Bands have little control over when their labels decide to release "best of" or "greatest hits" packages.The reason Elvis Costello has had so many best of and re-packagings is because he's changed record labels a few times and every time he does, the old one wants to milk their catalog as much as they can, it has little to do with the band's preferences...you will recall Radiohead is having a "best of" put out without their stamp of approval as well, so it goes when you leave a label...
