Sometimes a change isn't for the better. AMC should have kept the 1990 opening. Although this version is better than the update that would occur a few weeks later.

I like the moving pictures better. The stills make the actors look unflattering. Especially Susan Lucci's cheesecake and Maria. I like Maria's video opening shot better.

I did too. You do know in the fall of 1995 they made them posed and then the live ones in July 1996 and for pearls in December '96.

I actually didn't mind this version of the opening. I hated it when they changed the music after Maria "died" and then kept it that melancholy for... ever? afterward? I don't recall.  It lost its "zing".
