    pretty sad, but not true....

  • Hellhammer...............the first

  • Who is Ray and why is he in crypt?

  • @MissEgasMoniz Dont you know Everybody loves Raymond? this song is about him. Great comment! Should you really not know what the song is about then Ray is famous french serial killer named Gilles de Rais, who supposedly masturbated in his child victims opened guts - it doesnt get more metal than this :)

  • @medouch Graet - thanks for the info.

  • @medouch Great - thanks for the info.

  • @MissEgasMoniz The song is about Gilles de Montmorency-Laval, baron de Rais (1404–1440) was a Breton knight, a leader in the French army and a companion-in-arms of Joan of Arc. He is best known as a prolific serial killer of children.

  • TRISTESSES DES LES FANS. AMEN.

  • Cool video, but it is not live.

  • à force de secouer la tête comme des malades ils vont se choper des foutus migraines xD

  • they were so much different then

  • 10 people should be handed to gilles de rais

  • Either there REALLY good live or this is just the mp3 played over the concert

  • @NobllTotenkopf Its track from the album played over the video, haha.

  • sounds exactly like old metallica. reminds me of hit the lights

  • Cheers "The Ragman66" Those were the great bands from a great time!

  • Now this is the shit right here! Ow'... Metal!!!!

  • Real good Celtic Frost, impossible to listen to that and don´t even push yourself to bang your head!!

  • Animal from Motörhead on drums? This drummer is so similar to Animal, ist'n he?

  • Comment removed

  • BRUTAL HPTA ARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!

  • this is hellhammer they only change the name to celtic frost when they have arguments with co-bandmates to outthrow the other members tom and ain regroup and call themeselves celtic frost.

  • This was the good Celtic.

  • mega !!!!!!!!

  • Unlike anything of its time, the best of early black metal. More evil than Venom.

  • They were better when they dropped this depressing, tuneless thrash bullshit and got into sleaze. Cherry Orchards!

  • I agree this is also the Celtic Frost I like as well

  • Tom Warrior forever.

  • This is NOT live, but taken directly from Morbid T. An all time Favoritrecord.Helhammer, which was a bit like a demo was perfected on Morbid Tales, Tom W could now say : Here is the new shit : Thrash Metal.

This is playback like the Circle of the Tyrants Video.Still its awesome. The sound alone. Perfect!! A bit sad that Tom W have to make his new material so unlistenable. It demands patience. He could easily make Morbid Tales Part II. I miss the catchy songs, but Tom W is still a living legend.

  • PURE FUCKING THRASH METAL!!!

  • HE FUCKIN OWN THE EXTREME METAL.. ITS HIS AND NOONES ELSE .-.-.-

  • This song is NOT Live. It's the same version that's on the LP dubbed over a "Live" performance.

I kmow because I've heard it enough times, heh..

  • IMMENSI TROPPO GRANDI MITICI CELTIC FROST BY JHONTENEBRA

  • this song is good

  • I love this song

  • Raw unpolluted no nonsense blackmetal. No face paint fag shit here boys and girls just in your face evil.

  • @Kajun666 T.Gabriel has make up on, both he and Martin used to both use black eyed make up.

  • 9 twats hit the wrong thumb

  • @MrStraight6 No they were head bangin so so hard that they accidentally hit the down from the dizziness.

  • hellhammer, carnivore, venom, celtic frost, bathory

  • celtic frost rule except cold lake

  • @jaystonejustone I didn't think Cold Lake was really that bad of an album, just bad by Celtic Frost standards. I got so mad when they cancelled the dates near me.

  • Gilles De Ray's... the perverted son

    The holy man...

    This is the old Classic.

    But this video is dubbed, not LIVE itself;

  • is this the same band who did "Cherry Orchards " ?

  • @pointnozzleaway - Unfortunately, YES! Its the Same Celtic Frost.

At this time they were more Hellhammer oriented, in Morbid Tales and Emperors Return. To megatherion is also a good album.

After taht, i didint liked their work.

  • black metal! this is thrash metal idiot

  • @cannibal1941 ...are you sure? I think that you don't know thrash metal.

