  • Not only is the title ridiculous, but you were clearly within 50 yards of those bears - and that's illegal in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

  • i luv cades cove i go there all the time

  • wtf did i just watch

  • People getting too close to bears results in catastrophe- for the bears. Rangers eventually have to kill them. Use more sense.

  • Not impressed

  • lame-o nothing happens boooooooooooo

  • you sir are an idiot

  • wow. thumbs down all the way. i kinda wish that it was a catastrophe. maybe that bear could have gored some sense into you.

  • Catastrophe my ass

  • too bad the bear didnt eat your dumbass

  • I only saw a damn bear cub in a tree, everyone in front of us were morons stopping every damn 3 minutes to view OMG DEER!!! I can see them every damn day in my backyard.

  • gay

  • Yes, it is bad for the bears and us if we interact to closely. This looks to be shot from the distance and for the cubs running about. They do this a lot. They are like pups they run and play all the time. Bears are very strong and fast. I seen them come down and go up trees as fast as anyone could run if it was on a flat surface.... Nothing to take lightely.

  • I went in mid September 2009. I think we saw around 5 bears total. Get out some binoculars and look closely in the trees. The bears are black in color. Cannot miss them. I found if you just bypass all of the parked cars and then pull over you will find a better view than where the others are parked behind you. Don't walk out in the field like others. If you have binoculars, practice shooting your dig cam through one lense. Your digital camera can zoom with a monocular very far.

  • Boo!

  • i have been to cades cove 1000 times and still waiting to see my first bear what time is best for them to be out in the park went this past weekend and seen 2 park rangers standing next to the road and like 50 cars lined up i think it was a bear but i couldnt see for all the weeds in the field

  • @jenmatt8 Just got back from camping there, and saw 7 bears in 2 days. The best times are either in the morning before around 10:00 a.m., or ESPECIALLY, in the evening after say 6 or 7:00 p.m. in the summer. And yes, what you saw does sound like a "bear jam". If you keep watching the weeds where people are pointing, often the bear will stand up.

  • i have honestly been to cades cove 100+ times in my life, and every single time theres a bear, the park rangers either sits there so the public cant get close enough to have any harm,or have the off roads shut down, esp when baby's are envolved...

poeple like you saying "Catastrophe"...get real

  • As soon as she hit her back legs you should have left. That was pretty darn stupid. This is why our bears eat folks.

  • These bears while beautiful in the wild are very very dangerous and we are a meal to them. They are learning to break into cars, tear a tent to shreds, and when times are desperate or people get too close they attack They are faster and more dangerous then we can imagine. I can't believe that people think it is some kind of game to get close to the bears.

  • At least you understand. Some lady found out the hard way last year messing with a bear. They found parts of her in bear crap. Her guts were strung down a hill for 200 yards. The bear that did that was 230 pounds. You can't under estimate the speed and strength of these animals. People are stupid.

  • Well I am tired of reading about people who think this is some kind of game.. Cades Cove is very beautiful and I love the history that just exudes from there. But the bears are over-populated all over The North Part of America and well into Canada and are not cudlly or like a stuffed animal. The more people try to interact with them the more dangerous it becomes for campers and people that want to hike and enjoy nature. It is not fair to the bears OR to the humans

  • @IrishLincoln I totally agree with you. People are so stupid and make it bad for everyone.

  • doesnt appear that you got eaten at the end, but i am curious to know what idiot made those bears take off like that, and you running after them, didnt help matters, this is why the rangers get on to everyone, from people chasing those animals...was impressed at the start, ending..no way

  • You have to suspend disbelief. Also, no one made the cubs run around like that. They just kind of do that on their own. Finally, I wasn't running after them.

  • why the word Catastrophe?

  • It appears I get eaten by the Mama bear at the end of the film.

  • Nice use of music. I too have some Cades Cove footage on my channel. Great place to film.

  • Great video!
