  • Amanda is gloriously beautiful. I am honoured to hang out with her.

  • why is it no one understands the art of a song like this?

  • Fucking Brilliant!

  • This song is my friggin life

  • Too many lyrics :)

  • Damn I can't get enough of this song

  • bad in the blood....

  • @AsILayDyingBFMV *the. And THIS, my friend, is good music.

  • @Kayia121 loud ringing in my ears, blood oozing from them hmm doubt it

  • ...Amanda Palmer is the best artist to come along in decades...Shes fresh, original, super talented, and Glorious.....

...Lesser people will always nit pick, Them being lesser I would expect no less...

    ....Thank You, Amanda for sharing.....

  • i love you afp

  • I had never heard of this gal when someone was talking about her so here I am. Wow, I am speechless. I suppose there must be something good about her, but I am struggling to come up with anything at the moment. I hear she likes Dr Who, there we go. Goodness! I am not a big bubble gum fan and everything I listen to pretty much sounds the same. Good quality and a nice voice though. I know, she reminds me of the, 1910 fruitgum company with new lyrics.

  • @badmoonryzn ....Did you just call Amanda Palmer bubble gum pop? She's kind of... the opposite of that. However, Amanda Palmer isn't everyone's cup of tea. That's why she's Amanda Palmer. She's an artist, and not all art is always appreciated while its creator is alive and breathing. But I'm confident that when the dust settles, Amanda is going to be one of the few whose art actually survives the centuries. Her lyrics are absolutely perfectly imperfect. Flawed to a human degree.

  • @RCRobVlogs I understand her music, as there have been dozens of people like her over the years who do what they want and manage a following. Many people like when someone tells the world to piss off in a poetic form. Being a musician I say her music is all the same and lacks creativity, Music is not important for what she does. As long as you like it, great! A good example of someone who did it their way is Bob Dylan who has both sides covered and has staying power. Amanda, not so much.

  • @badmoonryzn Well not everything can match up to the Beatles or hell even later versions of David Bowie like the Hours album. I think what your arguing is that the style of screwing over the world has been done countless times over and over again, but even from the creativity of this song in it's speed and spontaneous bursts fitted with her vocals that match eerily well, it's different. It's marvelous in it's power to entice people in an era where music can be easily done and found.

  • @badmoonryzn For me, it feels like the proper failure songs. Her voice lands the right keys when expressing a certain despair, acceptance yet doesn't want to accept, but a conscious begging to be heard, but wreckage making it impossible to decide correctly. Yes you can call me pretentious for specifically hearing these things when so many other artists have their entire album dynamic done under this criteria, but for me Amanda has done it well and above standards.

  • Amanda Palmer is probably the best thing this world has to offer. Every time I see a performance, a video or just listen to an album I feel so much energy from it. That's talent, when you can get an energy high from the music.

And dear heavens, that voice. I'm so in love with it that it's insane. So different from those dime a dozen mass-produced voices you hear on the radio.

I wish I knew more about music so that I could use actual terms to describe what I mean XP

  • thats probably how my apartment will look when i move out...~

  • Unoriginal?

Just TRY to show me another artist even VAGUELY similar to Amanda Palmer!

    There is none!

  • @SirRiehl The World Inferno/Friendship Society.

  • I was crying so hard, felt like jumping out of my own skin. I put this song on and the tears instantly stopped! Thanks Amanda. I hope you see all the lives you've helped :')

  • she kinda looks like clara bow in this

  • @zitalee2

    She does!! Weird o.o

  • shit... amanda palmer is god!

  • the saddest thing i've ever seen. perfect, and painful as fuck.

  • If it were only possible to marry a song...

  • I've had this on repeat all day <3

  • if wellness is this what in hell's name is sickness?

  • How'd she find my diary?

  • My inspiration.

  • this song reminds me of my girl... i dunno if that's good... but damn if those crazy neurotic girls aren't hot... til they cut u in ur sleep... viva hypochondria. salud.

  • Amanda se rasuro las axilas, algo extraño sucede

  • I am not a spring chicken (42 ) and did not know much about Ms Palmer until this last year and suddenly feel I have a completely kindred spirit. Perhaps I am her west coast soul sister right down to the slips and striped socks. Life and love are very odd things.

  • why is she crying @ the end ? :(

  • amazing

  • Amanda Palmer is Amy Lee's superhero alter ego x10.

  • I like how she has the balls to be real. Everything isn't airbrushed, we're seeing her raw.

  • this is art :) love the way she presents an human dirty heart on the floor ... best video ever seen

  • Yummy!!!!!!

  • i was like "huh, what the heck?!" when I saw the title of the video before watching it

  • Meth

  • wow. its like she knows my family....

