  • I was at this parade. Back on leave from my duty station in Turkey (USAF).. Filmed on Broad Street in Richmond, Virginia.

  • Pure feelgood music, just like you can call me Al - great videos too - they just make you smile...

  • 1 of the best.. song & vid. ever..... this song got me thru a lot.....Paul u definitely got the rhythm of the saints.....

  • 1 of the best.. song & vid. ever..... this song got me thru a lot.....

  • I get the feeling Paul doesn't actually know how to play the saxophone.

  • Can't say that this video has aged well...

  • PS. If someone has the video for 'Thelma', upload it for the people.

  • My face my race, don't matter anymore. My sex, my cheques, accepted at the door. ding a ding ding ding ding...

  • Faith is an island in the setting sun

  • I love this entire album and there's an argument to be made that this is the finest track that Paul Simon ever made.

  • @GerryMATW Amen.

  • Poof, proost and then Simons. Steve and Chevy sure know how to say the wrong words.

  • love it! lol

  • This song is so awesome :)

  • twitt4rville.... You mean Vampire Weekend sounds like this? =) SImilar style but noone will ever do it like this again....

  • This sounds likes Vampire Weekend.

  • @twilt4rville I think you've got it backwards buddy

  • My last comment 2 years ago! Well I missed everything between 1970 and 2008,

been catching up listening to albums in order since then. I still can't get into the

African foreign type music he does, I should have said I like this song, but this is

an exception. Dangling Conversation I play all the time, he thought it was his next

hit, it's a hit with me.

  • @JettRink50 for his solo work, Graceland is probably the most accessible album, and anything written in the early 70s-mid 70s is a tad more like simon and garfunkel. Check out his 2001(maybe 2000?) album Youre the One - its more rooted in american music tradition, and might be easier for your taste. enjoy!

  • Never heard this before, I lost track in 1970 and started catching up in 2008. Buying

the albums in order I am just up to this one next, but for the first time, there are songs I don't like. I do like this one though, I could never get into most of the

African or other foreign type songs, I wouldn't know who wrote them if I didn't know.

  • This song always puts a smile on my face.

  • PS= wow ho scoperto che paul simon è alto come me!! -.-'

  • a 0:12 dietro steve martin e chevey chese che parlano passa paul simon, vero?

  • Two words: Hammer pants.

  • Awesome!!!!!

  • This doesn't go with your music Paul. Get

    rid of it.

  • jog on!

  • as for the music, Simon has not always been thinking 10 years ahead. but in the end of the 80s he managed to form at least 15 years of popular music. look at it this way - today already virtually everyone goes afrolatin. he was the first western artist who included the afrolatin on the large scale. AND IT GOES 100% with his lyrics. of course everyone may have one's opinion.

  • He has always been able to laugh at himself-Just listen to The Dangling Conversation sometime

  • MC Hammer part was the best.

    Man is he short.

  • The parade featured in the video was in Richmond, Va. I remember we had very little notice that Paul Simon would be riding on a float, and heard rumors that Steve and Chevy would be there too. I shot pictures of the parade, which was in 1990 or 91. When their float appeared, the crowd around it thickened quite a bit, with security, media, and gawkers all tagging along.

  • Holy shit, how have I never seen this video? Paul Simon rules.

  • i like how he makes fun of MC hammer in this?

or at least he appears to be.

  • There are few people in the world that can write songs as good as Paul. He is a legend.

  • Half moon hiding in the clouds, my darling

And the sky is flecked with signs of hope

Raise your weary wings against the rain, my baby

Wash your tangled curls with gambler's soap

  • man, i hope i'm making good shit like this when i'm in my 40s.

  • Paul "shit" is just as good, maybe better now and he's in his 60's...

  • @utublier This ain't shit Simon IMO! Its one of my favorites, I'm baffled its not on the essential Paul SImon.

  • Paul Simon doesn't play the flute or the saxophone. The joke is from his video for "You Can Call Me Al" with Chevy Chase from the Graceland album. This video was obviously made to play off that earlier video, and I was kinda bummed by that.

  • aww look how short he is!!!

  • Did you say "Simons?"

  • Paul Simon is GREAT.

  • BE-A-UTIFUL!!!!!

What year was this video taken? I love Paul, Steve, & Chevy. The 3 of them together are hilarious!

  • Anyone know if Simon is good on the saxophone?

I like the opening piece - that's the old time SNL humour.

  • I loved the MC Hammer imitation.

  • ^.^ beautifull

  • I love the man. I love him so.

  • i agree! i felt the same way. <3 Paul Simon 4ever!

  • Actually, the song was a big hit. You remember the Central Park Concert in NYC? Well! It's the only title that was repeated by public request. I just love it. It's my childhood music. It's deep in my bones.

  • This music is a pop stylized version of the Bikutsi from South central Cameroon (West Africa). For new trends in the Bikutsi, check Lady Ponce and Tanus Foe on YouTube.

  • I love this so very much. How was this not a huge hit!?

Should I get surprise? I've heard Outrageous and it was good, but is the album all kind of un-melodic and maybe too sound scape heavy? Also, the freakin' baby on the cover kinda turns me off from it...

  • Surprise was the album that forced me on a Paul Simon album scavenger hunt so I may be bias as to it's awesomeness. I still love Surprise (after a year of heavy listening). I also really dug You're The One though too and lots of folks apparently were disappointed with that one. Rhythm-o-t-S is my all time favorite. You should go get Surprise! =)

  • I just found You're The One. On the second listen I was amazed. I'll get Surprise next, if its that good. thanks.

  • I remember a video for a song from this album that featured hundreds of drummers.Any info?

  • The song with all the drummers is Obvious Child.

  • Thanx.

  • Great for a dark night on the German Autobahn when you're doing 200 k/ph

  • This cant help but put a smile on your face. Simply brilliant.

  • That would be God! He keeps trying to tell me how much he loves me everyday...and when I forget...or life makes me ignore Him..he reminds me again and again...It makes me cry tears of joy!

  • Great video.. great music from one of my favorite artists! Total fun... Thanks for posting it!

Check out his new album called; 'Surprise'

  • brilliant

  • And now we see that did MC Hammer not only rip off Rick James, but as well Paul Simon's dancing and pant-suit styles.

  • I don't think Paul ever wrote a better song than this. I saw him in Glasgow on the "Born At The Right Time" tour and he played this THREE times that night. Quite right too. It's a work of genius.

  • I've searched this video for a long time. I'm really happy to see it again. I love it.

  • What a fun and happy video. Great song and 3 real legends!

  • I didn't know Paul made a video for this song.

  • Paul Simon, a master of music. Imagine how lucky you'd be to work with him, you couldn't help it but learn so much. The ultimate would be, to be a student if his.

    Awe inspiring talent.

  • "Poof is not the bottom line, its Proust! Its not poof, thats too light, its Proust!" LOL!

  • Punny. Very punny.

  • Happy Birthday Paul!

  • I guess the giant "Tom & Jerry" balloon is no coincidence!

  • 'Let's ask Simons. Paul!'

    'Did you say 'Simons'?!'

    Hehe! Great!

  • this guy's great

  • I haven't seen this one in ages! Loved it! Especially the bit where they go "MC Hammer"! ROFL