  • @9egomurder he's right, this band certainly displays far more similarity to thrash metal than to black metal. however, they do actually have aspects of both.

  • @muslithefis Yes, they do have elements of thrash but that being said the 1st 3 Celtic Frost albums did more for modern Black Metal than any other band. In addition to that Celtic Frost is the spawn of Hellhammer which happens to be THE quintessential Black Metal band... Venom coined the term/started it & Bathory & Merciful Fate are important as well but Hellhammer was by far the the heaviest, most extreme & sincere of that 1st wave....Hails to Hellhammer, Celtic Frost & Triptykon

  • @cannibal1941

It's old black metal, you idiot...

  • @Basilisk1349

its Avant Garde metal, you... =)

  • in black and white awesome!!!

  • AWESUM-FUCKING-AWESUM

  • who do yo call nigga fucking dumb??? jajja you´re a poser indeed!

  • Who do yo call nigga fucking dumb??? Learn how 2 type properlly and check ur grama u dumb retard. BTW Everybody uses the word nigga so don't even go there

  • Killer song. Love old Celtic Frost.

Check out Baltimore's VSD for some old school metal crossover. Much different style than Frost but they have some good heavy music.

VSD - Phantasmagoria, mental Breakdown, Conformity Sucks , and 4 other songs.

  • celtic frost bad ass

  • Sounds like a cross between "I Wanna Die By Suicide" by Dayglow Abortions and "Hit The Lights" by Metallica.

For some reason, even then back in 85-87 we used to make fun of this band, i wasn't sure why, but Celtic Frost aint get no respect.

Remember the SOD tune'whatever happened to Celtic Frost?" Funny stuff.

  • Give it up for the badass lefty bassist.

Also, EPIC OWNAGE for the song.

  • yeah this is playback mode hehe, but inspite that , this is great music and band. this song is about gilles de rais a frenchman, paedophile and necromancer, born in the 15th century.

  • Fake-live! :P But the songs rocks so much, for an old song!

  • Whenever I see the words "life metal", I know I'm dealing with a "truer than thou" douche who is more concerned with image and status than actual music.

There's another word for people like this. It's "poseur".

  • HAIL to the king of darkness !!!

  • that's called growing up, he got tired of that childish gore stuff, you should try to grow up too

  • sound rock and roll or punk... Lol :S

  • probably a motorhead influence

  • this is the celtic frost i liked

  • That bass riff is so dam good!!

  • what bass riff? :/

  • Years of plead, behind the walls

Chambers and vaults, Scenes of fright

Unspoken Words, in pain and dread

    140 lives passed his hands

Gilles De Ray's... the perverted son

The holy man... hanged by nobility

    Into The Crypts of Rays...

  • Alluring children for his masses Robbing and buying young souls Sacrifice to morbid demons Satisfy his repulsive sexual lust Gilles De Ray's... the perverted son The holy man... hanged by nobility Into The Crypts of Rays... "So this is for the morbid one, The braveless and sick Shivering laughter shrilled through the tombs Sexual offence and perverted rites Watching them limp and die... Wizards and darkness, Gilles' dreams Halfway came true..."
  • As a late medieval's French marshall Unrestrained, with endless ambitions Personal guard for Jeanne D'Arc ...the rising of his soul to god... Gilles De Ray's... the perverted son The holy man... hanged by nobility Into The Crypts of Rays... Overdone Mystism and Desperate Satanism (Ha!) • virgin

  • XD Geil

  • this band and this time in metal was special, hail VENOM, CELTIC FROST ,BATHORY, AND MERCYFUL FATE, 666 999

  • Antestor =) they rock...btw ...INSANE SONG i just heard this on Sirius hard attack or liquid metal!!!! i was like....dang i gotta add this to my favs. on youtube!!!!!

  • @TheRagman666 Fuck yeah... They were the ones who survived the legendary Hellhammer.

  • this song reminds me alot of Carnivore

  • i wouldn't say best, they kick ass. but they went glam, and not even the good glam too. Now they suck, the album this song came from was the best work they ever did and old Celtic frost rules. The best metal band ever is Motorhead, Slayer, Venom, Death, Pantera, mothafuckers that broke boundries. Like Hellhammer, best extreme metal band, ever.

