  • Van plays this while he is inside Escaflowne dueling.

  • SO. FREAKIN. LEGEND.

  • Its Romanian

  • Yeah you wont find music like this in anything airing today.

Escaflowne was the end of an era.

  • @CowHoofOnAHotPlate

    Your are correct.

  • If I get married this is gonna be my bridal march music

  • @ZodiacEternal83

    Very cool idea :D

  • @ZodiacEternal83 LAWL >XD

  • @ExpensiveGun Apparently you do not know what a dislike button is. Click that if you do not like the video and then get the fuck off the page, you imbecile, instead of leaving a comment that is going to be removed and get you blocked.

  • F_cking EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this will be played at my wedding by a professional band/choir or if enough money get yoko kanno to do it

  • reminds me of sephiroths theme XD

escaflowne is one of my favorite anime.

  • ...I never realized this song was by Yoko Kanno...YOUTUBERS, I invite you to play the anime drinking game, featuring Escaflowne. The rules are simple. Watch the anime, in order, one episode at a time. Whenever you hear 'Escaflowne', take a drink. 'Esca-Flowne' counts as one word, not two seperate drinks, though if you want to play the challenging mode, have two shots ready and take one for each part. If you don't have liver failure by episode 4, you win!

  • @GameKaiser

Me and my friends tried this for the new year party. We made it to episode 3.

  • ESCA!!!!

    FLOWNE!!!!

  • yoko kanno is just like one of the best composer and music writers ever her music is so beautiful

  • is dance of curse, dance of curse II, and black escaflowne are one right?

  • This makes me feel like riding into battle on the back of a dragon, broadsword in hand.

  • this, strangely, gives me confidence.

  • It will always make my flesh creep !~

  • Sublime magnifica rola

  • Back before ominous Latin chanting was over-used and cheesy...

  • @Ashitaka1110 It's not Latin...

  • @AitoHidenori

So what do they chant, besides "Escaflowne"? Just gibberish?

  • @Andreazor I can't tell - it might be an actual language - but I know Latin and can say for certain that is not it.

  • @AitoHidenori

Could be a faked language, many times words are just made up to fit with the music.

  • @Andreazor I can't think of a song off the top of my head with gibberish - modified grammar sometimes, but not complete gibberish (except on the Sims :/)

  • @Andreazor i think in the show they say its draconian for god of war

  • @wingdflame He/she was asking about what the other words were, not Escaflowne.

  • @wingdflame i think thats the movie only

  • @Ashitaka1110

despite of that, this song is just AWESOME

  • Esca! Flowne!

  • i love the song, but i don't understand somethings xD ohhh wow quisiera saber en vdd :)

  • Magic at 3:11

  • It is a really good cover version of Carl Orff "Oh Fortuna" from the opera Carmina Burana

  • @Greenleaves666 Sure, if it sounded like it at all. The only thing they have in common is they both are using a symphonic orchestra and a chorus...in which case, there are a lot of cover versions for it, and O Fortuna itself is a cover version of various pieces before it....

  • @AitoHidenori Do not misunderstand me... I really liked the anime and the song was awesome especially during the fight between Sheherazade and Escaflowne. But no matter who I ask they tell me the same thing that Yoko Kanno (composer of this version = Dance of curse) was atleast inspired a lot by this song! I mean it is not a bad thing, seeing how great the original was. I listen to a lot of classical music and never heard anything like Oh Fortuna.

  • @Greenleaves666 I said nothing about you disliking the anime; I could care less about that. What I was talking about was the music, and my argument was: you do know a cover version means basically a remake or revision of an earlier song/piece by someone else? Your original statement made no sense then, because this piece does not have the same melody or lyrical arrangement as O Fortuna, and therefore could not possibly be a "cover version"...and you just said so yourself last comment.

  • @AitoHidenori sorry but if you do not see that this is a version where she got the idea exactly from that song... you should listen to Oh Fortuna and this one after each other, if you still do not hear it... well your opinion!

