WHAT... NO BANDSCOPE???!!! I want to be able to SEE where the signals are, especially on 6 meters, where this would be a benefit. Please consider including real time bandscopes (even a mini fold out one that pops out the top would be very cool) in your future rigs.
Some people are down on HF, it's challenging and very rewarding, but so are the VHF/UHF/EHF freqs...EME is tough, microwave comms take a special, DEDICATED breed of folks to advance the technology. I do agree that to SELL in the radio market takes a LOT of hype. However, Kenwood makes a great radio at a great price. I'd buy one anyday over an iCOM, not that they're not good, just that I can't stand the iCOM kool-aid drinkers. I'm buying a Kenwood in September!! They work very well!
HF is merely ONE aspect of the amateur radio hobby. To think that HF is what defines this hobby or "where it's at" is merely your own perspective of it. However, your opinion does not represent everyone else within ham radio.
Theres nothing wrong with loving what you do in the hobby. But to think your preferred area of operation is the center of the universe is rather arrogant. I see this all the time and it's really unfortunate people actually think this way :(
I love the looks. A modern TS-450SAT which I thought was a great rig so hopefully this knocks our socks off at the Dayton Hamvention in a couple of days. Good for Kenmore. Get back into the game you a'holes. How about a nice new TS-990SAT?
Looks like a very nice rig, but it would have been nice if they had an analog meter (or digital analog copy like Icom) and a built-in mini bandscope. Why does Kenwood shy away from bandscopes? They are very useful, especially on 6 meters. Come on Kenwood... this is 2009!
Me too! - I want a new transceiver and at last I see something I like the look of. Hope they're available soon! - Sure I have Yaesu, Icoms and even Alinco as well as other Kenwood radios but this one looks classic design like the 450s

Will this handheld be waterproof ?
I love to take my HT with me when hiking, but do not like putting it back in the bag when it is raining.

What is the name of the new handheld?
