Oh wow, this speaks volumes of the proposal scene in the BBC production from 2004. Gosh, I cannot wait to read this book. When I watched the movie, I always thought that the proposal scene was missing something but didn't quite realize it until I heard RA's reading of it. Thanks for posting this.

It would indeed be a dream come true, I wish they would consider asking him, there was a campaign to get him to read it, but the BBC put a spoke in the works because at the time Juliet Stevenson had just recorded the audio book, and you can't even get that any more, she is a good reader, but we know who would be the best at it ;)

Yes, indeed we do. That short bit just proves it, doesn't it? Who better to read it than John Thornton himself? RA just has a power about him that a lot of other actors don't have. I've wanted him to play Ted Hughes ever since I heard his reading of those letters. I've never liked TH work, really, until RA read it. Now, I've become sympathetic toward the man. I don't think I'm superficial. I chose to believe that RA made me see/hear things about TH that I'd overlooked before.

he would be perfect for this... I always listen the audio book from "Sylvester" just to hear him talking... not for the story (but the story is amusing too) that´s the best medicine if I am sad or can´t sleep after listening to his  voice I can sleep and dream so well... *sigh*

This is sooo good! This is by far one of the best scenes and you have put the audio and clips together really well. And as for Mr R's reading, well, I am lost for words! his voice is captivating and he narrates so well, especially at 0:20-0:27, 0:34 and 1:30-1:37 - beautiful!

The more I see of Richard Armitage the more impressed I am by him! Gorgeous to look at and gorgeous to listen to as well as incredibly talented. Loved him in Robin Hood first.