  • @poisoncupcake74 This song is for everyone's family. I havn't see a sane one yet.

  • LOVE THIS

  • so, the people who need meds. and we do this..and wh aere ok now...i am moving. to the uk

  • Anyone know Amanda Palmer's shoe size? I wanna send her some boots ;D

  • Don't be too hard on the haters. The constructive brilliance of this song, and all the others that she does, is fantastic. There is no single sound. There's excellent rhythm, chord progressions, percussion, fantastic bridges, wonderful melodies, harmonies, and EVERY song has surprises all the way through it. But her messages are so very strong, that it can be frightening to those with lesser brains. So...cut the morons some slack, and give them a link to a good Eminem tune....or some Bieber.

  • Ah the hypocrisy of people who wade through their own shit whilst complaining about the world today and blaming it on others. This is one of my favorite songs by Amanda most definitely and the fact that people have the need to come post on music they don't like or simply understand just shows what a fucking mess our world has become.

I still have my health (at least that's what they tell me).

  • This song is so powerful with the interesting lyrics and slightly disturbing music <3

  • Amanda, sincere thanks for this video. I have a lot of health problems that are in large part genetic. This song never ever fails to make me smile. You give strength. Please keep making art whatever it may be.

  • This has to be the best song ever created.

  • i love this song

  • she could be my antiboose and pro life

  • I love amanda palmer and the dresden dolls. I love this song so much that I am going to kill myself to it. Cheers to all and much love I hope nobody has the problems that have plagued me for my whole fucking life and took me to suicide.

  • @romperstompist I felt suicidal for the past few years. It wasn't until last year when someone I dearly loved took their own life that I realized how deep in my own neuroses I was. It left me devastated, but also with a fire to change, to grow, to embrace the pain, instead of continuing to run from it. This song was part of that healing process. The fact that this song touched you means that there's something open in your heart that can still connect to the world. You're not separate from it.

  • @romperstompist On Amanda's myspace page she recommended reading The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. I was hesitant at first to look into it because I thought it might be annoyingly New Agey, but it turned out to be one of the most transformative books I've ever encountered. Look into it. The author struggled with feelings of suicide until he realized it was his identification with his thoughts that made him not want to live with himself. If you're interested, I can send you more info.

  • I wish my stupid mother had a facebook. I'd spam her wall with this :D

  • Unadulterated and underated

  • Wow! Brilliant and intense! Life with her would not be boring.

  • anyone who doesnt LOVE this is musically retarded!

  • i love the violins...

  • Is this a clip from Hoarders?

  • this is amazing <3

  • Amanda is such a genius!

  • :D can't even describe her in words!!! Amanda Palmer <3

  • This is my favourite out of what Amanda Fucking Palmer has done!

  • I'm not a big music video fan, but I love this. :)

  • @AWSH17 You should dye it green too! That'd be so cool

    *-*

  • @AWSH17 People started calling her Amanda Fucking Palmer and it stuck. It was never her idea, nor did she actually change her name. It's just been a running joke for ages. Why? Not because it's rebellious, but because it's so ironic.

  • @AWSH17 ya, that would be a childish and immature argument you could make, but there's one problem. She's not the one who started it all. She wasn't trying to be ironic, that's just why the name stuck.

On an unrelated note, how could you possibly accuse Amanda Palmer of being unoriginal. She has plenty of faults, but unoriginality definitely isn't one of them.

    Go troll somewhere else.

  • im grease palmer we should meet next time your in perth comedian from 7 DEADLY NEWS

  • @AWSH17 yeah she is definitely a fairly original artist, shes not like a giant genre creating breakthrough artist, but i certainly cant classify most of her songs in an established genre.

  • @AWSH17 quit trollin

  • Comment removed

  • I love how this music video makes me feel.

  • wow... i just sang this and now i feel dizzy.... does this girl never breathe O.O

  • @GodHonestLie The editing mashes a lot of it together. For instance when she's singing the 'run away' bit you can hear the breath in between. I would think this is a lot less intense live just because it isn't possible (Even for Amanda Palmer) to have that big a set of lungs.

  • What the hell is that at 3:07 to the end?

  • @ohioasp I believe that sound segment is someone... possibly Amanda's boyfriend at the time walking into a room where she and one other person had staged it to look like she had killed herself, hence the "I was so fucking scared" and "is that real blood?" comments.

  • @wolfkins That....makes sense. I couldn't really understand what was being said. Thank you.

  • And she opens up with "FOOLED YOU!!!"

  • I think her music is the kind where I'd have to buy the CD. Normally I just buy the songs I like from the artists (I decided to buy Leeds United before I heard this one), but seriously, I love everything I've ever heard her sing. Wow, just wow.