And you said Oh Fortuna is not the original, I never said that, you said there where earlier version and I know no piece, classical or modern, older than Oh Fortuna

  • @Greenleaves666 Okay you are a moron. My original statement was sarcasm - you said O Fortuna is a cover version (aka remake) and I said the only grounds it could be so would be broad generalizations (use of classic orchestra and operatic chorus). It does not matter what inspired the song - O Fortuna as you claim is the inspiration - you said it was a COVER VERSION (remake) and I said it is not, and that was the only point I was making - NOT an opinion, a fact.

  • @Greenleaves666 It is a fact that Dance of Curse is not a remake of O Fortuna, and even someone who is tone deaf would be able to tell - inspired, maybe, but remake, no, and that was the point of contention by your original statement: "It is a really good cover version of Carl Orff "Oh Fortuna" from the opera Carmina Burana". You have been blocked now anyways, since I cannot stand idiocy, but feel free to reread the entire conversation; I got the severe impression you were not doing so all along

  • @AitoHidenori

I can kind of see where he's coming from. ANd Yoko Kanno is well known for taking inspiration from other works. But I think both of you need to compromise and realize its not really a bad thing that she took inspiration from possibly the most famous Choral arrangement in history. Its like saying John Williams didn't take any inspiration for his 'Duel of the Fates'. Both songs are specifically imitating an Operatic style. And might I add, Dance of Curse came out first.

  • @KennethHoward I never said she did not take inspiration from O Fortuna - as in my previous comment "inspired - maybe," but my only point was it is NOT a remake, or cover version, meaning the same thing, and then he started talking about inspired and everything else, which I was not talking about: "but remake, no, and that was the point of contention by your original statement." .....................I think no one is reading this conversation through at all......

  • Some complain about the lyrics sounding "repetitive"... well, isn't that suppossed to be a chant? To my knowledge chants doesn't exactly have a lot of words on them.

  • you knowtice that in the show Escaflowne when they play this song or a short verson, that some thing awsome happens. it's a realy pumping up song.

  • awesome battle music, brings back memories when I was younger watching this anime.

  • i love the music but find it slightly repetitive in the lyrics department. please don't hate on me as i still enjoy the music but notice a small annoyance that's all.

  • @AndrewTheMusher It is very rare that you find a lyrical and musical masterpiece in an....animated series. This is pretty much the most effort as one hears at this level of media with the music.

  • @AndrewTheMusher omg stfu!

  • @WARBEASTxAPOCALYPSE shut up it is my opinion on the song and i am free to feel how i want about things. anyway i love the song it is just the lyrics that i SLIGHTLY disagree with. i didnt mean anything annoying by it so fuck you.

  • I love you :) :) :)

  • thumbs up if arab lead u here

  • Most epic song ever. Damn Yoko Kanno is on of the awesomest compossers out there. Hans Zimmer gets 9 of 10, but Yoko Kanno, she´s get 10/10.

  • @fangiresaga

what in this world does that mean?

  • @allenfreek13 Thats what happens with the robots in Escaflowne, to activate them they offer their own blood to power the machine itself.

  • Looks like someone won't be making a blood pact with a giant transforming robot anytime soon.

  • 10 out of 10.

  • Esca~flowne Esca~flowne Es-ca-flow-ne Eating all our pickles~!

    Escaflowne~ Escaflowne~~~ He'll- Break-You're-Stuff~~!!

  • @ShadowFoxxMoon cure of the dance. Just the perfect name for this song. Just the way it worded makes this song more mysterious

  • @ShadowFoxxMoon sorry that was dance of curse

  • I wish that the show had more battle scenes, then I would like it more. But I still think escaflowne is the awesome show though.

  • @cateattingmonster0

If you want more battle scenes, try the movie.

  • I like the part from 0:00 to 4:10

  • @syoncle I like the part where they say "Escaflowne".

  • @syoncle so original lol..

  • @syoncle nice one

  • @Raius1 lol

  • @Raius1 It's obvious you didn't look at the WHOLE picture. Sometimes you have to watch it a few times.

  • I love anime movies and shows

  • @cutieboy101568 I like a few anime movies and shows. I am very choosy about anything I watch on television, because I usually do not even watch it.

  • Escaflowne is my 5th fave anime ever. The movies is better though,

  • @HaohmaruOfTheWind i agree the movie was better than the series, but they were both awesome. Kinda like steam age gundams.
