  • does anyone know if the EJ22 has the same mounts as the EJ25?

  • @iloveheavymetal1 yes they do

  • GLORIOUS selection of montage music. Great work on the Legacy, too.

  • did that crappy ebay head gasket blow out yet? I ordered the same engine gasket set probably, but couldn't bear to do the head gasket. It scared me too much. Bought a FELPRO and used that instead.

  • Hey I am looking to do the same thing, was there any issues with the stock ecu, and EGR valve as I would have to have it pass emissions here in Ontario

  • @jc54bv nop, except i dont have any egr anymore, cauz i used the japanese intake manifold and i took off my cats also lol

  • Lol only way I know is by making the same mistake the first time I did an autobox motor swap! Kicked myself pretty hard for that one!

  • You are supposed to separate the torque converter from flywheel before removing the engine unless its seized because it damages the transmission oil seal; see the tranny fluid coming out the input shaft?

So you would be leaving the torque converter on the transmission actually.

  • @kawikid20o2 yea i know, i figures that out afterward that there was an access hole in the bellhousing to unbolt it, i changed the seal anyways afterwards and put it back together the right way

  • I'm getting a JDM EJ20 sent over to put in my 97 impreza, i've been looking into it and you can get the twin turbo to fit if you modify the fire wall a bit, if and when it happens i'll post a video.

  • mmm nice way to treat a rebuilt engine no i deer

  • What exhaus header is that!? I am to swap out stock 2.5 97 to a stock 2.5 out of 99

  • @cutandpastestudios Its a stainless header i got off ebay, it sounds good and seems to be holding up so far

  • Awesome video!

  • love that grrr when taking off !

ready to eat some Honda's !

  • Great video. I'm just finishing the same swap into my Forester. What did you end up doing with the power steering pump fitting? I just have that and the AC pump wiring connector is a bit different.

  • @fozzella The AC pump i got rid of all together and the power steering i ended up keeping my old pump instead of the jdm one..

  • hi my 2002 forester has 320000km and i want to do a jdm ej25 or a sti swap soon

  • @TheForester101 so do it its easy, if u want to keep ur egr then u need to keep your old intake, if not then just use the japanese one which is bigger.. the rest is the same exept for liek one fitting on the power steering pump..

  • @mikabrandl now engine you did was that a turbo or not a trubo

  • @TheForester101 not turbo, its a japanese ej25 n\a

  • PUSH IT TO THE LIMIT

  • ps it is a 96 not 97

  • its a 97 legacy and the jdm engine is a 96, its easy swap, everything just bolts right in just make sure the head gasket are ok on ur jdm engine because i found out mine where not once it was in and had to take it out again to change them. u can also keep the jap intake manifold but theres no EGR valve.. its pretty straight forward

  • i am thinking of doing the exact same thing. is it a difficult swap? i have blown the head gaskets in the old ej25 and i have bought the jdm ej25.

  • nice Mika u found the video 1 more month till insanity

  • Oh yea, too bad we dindt film more shit that day ! this summer well make a crazy movie, i cant friken wait

  • did that happen when you were racing the motorcycles?

  • no, the bikes where 2 of my buddies, the engine blew a month or so after.. i have to say though, i am not very gentle with the car haha