  • She remember me Emilie autumn :D

  • @AWSH17

Do hipsters look like goths now? 'Cause I was accused of looking like a hipster the other day, and I'm still baffled. As far as I knew, black lace, excessive silver jewelry and too-much-eyeliner is still goth...even the emos didn't want the damn lace.

Oh dear god...I should have known something was up when the they wouldn't shut up about post-punk!

  • @MarshmallowEyes

AWSH17 is smoking something. Palmer totally isn't obscure enough to be Hipster.

  • @AWSH17

Oh yeah, also: AFP ROX SOX STFU!!1

  • @AWSH17

Wow...you're not even a very good troll. Does anyone else remember when trolls used to be creative?

  • @AWSH17 u officially fail for thinking this. :)

  • She's so beautiful and a fucking creative genius. I have no words. Goodness me. o_O <3333333333333333333333333

  • when shes upset at the end, i just want to cuddle her <3

  • Hey, if you guys like Amanda Palmer, you should check out Concrete Pinyada. Their lead guy just wrote an article for my E-zine, and they do some incredible stuff. Kinda like "Ampersand" meets "Strength Through Music." Check them out on myspace (slash-Concretepinyada) if you want:

  • JOIN AMANDA PALMERS MAILING LIST IF YOU LOVE HER AS MUCH AS YOU SHOULD!

  • very talented woman. bipolar/borderline - we rock (well, I play mostly classical).

  • @Composerland I rock the original blues^^...

  • I'm not even going to download this....I'll buy her album. True talent deserves it.

  • @sweetsorrow23 Agreed:) im a do the same.

  • @sweetsorrow23 true that! I'm eagerly waiting for it to arrive on my doorstep.

  • @sweetsorrow23 I wish I could buy her cd, but nothing gets delivered in Mali... It's really sad. ç_ç

  • @sweetsorrow23 Totally respect your comment and agree she deserves to have her album bought! <3

  • some of you need to get a grip

  • One of my absolute favorite songs by Amanda.

  • I love Amanda Palmer soo very much... She's a huge inspiration to me, has an amazing and unique voice, and is absolutely brilliant. This is such an amazing song

  • I want all her songs on my ipod, but I can't bring myself to download. I have to buy the CD because she deserves every cent she earns.

  • @sadisticlolita i think the self titled dresden dolls album is actually protected.

  • @sadisticlolita Download it for free you nob

  • @tsunamisurfer2004 That's what I mean. She deserves the money she gets for her work, I don't want to download it.

  • I LOVE YOU AMANDA PALMER!!!!

  • Music today is so..samey. We all need to get together and make a radio station devoted to real music.

  • yeah i like this , this is good work. the easy blend of stunning talent in a dusty bedsit/neglect setting is an indictment of the poverty of the arts generally for me. weve spent time with girls like this, fun times, strong themes, but those girls dont look so good nowadays but, i guess they dont care.

  • Vivez sans temps.

  • @francispelletier - don't mean to sound pushy, but it actually reads "Vivez sans temps mort." (live without idle time) - brilliant for someone as amazing as AFP!

  • Love this song and this video so much. But you know what's funny. I don't get the part at the end where the outtake audio is over her looking sad. ???

  • Been over a year since I first hurd this, this video still blows my mind :)

  • who is this "friend" and this "fami|y"?

  • She is just do fucking cool!

  • i totally understand!! like there's something inside of me that makes me insane and i cant run from it, i cant scream at it, i cant tear it out no matter how much i cry and rip. its awful. its my family. my past and future. UGH!!

  • I'm really saddened by the vocal doubling and tripling of the "Who Killed" series

  • she has a bipolar disorder btw

  • epic. i love amanda, i wish i could play piano as epic as her. great song, neat vid :)

  • And mostly I can't even tell what I'm running from Run from their pity, from responsibility Run from the country and run from the city I can run from the law, I can run from myself I can run from my life, I can run into debt I can run from it all, I can run 'til I'm gone I can run for the office and run for my cause I can run using every last ounce of energy I cannot, I cannot, I cannot run from my family They're hiding inside of me, corpses on ice
  • @aphro0pnk <3

  • @aphro0pnk do what you want 'cause who knows it might fill me up! ;)

  • @queenofthedamned37 ΓΑΤΕΕΕΕΕΕΕΕΕΕΕΕΕΕΕΕΕΕΕΕΕ

    KITTEN KITTEN <3

  • 3% analyze/ 97% work my crank.

    She's awesome.

  • God, she's amazing. I don't know, her music goes straight to your heart, whatever emotion it evokes. *dead*

  • fantaaaaasticcc!!!

