dont call people out if you dont know what your talking about! a 2stroke makes power every revolution (every 2strokes), a fourstroke makes power every 2 revolutions (every 4 strokes). also, most car engines are made for transport not performance (to an extent). where this two stroke has hemispherical heads, a vw jetta doesnt (to my knowledge). two strokes are crazy. still a scooter that has that much turbo lag.... haha
thats awesome i want to turbo my 4-stroke 200cc dirt bike but some great info for that is put a smaller turbo on it they make them half that size boosting would be way faster (ALMOST INSTANT) i would love to see that.
@epicstove He's full of shit, if that was a 50 cc and had 42 hp that's mean i could turbo my 2.0 jetta and get around 1900 HP, impossible. That little 50'cc would rip it self into pieces at 42 hp
@gigobait why you think hes full of shit lol.. 2 trokes produce huge horsepower in standerd trim for there dispacment anyway.. your missing the point of a 2 stoke totally.. it revs high.. producing power all the way to the top, with a distincly strong narrow powerband unlike a 4 stroke wich is more linear.. all said i bet if you can get the right boost at the right time ie.. when in the power band i bet you can gain a substantial amount of horsepower.. dont be a hater man..
@nickernosher Because i worked on 2 cycle engines for a few years now. And if a 50 CC aluminum block head is producing 42 HP it would rip it self in little tiny pieces...
@gigobait the jetta is a 4 troke, you cant compare to two strokes, you stupid. the power to weight ratio on two strokes SMOKES the power to weight ratio on 4 strokes. im sorry you're wrong.
I love how all the negative comment people have NO fucking idea what they are talking about yet they are on here pretending like they do. What's the point of spreading bullshit that is incorrect? Why do you assholes do that? What do you gain? Does it make you feel less stupid when you pop into an internet forum and pass off some of your shit as truth? Your ignorant opinions are not fact you fucking idiots. Look at ZeroKenshin..fucking moron. Go fuck yourself you internet retard troll.
@buzneg Most 2 hp 50cc's are downtuned for moped legislation, the full effect versions are usually around 5 hp... But an old Vespa like that is hardly more than 2,5 hp stock, so it must have a tune-up cylinder with more than 50cc to achieve 8 hp.. but 42 hp.. A 125cc competition crosser has something like that.. If the figures are divided by 10, i might believe it.. It was a 0,8 hp stock version that was boosted to 4,2 hp with a 2,5 hp cylinder and a file... ;)
got any advice for putting a small turbo on a 7.5 outboard motor? i am going to do it eventually for sure but just wondering if you could give me some pointers, thanks!
But can somebody explain to me how a turbo on a two stroke works? i thought that they only worked on 4strokes and that there was no gain in power when used on 2s????? or is it that the turbo has to be located after the expansion chamber in order to got a noticable power increase? plz help me out here guys, thanks!
Guys, this is awsome! I never thought a turbo would work on a 2-stroke! Where did You get a charger in that small size? Please do some more videos, i`d like to see more of that engine because i`d like to build one, too. Thats exactly the style a scooter should have: a powerful, mean machine but a clean, average look. I`m from Germany, where are You from? Guys, i think about a visit, i`ve got to get a live experience. Keep on tuning!
and i know people r just dieing to jump on the fact its 50ccs but 2stroke so as far as a turbo gose its like a 100cc if it were a 4 stroke the it would not spool ever but its a 2 stroke so it can spool it. it just takes a long time
@ejhieviugiejbv It really all depends on the turbo, the motor, the load, even humidity. Your best bet though is to have a smaller turbo that gets to capacity faster, as there is no way that this motor could totally max out the turbo in the video. smaller turbo and you can start to spool as low as 2500 rpms with a good load.
@ejhieviugiejbv Howd you get it to work after the expansion chamber, after all doesn't the expansion chamber throw exhaust gas back in and wouldn't the turbo just eliminate this whole process, therefore eliminating the need for an expansion chamber??
@ejhieviugiejbv Those engines have exhaust valves like 2stroke diesels which is why they actually benefit from forced induction. The Piaggio engines used in Vespas don't have exhaust valves.
pressure built up in the intake is matched in the tuned pipe SO .. no the boost will not blow right threw the ports and out the pipe CAUSE it takes pressure to make pressure dumbasses and for the reeds matched ... easy again what ever pressured air passes the reeds goes into the crank case the piston comes down (BDC) and creates a greater pressure then what was pushed into it as it would normally do... regardless of the pressure
theoreticly a boost botle works but in practice it dosent
small exuset ports and big intake ports help keep boost in there now when u get off the throtl in boost it sucks and it runs lean becuase the expantion chamber is under low preasure but when u get on it its a high preasure and that helps it to i have resently turboed my 1/10th scale nitro car it was a lot of work and some 1off parts but it runs well and its at 3psi
a to stroke engine with any kind of boost will when the piston is all the way back, press air in to the channels while fuel are trying to get out!?!? it can not be done in the same time cause boostpressure is continuesly and dosen´t stop just because fuel want´s to come out.....it doesen´t work that way so please teel me and others how you perform this metod............!
tell me how you are able to boost a 2stroke engine with a turbo since boost pressure is supposed to boost air and fuel together in trough the inlet manifold using the valves to prevent the boost going the wrong way when pistons are at bottom......?
in a sense a 2 stroke is already a forced induction engine. As the piston moves down it positively pressurizes the crankcase to force the air/fuel/oil mix into the jug. Additionally the expansion chamber bounces the mix that passes into the exhaust back into the jug positively charging the jug. If you run the turbo after the expansion chamber you're essentially replacing the stinger and making variable backpressure as backpressure is reduced as the turbo spools. Done right this all works.
@galactophore soo essentially just hook it up after the expansion chamber somehow, be it a hack weld or whatever, as long as its on there?, But what if i have 2 cylinders and 2 expansion chambers?, Thanks for the help, Chris
@50centmnm run two expansion chambers, one for each pipe, converging into where the stingers would go and run that into the turbo. 50cc turbo'd is hard but 70-80cc turbo'd is more usable as it can spin the turbine faster. I may go the supercharger approach.
your typical lawnmower engine is around 150 cc...lol

Diesel 2strokes won't work without them, and having a turbo actually takes away the need for an expansion chamber.

You can turbo any engine that exits exhaust.
I would think a turbo on a 2 stroke would be more effient since there's exhaust comming out everytime the piston moves up.
What size turbo did you use?
Ryan2588 2 years ago
thats very true, heres the problem with a turbo 2 stroke... the intake and exaust ports are open at the same time, so you lose alot of boost
