did that crappy ebay head gasket blow out yet? I ordered the same engine gasket set probably, but couldn't bear to do the head gasket. It scared me too much. Bought a FELPRO and used that instead.
Hey I am looking to do the same thing, was there any issues with the stock ecu, and EGR valve as I would have to have it pass emissions here in Ontario
You are supposed to separate the torque converter from flywheel before removing the engine unless its seized because it damages the transmission oil seal; see the tranny fluid coming out the input shaft?
So you would be leaving the torque converter on the transmission actually.
@kawikid20o2 yea i know, i figures that out afterward that there was an access hole in the bellhousing to unbolt it, i changed the seal anyways afterwards and put it back together the right way
I'm getting a JDM EJ20 sent over to put in my 97 impreza, i've been looking into it and you can get the twin turbo to fit if you modify the fire wall a bit, if and when it happens i'll post a video.
Great video. I'm just finishing the same swap into my Forester. What did you end up doing with the power steering pump fitting? I just have that and the AC pump wiring connector is a bit different.
@TheForester101 so do it its easy, if u want to keep ur egr then u need to keep your old intake, if not then just use the japanese one which is bigger.. the rest is the same exept for liek one fitting on the power steering pump..
its a 97 legacy and the jdm engine is a 96, its easy swap, everything just bolts right in just make sure the head gasket are ok on ur jdm engine because i found out mine where not once it was in and had to take it out again to change them. u can also keep the jap intake manifold but theres no EGR valve.. its pretty straight forward
does anyone know if the EJ22 has the same mounts as the EJ25?