  • WTF, this isn't a live video...

  • Absolute total fucking metal....!!!

  • their best song!

  • Yeah, they're miming it for TV, but still, the most evil guitar sound EVER. One of my very favorite bands from the 80s and to this day. Viva CF and Tryptikon!

  • Gilles De Ray

    The Perveted Son

    The Holy Man

  • Tom Warrior is fucking awesome

  • q buen tema amigos

  • the footage may be live but the song is'nt. anyone who has morbid tales and heard them live would know this. still kicks ass though.

  • right ! it' s playback for TV . Reed St Mark play on Priestly tapes . No Matter it's fucking awesome to could see that now !

    Good luck to Triptykhon !!

  • this metal!!! fucking love celtic frost

  • Metal was perfected here.

  • Fuck yes! My favorite CF song in vintage glory.

  • a fucking old skool classic

  • Want to talk about copy bands. How about those crappy bands from Norway. They all wish they were the Frost. They suck and their band sucks shit from dead chickens. As far as Motorhead & Venom, Both are two diferent bands. Venom are the true creators of Black, Death, Speed & Thrash Metal. Motorhead is a Outlaw Rockn' Roll band. Not metal. Motorhead rocks & Venom kicks you in the balls. Check out my concert posters -the rocknmamazine@myspace

  • Yeah this is

  • This is the album version, not live. It's lip-synched.

  • was this shot at the same place were Destruction - Bestial Invasion was shot

  • ..I don't understand why people are saying that Hellhammer/Celtic Frost ripped off Venom...have none of you heard of a band called MOTORHEAD!? even Venom would not exist without Motorhead.

  • Celtic Frost and Venom are my two favorite bands thats under the First Wave of Black Metal label. I think both band have a Different Sound.

I love this song, especially this particular version, because it dosen't have that annoying screaming sound in the first 45 second from the studio version

  • *Hellhammer* sounds like Venom. Celtic Frost does NOT!!!

  • This version is better than the live Wacken 2006 one.

  • =D a left handed bassist!

I play left handed guitar player too!

  • Black Metal was the metaphor for this kind of thrash metal. Celtic Frost actually sounds more punk than any other thrash band would :P

  • Awesome. Hail Celtic Frost.

  • This is the most metal band ever

  • Amen to that

  • actually yes, i just love them, i love this song, its so old school, its perfect, if i may say. even if i like other bands more than CF, i have to agree with you.

  • if anything i would connect celtic frost more to being black metal pioneers, since their earlier project hellhammer was clearly that. idk where you got death metal from possessed and death were responsible for that i think.

  • kickass song!

  • THe video is live, but the audio is definitely from the Morbid Tales EP. Good editing, and still a kick ass song regardless.

Wish I could find a live version of Nocturnal Fear...

  • Old school speed thrash dirty metal attack.

  • fuckin old school evil metal up your fucking ass!!

  • what impresses me the most is that this is from 1984.

there was NOBODY that sounded like this in 1984.

    they were imitating NOBODY.

    they were comepletly original.

  • i hear other influences, Discharge (UK), there's also a bit of Motorhead. There's a lot of punk/hardcore influences. But then listen to what comes next ...Amebix!!!

  • Yeah, they sounds like Motorhead and some other Punk bands, but, Amebix is fully integrated here!!

  • they were basically trying to rip off Venom, but turned out even more evil

  • Yes there was

    Destruction, Sodom, Venom, Metallica

    get your facts right

  • All those bands you named dont sound anything like celtic frost to me who basically originated the whole death metal sound and those other bands you mentioned although deserving of respect in their own right were not celtic frost and did not create the particular sound that managed to lay the groundwork for EVERY death metal band that followed.

  • listen to these albums and tell me how they dont sound the same

    Welcome To Hell- Venom (1981)

Sentence of Death - Destruction (1984)

In The Sign of Evil Sodom (1984)

Celtic Frost were practically a copycat of Venom

  • I gotta disagree with you on this.

