These are after school programs. Not replacement learning. The proposal is to teach at a challenging and accelerated rate. But if one listens close enough, they can hear the underlying message in the subtext. I've met mind to mind with men who went through these 'schools'. Very one-sided mentality and low SAT and ACT scores if they have them at all. And as students, when they get to college they are average. Just average...but they think they're great and blame the professors and the program. Then they drop out. I know. I homeschooled my daughter from 5 (she never went to public school) -- only 2 1/2 years of her homeschooling was rigorous. From 10 - 12 1/2 she studied college level science, anatomy, biology, and math books (focusing mostly on math). By 12 1/2 she took her first Junior College course, by 16 she had her first college degree (mathematics). From 5 - 6 I taught her to read to middle school level. By 9 she was reading 12th grade level.

She is not gifted - Just Homeschooled no more than 3hrs/day

She is writing her first book on homeschooling at 17. She'll have her Master's by 20. She's getting advanced certification in networking and hardware.

She started tutoring adults at 14 for $30 per hour.

She did not watch television or ever even work on a computer 'till she was 15 (1 year prior to receiving her first degree).
