts in the al quran can be explained using quantum mechanics. if you know, you will be shitting yourself, cause this life is going bye bye

  • @realbulletshooter dude youre such a troll.

  • @realbulletshooter

hurry up and crawl out of the primordial ooze already..

  • what's the other word?

  • @dankbot420 oh