  • Such great lyrics, Hits home. Amanda... I love you :)

  • It's like she took what is happening in my brain and articulated it in a better way than I could ever hope to. Wow. AFP = God

  • @stalledx ah cool you're paranoid schizophrenic too?

  • I saw her in Dublin. She preformed this song and I must say it so awesome.

  • This is such a wonderful song, I've never heard anything quite like it. It's funny how the most interesting, quirky music doesn't even touch the charts for some reason, yet they fill the radios with too much of the samey sort of music. I'm so glad I found it though, I'm kinda addicted right now :D

  • @cosmiccoolgirl I'm kind of glad they do not play this on the radio... It would degrade it so much, and it wouldn't be as inspirational if it was. Not to mention they (by they I mean mainstream poparazzi(sp)) would completely harrass her about anyting and everything she does... Its for the better :p

  • @LollirotLolita

Haha, imagine Oasis making the radio. That would be a great example of where the harassment would chime in

  • @xmisogyny Oh, it would never cease to stop XD especially since its about rape, abortion, etc. Waaay too much controvercy. It would end awfully.

  • Live without time <3

  • How could I have lived life without knowing about her?!

  • Mega Hot!!!!

  • Fuckin Genius!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love this song!

  • Amanda Palmer is fucking brillant.

  • This is fucking beautiful.

  • Start a society.

Rule 1: Nothing happens against the will of God.

Rule 2: It's only illegal if you get caught.

Rule 3: Got caught? No witnesses, no crime!

Rule 4: Confess and you're forgiven.

Follow this society a century or two, some rather startling examples of extreme breeding will arise. Geniuses and freaks, both.

  • So, many of us from older New England corners can watch the Addams Family and not really understand why our friends think they're so weird. And we all feel related to Lovecraft, somehow.

  • idk why but your comment just makes me feel extremely proud of "the older corners".now that the eloquence is out of the way....FUCK.YES.

  • @BaldotheDon Try being a European! :)

  • @Aiofe101 I kinda am! I live in Germany.

  • @BaldotheDon Maybe, but I can guarantee that your old, mad family will have nothing on mine! And congratulations on Eurovision by the way - ouch - it's over for another year!! :p

  • What.

  • AMANDA.. a girl to be liked

    to be wanted, loved

    and tasted..

if i were i guy i`d marry YOU. Hell no!! i love to be who i am but i`d do it anyway... so emotional.. so touching..and perspective.

uuuh lately my evenings look like this. but.. you are sooo hot....

    and a brilliant artist.

    gosh

i `d love to know you closer.

    -m-

  • I can relate to this song so much.

  • "I would love to carress her brain" I love how all the crazy peopke are commenting this video :)

  • Comment removed

  • She's one of the few people I've heard who can write a truly menacing song. Black Flag did it pretty well and some of Django Reinhardt's music is like that. I guess it's a rare trait in songwriters of any era.

  • My new favorite song <3 Amanda you are amazing.

  • i can totally relate to that song..as i think many of AMANDA's fans can..

  • She's an amazing artist, she's a genious. She just does whatever the fuck that comes to her mind and combines it in such an intelligent way. It's awesome.

  • Almost everyone in my family has a mental illness except me. They kept sending me to therapists when I was younger because they were convinced I was crazy too. All the doctors I saw told me the same thing: I'm fine, my family is fucked.

I don't think most of these "genetic" mental illnesses people have are genetic at all. It's all environment.

It's enough to drive you crazy...

  • @SaturnaliaSidhe You're wrong actually. Twin Studies show that people from families with mental disorders have an EXREMELY increased risk for developing mental disorders, even if adopted at birth.

Good for you, not being crazy that is.

  • @SaturnaliaSidhe

Well, the genetics-stress paradigm notes that the risk is just a diathesis, so without stress, you just have a heightened risk :\

Or you lucked out with those damned alleles.

  • This song kinda gave me a lot to think about. Great song.

  • i remember singing this song and the girl anachronism at 3 at night on my bed while listening to it wearing headphones and ACTING like i m crazy hahaha

  • This is SO GOOD , so emotional, so gorgeous. I adore her music.

  • I have a hereditary mental disorder. Somehow it helps to know that my mum is crazy too.

  • alwaysteatime, same case here, i know how you feel.

  • What's happening at the end??

  • @VAMPIRICROCKSTAR the talking is a recording of her college boyfriend's reaction to her staged suicide. she talks about it in one of the 'Ask Amanda' sessions that's posted . . . somewhere in the vast sea that is Youtube.

I'm so in love with this song. With all of her music. Such an artist :]

  • whoa.
