This song always brings me to tears and I'll always remember the year I was 14 (2006) as one of the best years of my teenage life because it was the year I watched Stand by Me for the first time. He was raised a hippie and stayed like that for the rest of his short life.

He bought acres and acres of the rainforest so that it couldn't be cut down.

He was also very involved with PETA and boycotted animal products. He in fact did so much fundraising for PETA that he won their humanitarian award in '90.

So yes, he was the bohemian hippie that he "claimed to be."

River Phoenix didn't deserve to die so young...maybe if he wasnt dead, then a huge part of the world wouldnt cry anymore. Its sad to think of him that he's dead, but he has a new life, and someday we might all meet him!
