  • Considering this guys is against the bible, Christians can't really take him seriously

  • @angelpalmoni Considering that people who are concerned with TRUTH are watching this, your issues with "the bible" don't really seem a giant issue I'm guessing.

  • Just making sure everyone knows that Dr. Packham is an atheist and is a member of the Freedom From Religion Foundation. He has stated that the Bible's account of Jesus' resurrection is "hearsay and therefore does not comprise direct evidence to demonstrate the resurrection of Jesus." (wikipedia, "Testimony of the Evangelists")

  • @nrajeff Dr. Packham would like to add that he also voted for Obama and favors equal rights for homosexuals who want to marry. So obviously he knows nothing about linguistics. (A classic example of the fallacious "ad hominem" argument.)

    And your point nfajeff was???

  • This can't possibly have any merit....20 Mormons gave it a Thumbs Down.

    "Praise to the Man"

    Hail Stan.

  • I am not sure if this presenter is qualified to speak on linguistics.

  • So far it seems that about 20 actual current LDS members have watched this.

  • Someone said mormonism is puritanical, a very strict in moral or religious matters, often excessively so. I disagree.

Mormonism is the largest collection of doctrinal fiction ever composed.

  • I don't have much use for Mormonism because it is an extremely puritanical and polytheistic sect. I mean where would I be without my 5 strong cups of coffee every day. If the Book of Mormon is so important, we should be reading it in the original language, like Muslims read the Koran in the original Arabic. Still, there is one good thing about the Book of Mormon: it makes good language practice when translated into other langs. Now I'm reading it in Interlingua.

  • Hahaha. What a hack.

    The Template:

    Read Book of Mormon passage.

    Give Hebrew/Greek/Latin etymology.

    Apply logical fallacy.

    Wistful, humorous remark.

    Nice try.

  • @albatrossvicar

Is one to infer by your commnents that you actually take Smith's Book of Mormon as an authentic revelation from the divine? Or more to the point, an accurate record of Ancient America? Perhaps a confirmation bias is at work here in preventing your mind from objectively viewing Mormon claims for what they truly are, utter nonsense.

    Most respectfully, WSC

    K.B.O.

  • Uh, duh , duh scientists....scientists...damn i'm tripping up on my lies...

  • Sounds like he is mentally retarded.

  • I encourage everyone to stick it out and watch all 10 installments of this video. There are some little gems of humor (particularly nearer the end) and the audience is eager to hear more of Dr. Packham, even after he runs over time.

    Thanks for the valuable info.

  • Glad you enjoyed the presentation.

It is yet one more devastating blow against the claims of Mormonism's playboy and favorite scoundrel, Joseph Smith.

    All the best, -EMF

  • Speaking as an amateur linguist, I appreciate this video and Dr. Packham's knowledge (wow). Is there a high resolution copy of the entire thing somewhere? Thanks!

  • Glad you have enjoyed the presentation thus far. You can continue to watch the whole presentation by going to our main page, clicking on the playlist section and selecting this presentation. It is broken down into ten parts. This is the only venue we have for this presentation in video format, however, you can go to the Foundation's website and download the complete audio of the presentation as well, click on the audio/video section.

  • Excellent! I'm downloading it (and the other presentations) now. Thank you!

  • Lame video

  • Glad you enjoyed it. Please watch the rest of the presentation.

All the best in your future studies. May we suggest a great site run by Mormons:

  • @ExmormonFoundation

    um..no..I don't like sour grapes :)

  • Alrighty then. Thanks for stopping by.

  • Where can I see this Stan so many speak of?

I think we would get along. I have already met the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus. I can't wait to meet the guy on the popsicle stick and the Great Stan.

  • LOL!

  • This video is Stanic!

  • Always impressive when the faithful come out to show how edumacated they are! Please keep posting GM! You are helping one more questioning Mormon leave your cult!

  • Most certainly! Stan is behind this and the rest of our videos as well. We call him "The Silent Producer" that way he does not get involved with the creative aspects of the films, only the content.

    Hail Stan!

  • Great, thanks again for stopping by. I take it you're not going to validate any of your claims? Of course not, that would require effort and taking a chance that your religion may be utter nonsense.

Keep up the valiant defense of the indefensible. It's not easy to be sure, we tried it too.

All the best in your continued studies. -EMF

  • There you go, circular logic at its finest.

Smith made the claim, so it must be true. Why bother to confirm & validate the claim. Joseph Smith said so, & that should be sufficient right? So the Sun get's its light from Kolob? The Gulf of Mexico is the former location of the City of Enoch? There really were Lamanites & Nephites? Your underwear really does protect you from evil? The global flood was a real event? Smith really did see all of those angels etc?

Well it must be, Joseph said so.

  • @GohModley

    You must be a retard!

  • Can you prove the Sun doesn't get its light from Kolob? Do you really believe that Satan is above teaching the scientists false doctrine so as to make prophecy look foolish? Indeed you are a fool.

  • Uh, yes we can prove that the Sun generates its own light through the process of fussion.

Damn those scientists and their following of Stan! Stan is always getting in the way of the truth, isn't that just like him?

Now I think you're just having us on. You can't be for real.

  • @GohModley

You just set the Mormon cause back about 180 years, which is coincidental since that was when Joe ran away from all his debts and moved the church to Kirtland, Ohio...which was 4 years before he ran away from his debts again and moved to Missouri.

While Joe was running away from his debts he managed to rename the church 3 times.

    #1- Church of Christ

#2- Church of the Latter Day Saints

#3- Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

Good old Joe, what a guy.
