Did Big Daddy wrestle outside of Great Britain? When Giant Haystacks came to the US, I thought it was great. But they didn't show him the respect they should of with a man of his credentials in my opinion. Because of Giant Haystacks, I started looking him up on here and took an interest in wrestling from Great Britain and Catch Wrestling. RIP Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks. Great performers.
@scorpioswrath: I don't think he ever wrestled in the Americas as he had retired due to the Kirk death which was before American and Canadian wrestling had started to become popular in the UK. In fact I recall that after BD's retirement, WOS started to cover WWF matches opposed to British wrestling.
@kanenkitten Link away. Mean Gene was with WCW around the time WCW was shown on ITV, but if you can provide the link, I will have learned something new.
On one of the British Wrestling DVD's, Daddy and 'Stacks tag against a couple of light-heavyweights (guess who won?)
Basically, Daddy just didn't cut it as a heel - it was better for him to stay on his tag rope shouting "easy, easy" whilst the lighter guy got punished!
I know everyone says Haystacks was 6'11, but honestly when he fought the Big Show who is 7'1, he was shorter than him by like 7". But, I've heard people say he was measured by the Guiness Book of Records back in the early 80s at 6'11 in shoes and like 650 lbs!
Thanks for your interest. No, Bruiser was also known as 'Bully Boy' Muir. it was King Kong Kirk that died in the ring against BD. Those were the days, 4 o'clock on a Saturday afternoon. I was lucky enough to see Giant Haystacks several times in my home town of Reading.
@TR25W It wasn't BIG DADDY's fault that kirk died and it was said that daddy was playing by the rules. RIP Shirly Crabtree. Im a 13 year old kid who was introduced to big daddy by my parents who have seen some of his legendery matches and i love watching him.
Daddy didn't kill King Kong Kirk in the match it was a heart condition that did, but Daddy blamed himself for the death so he semi-retired and when he did that it killed British Wrestling
I love these guys

@kanenkitten Nope, never, No WWF on WoS. Sanitised WCW on ITV Saturday afternoons many years later.

@makkari1: I have seen a video here on youtube where it had the WOS opening titles but was advertising wwf matches and had Gene Okerland hosting.

Its a shorter version of the one I saw originally and is just the titles but it does show that WOS did run wwf matches.