They may have tried to sound like venom as a band but to me Celtic Frost does not sound like Venom, even though it was their main influence as they admit in their interviews.

we are going to have to agree to disagree on this one.

  • celtic frosts first album sounds like venom the same way metallicas first album sounds like motorhead.

in other words, the main influence is easy to hear and one can see that they used the other band as a template yet the sound is slightly different, but a different sound nonetheless.

  • I agree with you,

Celtic frost sounds NOTHING like VENOM

    Both great bands!

but no... HordesOfEvilMarch is a NOOB

  • Lol you're the noob

Yes Morbid Tales sounds alot like Venom

listen to Venom's Welcome to hell

    and Celtic Frost's Morbid tales

there is alot of the same sou8nd

you can easily hear Venom influences in their music

    You're the noob, not me

  • Avant-garde, I didn't even know Voivod was Avant garde o.O

  • Then you haven't listened to much Voivod

  • Metallica making death metal? ManMetallica was thrash the only thing death about metallica was the double kick drumming

  • Celtic Frost wasnt death metal

And im talking about Kill Em All

  • well the album kill em' all is thrash thats it learn ya bands

  • Excuse me bud?

    im 48 you fuckin moron

born before you and ive been into metal for over 30 years and your telling me to learn my bands? no shit kill 'em all is a thrash album

Celtic Frost still has thrash in their music

  • Dude when people try to act smart on YouTube dont even bother trying to argue with 'em man. It's not worth it.

  • Finally, Not an idiotic post from someone

    thanks dude

Yeah theres alot of posers on this site who try to act like they know everything lol.

  • Yeah no problem, and Wikipedia is grateful. haha.

  • Their Genre is Blackened Thrash Metal

which i dunno why i got like 3 thumbs down on one my posts cause Sodom's In the sign of evil is also Blackened thrash

  • Celtic Frost does sound like Venom, and so does a little bit of Slayer. I really dont care for genres though. Copycat or not, great band. And really almost every band in the eighties sounded the same...

  • 48 and still calling people posers and bitching about genres...

i would say u're rather the kid here. 48, that's sad...

  • Total Kult!

  • excellent!!!!!!! gods of death/black metal!!!!!!

  • Fuck yeah! Celtic Frost live with the studio track dubbed PERFECTLY over it! Tits!!!

  • Sucks that they broke up again

  • Whats this from...1985, blows anything today right out of the water! Everything about this is working, right down to the footage being changed to black and white. Just Fabulous!!!

  • This is cool! The clip is from either 1985 or 1986 and sounds suspiciously like the studio version of this song from their 1st record Morbid Tales. So many music shows were cheesy that way but it's still cool because Celtic Frost were the heaviest thing around back then. Another give away on the date is that Reed St. Mark(drums in this clip) didn't actually join Celtic Frost until 1985 after the original Morbid Tales EP came out which featured session drummer Steven Priestly on drums.

  • THEY ARE FUCKING GREAT!!

    YEH METAL!!!

  • Religion has nothing to do with ones love of Metal.... I am a proud pure hearted christian yet i also embrace Metal.. it is the sterotypical religious freaks who say everything that doesn't only speak of thier great and almighty god is "satanic" and "evil"..... Metal is pure passion and talent..

  • Sir, you're sorely mistaken. While you're correct in some aspects, the school of thought in metal is nowhere near the school of thought in Christianity.

In other words, you're a hypocrite, not unlike the pedophile Catholic priest (albeit much less severely) who preaches to his people about staying pure and otherwise going to hell, despite secretly enjoying and lusting after young choir boys, a sin in itself.

This hypocrisy doesn't belong in this music, because it only dilutes and weakens it.

  • Also, I have to add that the lyrics in this song speak of this sort of hypocrisy ^^ lol.

  • fuck, this band should be more popular damn it they fucking roooooock!!!!!! i just saw them today for 1. time and i already fucking love them im thinking if theyre better than metallica!!! omg! awesome band for real

  • Black metal?!?!? I thought it was trash/death :S

  • thrash black metal

  • blackened thrash perhaps

  • anyone is Christian and still likes Celtic Frost?

  • im kinda christian and i think this song pwns
